Though it’s hard to think about it now (because it’s hard to think of anything when you’re knee deep in snow), florals are huge for Spring. Shoes, jackets, bags, you name it- with the exception of a cute boy toting a bouquet at my front door, florals are popping up just about everywhere. That being said, it’s hard to look at a floral pattern and wonder if you will look more like your grandma chillin’ in Boca than the uber fashionista you want to portray. So here are some tips to help you out:
1. Keep the rest of the outfit simple. Choose ONE piece of jewelery or a simple belt so that the flowers are the main event.
2. Keep it fun. Aim to keep the look playful, youthful and appropriate for situations other than the 4pm early bird special.
3. Fit is important. Go for fitted dresses, shorter skirts and trendier cuts. Even if the pattern is reminiscent of the drapes at g-ma’s, these things will keep it youthful (and hot).
Here are two floral looks for you to try on for size. One, a bolder and brighter ensemble for those daring ladies, and the other, a softer, more feminine style. Read More »

I get it. With winter carrying on for another 6 weeks (thank you, Mr. Groundhog) your life really does feel like Groundhog Day since you wear the same thing day after day…after day: jeans and a black top, or sometimes, if you’re feeling a bit crazy, jeans and white one. After the novelty of a cute winter ‘drobe wore off (like the 2nd week of negative temps and slushy snow), it’s hard to put any effort into looking presentable and unique.
But after this article you will see that even if you keep your winter uniform intact, you can make it look like you really cared and make a ordinarily boring ‘fit ready for any occasion just by adding a few fun accessories. And you can do it all for cheap. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: accessories are the BEST way to revamp an outfit, create a look, change it up, or try out a trend without spending that booze money breaking the bank. God, what did we ever do without the internet? Besides the amazingness that comes from sites like this, there’s online shopping. And it rules! You can get all your favorite things without leaving the house and online stores can charge less for all of it since they don’t have to spend all that extra money on actual storefronts. That means lots of fabulosity without spending lots of money.
And one of those great stores is a recent CollegeCandy find: Anique Michelle. It isn’t well known – yet – and might just be one of the best kept secrets of the world wide web. The selection is small, but everything Anique stocks is adorable and affordable. Nothing costs more than $60! I’m totally digging the accessories and can’t wait to spruce up a few of my outfits with some of these. Read More »
