New Jersey Banning Brazilians?!

cmbrazilian_article_wideweb__470×3120.jpg

I am a firm believer that there is nothing worse on this earth than the pain of having a large patch of hair torn out of my bikini line. I’ve had many bikini waxes over the course of my lifetime (I’m a Jew – we’re hairy people!) and as much as I try, I cannot get through one without letting out a blood curdling scream. Poor Russian wax lady always feels so guilty.

Still, I keep going back for more.

Or less. Hair, that is.

The Brazilian, thanks to Samantha on Sex and the City, has become my wax of choice.  As most women would agree (and those of you who don’t really need to reconsider), having a little forest poke out of my bathing suit/undies/mini skirt is not my idea of hot. A tiny landing strip – regardless how painful – is. Read More »

At Home Bikini Wax: Yes You Can!

75407877.jpg

I know what you’re thinking: Waxing my own bikini line? ARE YOU INSANE!?Well the answer is no, I’m not insane. Just very frugal and, to be honest, curious. I’ve been shaving my bikini line for years and recently tired of that. The hair would grow back so quickly, coarser than before and I was ready for a change. So I decided on waxing. And instead of paying at least $30 at a salon (the cheapest I was able to find in my town), I decided that I had enough knowledge and a high enough pain tolerance that I was willing to give the DIY bikini wax a shot.

From my experiences, it is not that bad. Sure, I would prefer many things to waxing my bikini line (like medieval torture), but it wasn’t the horrific experience some report it to be, even doing it myself. In some ways it’s even better – no strange woman lookin’ at your hooha.

So, I’ve compiled a little guide of tips and tricks for you adventurous girls who want to try an at home bikini wax! Take a deep breath and read on. Read More »

Single Girl Hits Rock Bottom

lazy.JPG

I’ve been single (and loving it) for a long, looong time. So long, in fact, that I’ve fallen into a rut. I go to class, I come home, I eat, I hang out, I go to the gym, I watch TV, etc. It’s the same stuff all the time, and for a long time I was OK with that – I was doing what I wanted to, when I wanted to. No one was telling me what parties to go to, where to celebrate my holidays, or who I could or could not sleep with.

But lately I have begun to re-evaluate things a bit (read: weigh myself) and I now realize that I went from being in a single-girl rut to hitting single-girl rock bottom.

What does rock bottom look like? I’ll show you: Read More »

The Joys of Womanhood: Bikini Line Hair Removal

bikini.jpgOh how I love the summer. Between walks outside, iced coffee and sundresses, there really isn’t a more perfect time of year. But alas, every summer I am faced with the same debacle: bathing suit = dealing with the ‘ol bikini line.

We all know we don’t want hair down there, but red bumps; not really the look I am going for. Not to mention the in-grown hairs, the itchiness, or all the other problems that come with taking care of the situation. As if getting our bodies bikini-ready wasn’t challenging enough – now we are stuck with what is often times a force to be reckoned with: Bikini Hair Removal.

So in efforts to prepare you to grin and bare it this summer (hey, you didn’t spend all that time doing extra crunches for nothing, lady!) here are some pro/cons on the latest – as well as the tried and true – hair removal tips for your bikini line. Read More »

Painfree Waxing? Where Do I Sign Up?!

bikini-med-0507.jpg A painless bikini wax?! Please oh please, say it’s true!

Lycon Wax, a high quality hair removable wax available at both salons and drugstores, is supposedly “practically pain free”. Because of the wax’s self-hardening properties, it doesn’t pull on the skin while ripping out hair, and leaves little to no redness in its wake.

I’ve gotten my eyebrows done with Lycon, and I have to say I agree with the “practically painless part”.

I mean, you’re still very aware someone is ripping part of your eyebrow off, but the pain is minimal when compared to traditional wax-and-strip methods. The redness factor is also nominal, even on psychotically sensitive skin like mine.

I have yet to get a bikini wax with the stuff, and am way too much of a chicken to try it at home, but I assume the ouch factor down there is probably less as well—although I doubt yanking fuzz from a vajayjay is ever going to be completely comfortable. Read More »

Private: Smooth Operator: Say Goodbye to Unwanted Hair

kingofshaves.jpgI don’t particularly enjoy shaving. Though I must tend to this not-so-fun and time-consuming chore of hair-removal, especially before I head off for my spring break trip. It’s not fair that men only have to shave their faces and I have to shave just about everything else. So what do u do? Not shave? That won’’t work. Because I know that hairy legs and a hairy bikini line won’’t look good with my new swimsuit. Oh and neither will hairy underarms. So I need to get rid of the hair and quick.

I have a secret: King of Shaves Woman’’s Shave & Smooth Shaving Spritz. It’s a bit of a tongue-twister, but it dramatically reduces shaving time with a spray-on application. It costs only $6 and smells like grapefruit. It also leaves my legs, bikini area and pits, smooth, smooth, smooth. And most important, no razor burn! I don’t think there is anything worse then razor burn on my bikini area.

I can also always rely on Skintimate shave gels to rid my bod from unwanted hair. Just out in stores this month are two new scents-Strawberry Tangerine and Kissably Sweet and theycost only $2.50. With a price like that, I’ll shave everyday.
