But as much as we love spooky costumes and scary movies, there are some things that are so mind-numbingly frightening that they chill us to our very souls. Things that are sure to strike fear into the heart of anyone who has one.

I’ve sold a few items on eBay, and it’s truly wild what people will buy these days (although no one wanted my used retainer… strange). Recently, a clump of Elvis’s hair sold for $18,000 at an auction in Chicago. I don’t know how I feel about this. Someone just legitimately purchased old hair follicles and dandruff for the price of a small car. This got me thinking:

What other celebrity items would make a killing on the auction block?

You know what would make a good centerpiece at the dinner table? Michael Phelps’ bong. Stick a few flowers in it and call it a vase. I mean, that’s what he was using it for, wasn’t it? Better yet, MP should put some of those luscious speed suits up on Ebay. Who wouldn’t pay a pretty penny to get that up close and personal with his junk?

And what about the prosthetic vampire teeth Robert Pattinson wears in Twilight. I bet some young pre-teen would crack open her piggy bank for that item. Used, of course. Perhaps we should add them to our New Moon gift basket. Talk about a good addition to your Halloween costume. Famous fangs!

If you really want to discuss an item of value, let me offer up some authentic Richard Simmons‘ booty shorts for sale. Naturally, any pair worn in an exercise video would demand a higher price than just his daily going-to-the-grocery-store pairs, as they have a higher (ball) sweat-saturation. And Richard Simmons sweat is like the nectar of the gods. Just imagine what kind of motivation would come with the authentic essence of Rich on your lower half.

And don’t think we forgot about you, Paris. How much do you think Paris Hilton’s house arrest ankle bracelet would sell for on eBay? It would probably be categorized as a celebrity chic fashion accessory, perfect with a pair of Louboutin (knock-off) pumps.

God, knowing how much someone spent on Elvis’s hair, I can only imagine what Balloon-boy’s family could get for that flying saucer. If my R.A. would let me tie it to the side of my dorm, I’d buy it in a heartbeat and be a part of history!

My school is famous for our Halloween debauchery. Every year literally tens of thousands of members of the under-25 crowd dress up (or down) to parade along Del Playa Drive in varying levels of consciousness. Halloween is like the senior prom of college (four years in a row).

The planning and upkeep in preparation for the big night(s) is fierce. Girls have been known to have mental and emotional breakdowns due to the stress of picking a costume, making that costume, making sure the costume is sexy/cute enough, and also making sure that nothing naughty falls out of it. OK, maybe not a full on breakdown, but that’s probably because they self medicate with shots of tequila.

There’s a lot of prep work that goes into the perfect Halloween and the key to success is planning. You don’t want to wake up on October 30th without a costume and be forced to go as a naughty school girl…again. So use this calendar as a countdown to Halloween; stay on track and you’ll be good to go come October 31st (or 25th if you like to celebrate all week long!) sans breakdown. You’ll look amazing, have a great time, and increase your chances of making out with Batman at a party.

October 3-10: Costumes, Costumes, Costumes!
This is the week to figure out what you want to be for Halloween, whether you are going solo or doing a group thang with your girlfriends. Peruse the Halloween stores, hit the internet for inspiration and settle on something. If it requires ordering, get on that now!  You want to make sure that it has time to ship and that it fits. (Note: Yes, showing a little butt cheek does count as fitting. It is Halloween, after all.) If you are making your costume, go out and pick up all the goods. It always takes longer to piece that thing together than you think and you don’t want to have to run out the night of Halloween when you realize you don’t have enough fabric to cover your nips.

October 11-17: Clean (up) Your Plate!
Showing off your belly on All Hallows Eve? Does that Lady Gaga leotard show off too much cellulite on the thighs?  This week, start cutting extra cookies, beers, candy, and pizza out of your daily diet. I’m not saying you have to lose weight, but I am saying that you’ll be a lot more comfortable in your skin (which is all that will be showing) if you feel your best. And that means eating healthy!  If you want to, start adding more veggies, lean protein, and whole grains to your daily diet, and cut back on the stuff that isn’t as good for ya. (Except candy corn – that is totally acceptable.)

