Teen Vogue has a slideshow on their site right now of “100 party-ready heels for prom.” Even though we’re well past our prom days, we still love a good pair of heels – whether we’re heading to a formal, going out, or just because. But after a few clicks, we discovered that Teen Vogue’s picks are way out of our price range. Miu Miu heels for $645?! Yeah, maybe when we win the lottery.

What high school girl buys $645 heels for prom? It seems ridiculous, especially when there are so many reasonable alternatives. Sure, Steve Madden is no Louboutin. But if you save a little money on your shoes, you’ll have the money you need to pay for other things. Like, you know, college. I love the convenience of watching TV shows online (besides that whole “burn my thighs” thing), but it can be a hassle sometimes when the season or particular episode isn’t available on a particular site, forcing me to hunt across the internet for the show I want to watch. Which, turns out, is only available in Japanese.  Luckily for me, I’ve discovered a handy site that makes everything a whole lot easier (…and in English).

Clicker is a super-extensive catalog of every TV show episode available to watch online.  To use it, simply type in the name of the TV show you want to watch in the search bar (or browse the site’s multiple categories), and Clicker will search it’s catalog of over 5,200 TV shows (and over 280,000 episodes!) from sites all over the web to take you to its Clicker profile page.  Once you’re there, you simply choose the episode you want, and follow the link to watch it! It’s textbook time again - the moment when you look down your syllabus and groan at the hundreds of dollars that could have gone to things like food (or that fantasy fall wardrobe) that you will instead be laying down for an eight-pound anatomy book. Sigh. Well, don’t get your panties in a bunch just yet; suddenly, there may be other options. I get that everyone is looking for a good deal right now, but there has to be a better (and less disgusting way) to save some money, right?

I love books. I just unpacked my massive book collection and filled like ten shelves with those suckers. Everything from horror to fantasy to sci-fi to children’s to textbooks – I refused to sell anything back because it was pretty much a rip off. Seriously, $15 for a book I spent $100 on? And never opened? I’d rather lug those bad boys home and use them to prop up a broken table than let those bookstores scam future students with them!

Take that, bookstores!

So, despite my general love of books in the book form (there is nothing more satisfying than the sound of a book being cracked for the first time), I have begun to let my eyes wonder over to the E-Reader realm. It’s a bit cheaper when you add up the cost of all those books you’re buying, it’s good for the trees of the world, and since there has been talk of loading text books onto them, they are definitely something to look into.

And if not, I could still carry my ENTIRE library around with me without the aid of a large, burly moving man.

Spring Break (and that 3-day hangover) is over and summer break is so close you can taste it. Mom’s home cooking, that is.

I know it’s hard to stay on track, especially when you’re only thinking about the months of freedom, days at the beach and (finally!) reading for pleasure, but snap out of it! You’ve worked too hard all year to eff it all up now.

If you want to spend the summer lounging by a pool (or in your front yard with the roomies) and not re-taking that Econ class, heed my advice:

1. STAY Organized: I don’t know about you all, but my room has certainly gotten messy. However, the minute I took the time to organize it the way I did when I got back from winter break, I immediately felt less stressed out. Having an organized work space makes you focus better, so take the time to reorganize if you’re room has gotten out of hand.

2. Calendar EVERYTHING: I have this big dry erase wall calendar that I write everything down on. Hopefully you have one of these, and if you didn’t get one at the beginning of this semester, I suggest you invest in one NOW. When you write things down it helps you remember them. It’s a very easy way to keep track of tests and quizzes that are on your syllabus. Also make sure to put birthdays on there, especially your roommates. I can’t even count how many times I missed class because I overslept, was sick, or (let’s be honest) just didn’t feel like going. While it’s nice to take a break now and then from the monotony, it can also have its downfalls, such as missed quizzes and participation points that could lower your grade. I never want to admit it, but it seems that the old adage, “You miss class, you miss out,” that our professors have been preaching since the first day of class freshman year actually holds some truth.

So what’s a girl to do?

Sure, you could go to every single class, but that’s not really plausible, is it? You never know when your alarm clock will decide to stop behaving, or you will stop behaving, or an impromptu roadtrip will pop up and require you to skip Friday classes for the drive (and Monday classes for the recovery).

[Welcome to my Weekly Love List. A list, on all things I love. Because if I love them - well then obviously you may (and should) love them too. As the Backstreet Boys song says (and yes I am actually quoting them) "My Love is All I Have To Give." So with that throwback, here are this week's list-worthy things…]

1. My Dropbox – Does your friend have all the good pictures from last night on her camera? Did she just buy the new Britney album that you want but are too embarrassed to purchase? We all know how annoying it is to transfer files via email – that stuff takes forever – and now you don’t have to. My Dropbox is a program you and your friends download. Wanna share some pics with eachother? Just drag em into your box (that’s what she said) and – voila! – any friends who are linked up with you now have the files too. It’s technology at its finest.

2. Healthy Mac & Cheese? 18 grams of fiber in one serving, and it’s GOOD. My late night munching self is in LOVE with this idea.

3. Eco Friendly organization. We all know we are supposed to hold on to every exam all semester long, along with our bank statements, our shopping reciepts, and a plethora of other junk that just ends up splattered all over our desks, and floors, and cars… and the list goes on. So check out these great, eco friendly ways to divide up your important documents and tuck them away in a neat, safe place. I don’t really love these, but my roommates love seeing the kitchen table, so I guess that’s good enough.

4. Laura Mercier ‘Almond Coconut Milk’ Hand Crème - It fits in your purse, makes your hands baby soft, and makes you think you are sipping pina coladas on spring break instead of cramming for your econ final.

5. Frustration Free Packaging. How many times do you spend 25 mintues trying to open up your new phone/Bluetooth/Barbie Doll and you just end up with a missing tooth, a bloody lip and the urge to scream and stomp on the product? Whoever designed that hard plastic packaging should work for national security. But, thankfully, Amazon.com is ready to do away with “Wrap Rage”; they are introducing a line of “frustration free packaging,” in recyclable cardboard boxes. Perfect for those of us with a need for instant gratification. Easy to open AND eco-friendly? Now that I L-O-V-E.
