I’m a runner and, as such, I like to have nice, practical (yet cute!), and comfortable clothes to strut my stuff in at the gym or on the track. The whole, baggy T-shirt and sweats just doesn’t cut it anymore; a lady likes to keep it together, even covered in sweat.
So, where do I go to get my favorite sneaks and workout clothes? Read below where this runner gets her kicks – and looks.
Marshalls. I swear by this place. They have everything from sneaks to sports bras to running pants and Under Armour for those chilly workout days. And it is all way cheaper than you would find at a regular store.
Dick’s. Get your mind out of the gutter, ladies. I am talking about Dick’s Sporting Goods store. A close second to Sports Authority (which, despite its top notch designs for workout attire, packs on a heavy price tag), you can find the best name brands for lower prices than other chain athletic stores.
Old Navy. Wife beater tanks in a billion colors, yoga pants and athletic shorts…all for under $15. You really can’t beat that.
Ebay. I know, sounds risky, but you can find Nike, Reebok, Adidas, New Balance and many more brands on this site. All you need to know is your size. Don’t know off the top of your hand? Run to a store, try on the gear, then come home and purchase what you want online for less than you’d pay anywhere else.
Ross Dress for Less. Similar to Daffy’s, Ross Dress for Less is a discount store that offers name brands at extremely (I’m talking $5 tops ladies) low prices. Google and find if there’s a store near you; they have stores in 27 states. Read More »

Paris Hilton has recently directed her career in a new direction, exploring the field of neural surgery. …Kidding! Because it’s actually worse.
Nickelodeon sweetheart (has-been? has-she-ever-been?) Amanda ‘A is for awkward’ Bynes will be introducing her new clothing line, Dear, in Steve & Barry’s stores on August 16th. Police are still in the process of investigating which hallucinogens Steve and/or Barry were on when the line was approved.
If you were one of the innocent channel surfers who fell to witness Bynes’ tragic sitcom flop on her show with Jennie Garth and that guy from Saturday morning TV circa 1998, I’m sure you are shaking your head in utter confusion to this painful news.
If you, in even more dreadful circumstances, were unjustly subjected to that She’s the Man soccer flick where not even Channing Tatum’s fantastically sculpted abs could pardon a pre-pubescent male-disguised Bynes who seemed misled to believe that apparently speaking under the guise of a muddled Southern accent would make her seem more manly, then you will undoubtedly be unable to fathom my next five words: her clothing line is worse. On the heels of the release of clothing line “Bitten” from Sarah Jessica Parker and “Elizabeth and James” from MK and Ashley Olsen, an article recently appeared in The New York Times criticizing the extreme rise in the number of celebrity designers. Apparently, designer Phillip Lim is only one of many designers who is concerned by this phenomenon- and I don’t blame him.
At first there were a few labels by celebrities like Sean John by rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and L.A.M.B. by singer Gwen Stefani. In these beginning stages the public could realistically believe that these few celebrity/designers had a genuine interest in contributing to the fashion world.
It wasn’t long before other celebrities smelled the money making, publicity friendly empire. Labels consisting of basic tanks, oddly shaped jeans, and tacky looking accessories were assembled and thrown into the market. Countless celebrity fashion lines later, it’s quite obvious that this is no longer about the clothes. Read More »

When I heard that Carrie Bradshaw, excuse me, Sara Jessica Parker was launching a clothing line named “Bitten” with mall-based Steve & Barry’s, I clapped my hands in glee. I imagined the cutting edge outfits and fabulous accessories I still idolize whenever I plop down for SATC marathon—sort of like Forever 21 to the next level. But I won’t be switching loyalties anytime soon, Bitten pales in compassion.
The spread in this month’s Glamour looked so promising too, all the outfits looked more or less lovely, if a little uninspired—until I read the captions. The dress that caught my eye in one shot was actually by Burberry, the striking top in another was by Oscar de la Renta, the fabulous jacket by Chanel… Only the most basic and quite frankly boring pieces where actually from the new line.
