David Hernandez: American Idol’s Dancing-Impaired Stripper

0_21_030408_david.jpgHe’s hot, he can sing, and on the American Idol website he claims the one talent he’d like to have is “Dancing! I’m horrible at that!”

So, David Hernandez , one of the final 8 boys in the American Idol competition, can’t dance, but he can…strip? Apparently, the 24-year-old from Glendale, AZ, once worked as a stripper, appearing fully nude and performing lap dances for Dick’s Cabaret’s mostly male clientele. I guess it’s possible to be a stripper without knowing how to dance, huh?

I know what you’re thinking…Buh-bye David H. Of course you remember Frenchie Davis, the Idol contestant who was kicked off the show for appearing on an adult website. But according to an Associated Press report, Hernandez will remain on the show, though Fox and the show’s producers are declining to comment. Don’t forget that last year’s Antonella Barba was also allowed to stay, even though there were some mighty racy photos of her floating around the Internet. Then again, she couldn’t sing, so she didn’t last too long anyway.

The manager of Dick’s Cabaret claims he didn’t even know Hernandez could sing and that Hernandez stopped working at the strip club at the end of September, 2007. Did he quit to start getting his voice in shape for American Idol? Since he had auditioned for the show in July of 2007, it makes perfect sense.

I don’t know about you, but I hope he starts showing us some of his dance moves on the stage. But maybe with clothes on, since I know, I know–there are children watching.

American Idol Has Star Power. Oh, And Jordin Won.

The first hour was pretty awesome, actually. Though I’m not a fan of Blake, he held it down with Doug E. Fresh. His beatboxing talent is undeniable, the singing voice is just a little shakey.

The group numbers with Smokey Robinson, and Gladys Knight were hugely entertaining.

The two old schoolers are still wonderful talents to watch, and though the Idol wannabes are perhaps not the most rhythmically gifted people (the choreography was just funny to watch), vocally they all sounded great. Read More »
