For as long as I can remember, I have been yelling at my mom for not saving her 60s/70s garb. I would look through albums upon albums full of her in big sunglasses, major platforms and super-duper bell bottom jeans. Talk about may-jor fashion envy.
And save for that year somewhere around 1996 when Paris Blues Super Bell Bottoms made a quick comeback, the flared jean has been buried in the fashion attics along with record players paving the way for skinny jeans and low rise jeans. And besides, let’s be real for a second here…who looked good in ANYTHING in 6th grade?!
But, my fashion obsessed friends, my prayers have been answered. It’s like I actually willed those photos of mi madre to life. Read More »

[There are over 100 million sites on the Internet. 100 million! You might think you know about all the important ones (CollegeCandy, Gmail, Google, Facebook…), but there are thousands of other sweet sites out there (like Philo, Evernote, and Grooveshark) and more showing up every day! We get it – it’s not easy or fun sifting through the crap and porn to find those gems, so we’re gonna bring the gems to you. Just sit back, kick up those feet and allow us to introduce you to the diamonds in the internet rough.]
I’m a sucker for a great deal. Put me in any store, and I’ll usually head straight for the clearance section first to see what kinds of awesome deals I can score and brag about later to anyone who will listen (“Oh, you like my boots? Thanks! They were on sale for only $25, the last pair, in my size! Isn’t that amazing?” Yes, I’m sort of obnoxious). The internet has made it even easier to find great deals through designer discount sites—but there’s a new one out there now that might have all the others beat!
Part sample sale site (Rue La La, Gilt Group), part deals site (like Groupon), FashionStake provides its users with deep discounts (usually 40-60% off) on designer clothing and accessories. However, unlike other sample sale sites, which offer price reductions on last season’s fashion, FashionStake features serious markdowns on next season’s styles. We’re talking stuff that hasn’t even hit stores yet! Read More »

It’s no secret that you can easily find stylish looks for under $20 all over the place. From Forever 21 to Wet Seal, us gals know where to go for the deals. Occasionally, though, my quest for cuteness leads me to a website I’ve never heard of that has some great finds, like this one: Heavenly Couture. Nothing on this site is over $17.95. Nothing!
Really, with a claim like that, can you go wrong?
Here are a few of my favorite finds. Read More »

You could go to pbteen.com for a dorm room like this…or follow our time-tested advice!
It’s a dorm. Not an apartment, not a studio, and not a tiki hut. Keep that in mind whilst decorating.
In fact, one of my closest guy friends constantly mocks those girls who go all out on a simple dorm room, exclaiming, “GiRlzz! Letz do a BeaCH ThEmE! Lolz!”
That aside, it is your home, and your own personal residence for an entire school year, so it’s important you like it, want to be in it, and it’s presentable for guests at uh, any hour of the night.
So yeah, there are those crazies who have the money (and stupidity) to pimp out their dorm rooms, but what about you? What about poor, busted-my-ass-at-Ruby-Tuesdays-for-this-paycheck? you, who likely can’t afford a single Johnny Depp poster, let alone an entire room’s worth of decoration.
I’ll let you in on a little secret chickies, it’s all about the bargain shopping. And knowing where to find that. Read More »
