The most anticipated awards show of the year is finally here! The Academy Awards, while not as relaxed as the Golden Globes, are probably my favorite part of February. I love everything about awards shows: the red carpet, the dresses, the awkward candid shots of celebrities. I could certainly do without E!’s continuous coverage and gimmicks, but I really do love movie awards.

There have been so many great movies this year, but there can only be one winner in each category. Here are some of my predictions!

What are your predictions for the Oscars this year?

Reese Witherspoon is known for her Girl Next Door appeal and her fresh-faced good looks. She’s also known for a cool, casual style that gives her a relaxed feel, while still looking totally fantastic. We are always seeing her running around L.A. with her kids (and her delicious beau, Jake Gyllenhall) in jeans and flowy tops, but no matter how busy-mom she is, she still always looks adorable.

The magic of Reese is that even though her style is so laid-back, when she hits the red carpet – Presto! – she turns into a gorgeous, glamorous goddess. She is known for picking classically elegant and vintage-inspired gowns and venturing into less common color palettes. And it all works; Reese is consistently placed on the best dressed list after awards shows.

I’m picking Reese Witherspoon as my Style Idol because she can do it all and look completely beautiful in the process.

My Style Idol of the week is someone who is one of the most popular young faces in Hollywood/the music scene right now. She does a great job of playing up her personality and youth whether she is heading to a red carpet event, or just hangin’ out.

Rihanna.

Okay, so I’ll admit: it bugs me that Rihanna is one of the biggest pop singers in the world when (in my humble opinion) she can’t even sing, but I cannot deny that the girl’s got great style. Admittedly, she does have occasional snafus, but overall she does a great job of putting together fun, funky and age-appropriate outfits. She’s a trend-setter and is great at picking out clothes that work well for her body type.

Whether glamming it up at awards shows or out and about with her “good friend,” Chris Brown, she’s constantly snapped looking hot as hell and flaunting her unique and eye-catching style. Not only does she change it up with bright colors and intriguing cuts, she’s also ahead of the curve when it comes to hair, make-up and nail trends.

No matter what, you can’t deny that Rihanna has an individual style that she owns and flaunts and that’s what being fashionable is all about.