October 18-24: Work It Out!
Keep it up with the gym routine and don’t forget to add toning exercises! Abs, arms, legs – everything has to look tight. Follow up those workouts with a Pumpkin Spice Latte (with skim milk!) and some old-time Halloween traditions.

October 25: Test Run!
Try on your costume(s) to make sure everything is working right and figure out your hair and makeup. Think of this as a dress rehearsal. Just don’t show that costume to too many people! Halloween is all about the surprise, so you don’t want to ruin it by prancing around campus a week early.

October 26: Final Details!
Figure out your pre-gaming plans (including which awesome drinking games you will be playing!), stock up on the booze, and finalize which parties you will be attending on the big night. Oh, and a giant bowl of candy on the coffee table isn’t a bad idea either.

October 27-30: Investigate!
Go undercover and find out what other people are going to be. The last thing you want is to show up at the party and find 12 other Amy Winehouses dressed exactly like you. Tweak your costume as necessary. Enjoy a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Hit the gym.

October 30: Time to Rock and Roll!
Yeah, it’s not actually Halloween, but it’s a Friday night so it’s time to start the party. So, get ready to go. Shave EVERYWHERE (cuz it’s all gonna be showing, especially if you take Batman home to show him your bat cave),  charge your camera, drink lots of water, eat a giant bowl of noodles with a side of breadsticks and get ready to pre-game.

Chase those shots with some candy corn pumpkins (just not too many – that sugar will make you ill) and you’re ready for the perfect Halloween!

October 31: Repeat!
Pound some Powerade, eat a breakfast sandwich, spruce up that costume (wipe off the spilled sangria, sew up that hole from when you fell in the street…), and do it all again.

I, for one, am thoroughly sad to hear that the web is abuzz with rumors that Paula Abdul might be abdicating her judge-ship on American Idol. She’s my second fav of the 4 AI judges (I mean, honestly, no one beats Simon: that smile, that accent, his badass, smart-alleck wit…swoon; Randy I stop listening to after the first “dawg” leaves his mouth; and I haven’t completely warmed up to Kara, yet, though the girl can sing).

Ms. Abdul was always amidst controversy during her stint on the AI show, from Cory what’s-his-face who swore he did the “straight up” with Paula, to lingering questions as to whether or not her Coke might be mingling with some Captain in that bright red cup. Regardless, I don’t see how the show could be nearly as entertaining that mumbo jumbo that comes out of Paula’s mouth (“You’re so pretty!”) and her weird clap (seriously, what is with that?.

Let’s face it, guys: we need a little crazy dancing around while the contestants sing. But the crazy has, allegedly, left the building. So who can we get to take her place?

1) Whitney Houston (think Whitney with Bobby, not normal, awesome Whitney):

Aside from the fact that she is a LEGEND diva, cracked-out Whitney would be outstandingly funny to watch, be it her arguing with Simon or joining in with Randy in the dog pound. And if she dueted with Kara, forget it! Plus, people are constantly trying to sing her songs, so maybe it’s time they were judged by the queen herself.

2) Amy Winehouse:

She knows how to sing (well,) she’s totally unpredictable, and just think of the goodness that will come from her whipping a flask out of that beehive and throwing it back while the worst of the worst singers perform.

3) Cyndi Lauper:

Another 80’s supastaaaarrrr to rival Paula’s fame. Cyndi’s quirky, upbeat, bad ass attitude may not lead to her dancing during contestant’s solos, but I can definitely see some tension brewing between her (and her cartoonish voice) and Simon Cowell. It would be delicious.

4) Kelly Bensimon:

There are only two people who leave me scratching my head in confusion every time they talk. One just decided to leave American Idol and the other is Real Housewife of NY, Kelly Bensimon. Just think of the ridiculous nuggets of wisdom that would come from this woman’s mouth (“You are like fertilizer and you are smearing it around and growing…”). If you close your eyes, you might not even realize Paula is gone.

5) Heidi Montag:

Aside from Heidi’s INFINITE wisdom of the music world, she would merely be a good ploy for ratings. Lord knows people to tune in to hear what “sage advice” Mrs. Spencer Pratt could possibly bestow upon this year’s American Idol. My guess? It would involve plastic surgery, a boom box on the beach and Jesus. Lots of Jesus.
