Mary Kate and Ashley? Yes, I’m familiar. Elizabeth Olsen? It seems as if EVERYONE is talking about her lately. But what about Trent Olsen? The older brother of the sisters remains a mystery. Was he sold off by the twins for only 50 cents?  We thought so, but apparently he ended up being not for sale.

So where is Trent Olsen? Who is Trent Olsen? Nobody really knows.

If you type “Trent Olsen” into Google, you get an almost empty IMDB page and the link to Mary Kate and Ashley’s Wikipedia. Not much to show for his 27 years of life. In 2006, Mr. Olsen graduated from USC, according to IMDB. What was his major? We can only speculate. It may have been computer science, or it may have been useless family members. All we really know is that this might be him. Not much to go on.

Maybe there will be a You’re Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Sleepover Party reunion and we will learn a little more about what he’s been up to. But until then, we will have to be content with the Olsen girls. If Trent wants more attention, he should start dressing boho-homeless. That’s why the twins are famous in the first place, right?

It seems like celebrities these days have to be Jacks (or Janes) of All Trades. If you’re a singer then you’re a dancer and if you’re a dancer then you’re an actor. Then comes the fragrance, and then, of course, the clothing line, the last of which can get a little creepy crazy. I mean, everyone remembers the Avril Lavinge era of hoodies and men’s ties right? No? Just me.

Well, if you do remember  the terrifying time then you remember just how ridiculous some of these fashion labels can get. So it’s easy to write off every celeb clothing line as a fashion disaster waiting to happen. And while that may be true for some, that’s not the case for all celebs turned designers.

[Like it or not, we all judge people every day. Especially when it comes to their fashion choices. From the girl with the too-short skirt for class to the old guy who insists on wearing short shorts and doing butterfly stretches at the gym (yeah, try to get that visual out of your head), it's impossible not to form an opinion. And now we're gonna share those opinions with the world. Every week, I'll be highlighting a celebrity look that I may love/hate/not understand and see what you, my college fashionistas, think about it. Let’s face is, style-wise, the Olsens often make some… er….unusual fashion choices, but usually end up looking incredibly chic in something that really, really shouldn’t work. But does this outfit just cross over the line of odd?

Ashley Olsen stepped out of her New York apartment this week in a red suit from her and Mary Kate’s line, The Row, and black and gold Chanel sandals. The outfit was perfectly on-trend with this season’s brights, and I love the striped shirt under the jacket, but I’m not sure how I feel about the sandals. Perhaps this would have looked better (or less school-teacher-trying-to-look-”hip”) with more fitted-style trousers and oxfords instead? Or maybe the whole suit is the problem. The ill fit makes it look like something Ms. Olsen picked up at the local Salvation Army….

I don’t think much about Ashley Olsen these days (with the exception of when I catch Full House reruns and roll my eyes at how obnoxious Michelle Tanner is). She is the CEO of two fashion lines (one that I am way too old to wear, and one that I am way too broke to wear), while Mary-Kate is the one who still occasionally graces us with her acting presence, and I hold her entirely responsible for the dirty hipster hobo-chic trend that has been around for far too long.

But when Ashley Olsen appeared at the Google Boutique launch party (because it’s not like Google has infiltrated enough of our everyday lives…) in an outfit that was not only fitted but actually adorable, I was shocked. Like, I had no words. Well, except for gimme, gimme, gimme.

An orange sweater paired with a pink dress? In theory, it sounds like a massive eye sore. Like something you would have done when you were 7 and didn’t know better and your idea of style was throwing as many bright colors into one outfit as possible. It’s definitely not a color combination that would have crossed my mind prior to seeing Ashley rock it. The key to mixing pastels is to making sure they lie in the same family – warm or cool. Ashley’s orange and pink are both very light, so they mesh well. The orange sweater from Forever 21 and the (AMAZINGLY chic dress that you can both with this sweater or completely on its own) from ModCloth are both rich shades of their respective colors, so I promise you won’t look like you got dressed in bad lighting.

Adding some black tights automatically makes the look appropriate for winter (and the second it gets above 68 degrees again, you’ll have the perfect spring look). Throw on some strappy black sandals because who says sandals are just for summer (tights + sandals in the same color are totally the fashionable alternative to socks + flip flops). Top it all off with a toughened up black purse, and voila, you have an interestingly adorable outfit.

There are a lot of perks to experiencing Halloween as a college student, that’s a given. But remember Halloween as a little kid? When you looked forward to more than the drinking games and the slutty sexy costumes?

Sure, I loved the costumes, and the candy, and the pumpkin carvings, but for me it was really all about the movies. And not those crazy, creepy, scary ones either, but the fun ones. You know, the ones about friendly ghosts and clumsy witches and great pumpkins…
Allow me to refresh your memory…

10. Beetlejuice. Originally this one was going to be higher up on the list. But as I rediscovered the plot of this Halloween time horror, I realized it was actually kind of creepy. Way to get your big break though, Winona Ryder.

9. The Little Vampire. Think back, way back. Before Twilight. Before Edward Cullen. Before vampires were ever associated with glitter. Remember when you actually thought vampires were kind of scary? It made the idea of a little boy being BFFs with a vampire so much cooler.

