Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend, obviously never tried to walk in 4-inch heels – if they had, they’d know that a woman’s real best friend is a hot pair of wedges.

Love how your legs look in stilettos but hate hobbling home at the end of the night? This year, wedges are the answer.  No longer will you have to opt for flats, shove another pair of shoes into your bag, or take a cab 5 blocks to get home at the end of the night.  Wedges give you height and elongate those legs, but have more material pounding the pavement, meaning you don’t have to balance your weight on that super fragile ball of your food anymore. There are very few things sexier than a stiletto heel. Stilettos give off a “femme fatale” image; “femme” in the way they enhance your legs and “fatale” in the way that if you fall in them you could die. But that’s a risk this girl is willing to take for the beauty of a stiletto heel.

There are a million different stilettos, combining every trend imaginable.  For the trend-shy gal with impeccable balance, wearing a stiletto with instantly add flair to an outfit.  And for everyone else, stilettos are the easiest way to spice up an otherwise ho-hum ‘fit, as well as experiment with different trends.  And though they are not practical for everyday wear (unless you’re Posh Spice), they are always little pieces of art. I rarely keep clothes I get for Christmas – there’s usually something just not quite right with them (read: they’re totally not me). However, this year, I was gifted this gorgeous BCBGeneration blouse (thanks, Mom & Dad!) that is absolute perfection. It’s slate grey, it fits perfectly, and it has ruffles (!!) which are oh-so-hot this season.

Ruffles are my latest obsession and they should be yours, too!  They are not only a soft detail that instantly feminizes a piece, but they are also ultra forgiving when worn in the right place (there’s nothing like a tiered-ruffle top to camouflage your over-indulgence at the end of ’09). And they can be worn just about EVERYWHERE – on your tops, cardigans, dresses, and even bags and shoes! Meaning that there are many, many ways to incorporate ruffles into your everyday outfits.

And why wouldn’t you want to? Soft ruffled details add a romantic feel to the most basic of pieces, while the sculptural ruffles on skirts and dresses make a bold statement. When it comes to fashion, I’m like a Magpie; I’m instantly attracted to anything that sparkles or shines. And then I buy it. In four colors.

Lucky for me, metallics have been all the rage for the last few years and the fashion gods have decided to keep it around for yet another season! I’m starting to get into the Christmas spirit.  While I’m listening to classics like Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You, or new favorites like Lady Gaga’s Christmas Tree, I find the Christmas spirit inspiring my wardrobe.  My favorite way to express my Christmas cheer: wearing red.

Red is a confidence color, making you feel hot, hot, hot when you wear it.  As red is known to boost self-confidence it is the perfect color to wear to family dinner when you’re facing interrogation from your Aunts as to why you don’t have a boyfriend yet. Red is also known to attract men, so put on that sexy red dress if you’re single (or wanting to impress your beau) when you’re hitting the town.