8. Casper. The friendly ghost. The special effects may not seem as cool as they used to, but it’s still worth a re-watch. Upon looking this one up on IMDb I discovered there was actually a plot behind this movie. No, I’m not going to tell you what it was. Watch it; you won’t be disappointed.

7. Underwraps. A favorite in my household growing up. My brother was obsessed with it. And it didn’t help that the Disney channel aired it every other day that first year it came out. We watched it over and over (and over) until I knew the lines by heart. Never could quite get use to the fact that they named the mummy Harold, though.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas. Come on. It’s Tim Burton. And a classic. And I don’t care what those brats are saying today, it will always be better than The Corpse Bride. End of discussion.

5. Double, Double Toil and Trouble. The Olsen twins have a movie for every occasion, and Halloween is no exception. Back in the day I couldn’t get enough of these two. But now I kind of wonder how Shakespeare would feel about Mary Kate and Ashley stealing his lines…

4. Halloweentown. Yes, another Disney channel original movie. But I can’t help myself. These people know how to do Halloween. After seeing this movie, I secretly hoped that one day I would “come of age,” and find out I had magical powers too. (Reading the Harry Potter books shortly after did nothing to help this notion disappear.)

3. The Worst Witch. My personal favorite. Poor Mildred Hubble, things never seemed to go right for her. But her life wasn’t all bad, I mean she had teachers named Miss Cackle, and Miss Spellbinder, and a cute little grey cat. And she had her own theme song…Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the worst witch of them all?

2. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown, much like the Olsen twins, has a movie for every occasion, and unlike the Olsen twins, every one of his holiday specials is worth watching. Linus and Sally spend the night in a pumpkin patch. Charlie Brown gets rocks in his trick or treat bag, and Lucky is just plain mean. Business as usual.

1. Hocus Pocus. The best Halloween movie of all time. It’s a fact. The other night, one of my friends posted on Facebook that she was watching it. The status now has 28 comments, all with various versions of “best movie ever,” and “OMG I love that movie,” along with actual quotes from the movie. Plus, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one with a crush on Max, right?

So what do you think, ladies? Did I get all of your favorites? Which ones did I forget? There’s no limit on childhood memories. So dust off those VCRs, pull out those old VHS tapes, grab some candy corn and start reminiscing.

Every day we’re bombarded with a million different messages about what we are supposed to look like. And tell you what, our not-so-scientific-yet-totally-accurate visual research proves that 99% of girls out there don’t fit the mold. So instead of telling you how to wear your hair, or how much weight to lose, or which one of Heidi Montag’s many surgeries to get, we’re going to celebrate these so-called beauty flaws with beautiful women every single week.

Last week we raised the roof for the A-cup ladies of Hollywood, and this week’s “flaw”? The bushy brow.

Plucking, waxing, and threading your eyebrows is far from an enjoyable process. Some might even go as far as to say it hurts like a bitch is painful.  But it’s worth it to many to get that perfectly arched, perfectly thinned out brow. But why? These gorgeous women prove that skipping out on the monthly (or in my case, weekly) upkeep and going for a more natural look is the way to go.

So today let’s celebrate the beautiful celebrities who keep their brows looking bushy and bold.

Sigh. I think I’m drooling.

How many times have I tried their look but always walked out the door looking like a clown? (Actually, on second thought, let’s not talk about the amount of times I’ve done that.) The truth is, no matter how hard I try, I never look like Mary-Kate or Ashley. It’s such a letdown. And while some people think their style is beyond bizarre-o, I happen to think they know more about fashion than half the “fashion designers” out there (are you reading, Lauren Conrad?).

This is why I was super excited when I found out they were creating a line for JCPenney. After all, clothing from The Row and Elizabeth and James are way too much weight on the wallet. Plus, did you hear about their genius marketing strategy for the new line, which they call Olsenboye? The twins traveled through New York City on a hot pink bus, showing off their line and handing out cupcakes! I repeat, a hot pink truck with cupcakes! I. Want. Their. Lives. But seriously, though.

So since I couldn’t be in the Big Apple for the trucks, I decided to bake a dozen cupcakes and look at Olsenboye online.

The cupcakes were great, but the line for JCP? Well…not so much. I hate to say anything negative about my terrific two-some (who once coined my favorite catch-phrase: “You got it, dude!”),  but this line does not do their brilliance justice! Sure, the line has a couple of cute over-sized tees, stylish flannel shirts and blazers, but it pretty much ends there. And “there” still looks cheap and watered down.

Am I missing something? Where are the grandpa-styled cardigans that we see the twins prancing around in? What about some trendy leggings or vintage necklaces that we just need to add to our collection?

I know that this line will never be as luxe as their others or even close to anything they wear, but I also know it’s possible to create something a lot better than this on a small budget. Even the Mossimo line at Target has more options! This just seems like an insult; like MK and Ashley just signed their names away without giving those of us on a budget a second thought. We may not be able to afford a $300 shirt, but that doesn’t mean we want to look like wanna-be trend-setters.

I was pumped to be able to dress like Mary-Kate and Ashley for a good price, but now I’m just even more broken up than when I (majorly) fail at putting my own pieces together in an attempt to pull of their boho-chic look. I hate to say it, really I do, but this line is no better than Lauren Conrad’s attempt at designing for Kohls.

In fact, I’m not sure it’s much better than her attempt at writing a novel, either.
