Jessica Alba has totally become one of my fashion muses. Her love of bright colors, flattering silhouettes and awesome versatile pieces has cemented her place as one of my fave celeb fashionistas. I’m particularly obsessed with one of her recent ensembles because of its vibrancy and interesting color scheme.

Blue and orange definitely isn’t my color combination of choice, but I’m really loving how Jessica rocked it here. This light blue blazer complements blood orange nicely, creating a surprisingly feminine, eye-catching look. Combined with a sexy black pencil skirt and black peep toes, this magically becomes a potentially awesome outfit suitable for work, if your office isn’t uber-conservative. This could just as easily be the perfect look for brunch or a coffee date, too. Moreover, all of these pieces are super flexible, and you could manipulate any element to fit your own personal style. Could you ask for any more from one outfit? I don’t think so.

Penelope Cruz has been flying under the radar lately, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a photo of her this week looking just as stunning as ever. I’ve always liked Penelope. She seems really grounded and down-to-earth (even when she was dating Tom Cruise, which, as we all know, is enough to catapult anyone into questionable mental territory…). In addition to her seemingly chill personality, she possesses a classic, chic style that is visually intriguing while still being low-key.

Pink and green is a polarizing color combination, and I happen to land in favor of it. I think it’s fun and feminine. I’m particularly obsessed with this pink blazer, because it is so versatile and could be paired with nearly anything. The rest of the look is suitably neutral – flattering boot cut jeans, and beige accessories. I’m especially in love these beige ballet flats, as they have enough texture to not be hideously dull, but are still incredibly versatile. I think this is a great casual look that is made up of a ton of flexible pieces.

As I’m doing plenty of extra-curricular research this year, I’ve been examining my office wardrobe and realizing that it’s not quite up to snuff. I have plenty of button-up shirts and dressy pants, but other than that, my business casual wardrobe is lacking. I hate buying pieces strictly for work, so I was on the hunt for a versatile addition to my wardrobe that could work for a day at the office or a night on the town. Cue the Nasty Gal Beach Club Blazer!

This peachy-tone blazer is a chic, throwback piece. It’s reminiscent of the 80′s, but features a modern cut. A blazer is very grown-up piece that every college student should own. You don’t see freshman at the bar sporting blazers; it’s a sophisticated jacket that adds maturity to any outfit. And it will work for many occasions!

I love the pastel tone of the blazer and wanted to compliment that with a minty dress. The ruffles make it super lady-like. The infamous “Alex” espadrilles can now be found from your favorite budget brands and make this outfit summery. The Rebecca Minkoff purse is a bit of a luxury item, but super professional in shape. Add subtle friendship bracelets and dainty pearls for your jewelery and you’re done!

Just let me say that I’m in love with this look! It’s so fashion forward. Start with a pair of high-waisted, pleated shorts and add a crochet top. The detail on this one is magnificent! The punchy orange shoes are unexpected but so fun! Compliment the orange with a gemstone ring and any others you like. I chose a simple cross design. Lastly, climb to fashionista status with a turban headband (a turban, if you will).

Rachel Bilson never fails to impress. She always makes fashion look so simple and easy. That’s what all of my favorite fashionistas have in common. Even if they spend 5 hours on their outfits, it always looks like 5 minutes. True style is a reflection of your personality, so it shouldn’t look forced or uncomfortable. But enough with my philosophizing, let’s get to the clothes.

Blazers always make me swoon, and I’m totally jealous of wherever Rachel is that it’s cool enough to even wear one (why does summer have to be soooo hot?). This gray one is perfect for layering. Boyfriend shirts will never go out of style, and they always look sexy paired with a blazer. Denim shorts make this look more summer appropriate, and take it towards a more casual place, especially distressed ones. Black booties add a little rock star/Taylor Momsen-y edge, which fits in very smoothly with this ensemble that flirts very coyly with “grunge.” Accessories include a great, functional, cute little gray bag and classic wayfarer sunglasses. It’s an interesting outfit for day or (especially) for night that combines comfort with sexiness.

Kate Moss is ridiculously beautiful, not easy to relate to, and more than a bit troubled…my favorite kind of celebrity. And one of the few celebs whose casual style is perhaps even better than her red carpet looks.  She somehow makes the simplest outfits look totally haute couture and runway ready.

Who knew an all black outfit could look so carefree and perfect for spring? The monochromatic scheme of this look is my favorite part. Normally I’m all about pops of color, but sometimes it’s not necessary at all. The blazer is the perfect layer for spring, and underneath is a simple but adorable lacey tank that is a perfectly viable standalone piece. The shorts are a modest length, but still flattering and cute.

A pair of wedges is a great casual summer shoe (please, for the love of all things holy and fashionable, say no to flip flops). Kate’s big hat, round sunglasses, and crossbody bag with a chain strap are the perfect accessories to jazz the outfit up a little while still being understated.  This look is so basic, but still so visually captivating, and a great alternative to typical spring/summer fashion.

Cameron Diaz is usually not one that I look to for style inspiration. I mean, I love her as an actress and I totally respect her long-term commitment to environmental causes (she was going green far before it was the norm). As far as style goes though, I wasn’t exactly putting photos of her red carpet looks onto my inspiration board. Maybe it’s because she is so naturally gorg, and has this ridiculously lithe, statuesque body, she always seemed to go for really simple, unremarkable pieces so as to not detract from, well, her.

But perhaps the emergence of another blonde Amazonian goddess onto the scene has inspired Cameron to embrace her inner fashionista, because lately, she has been totally stepping up her game, going for a effortlessly sophisticated aesthetic that I loooove.

I love this lighter, spring-ier version of the boyfriend blazer; it’s structured and airy all at the same time. To up the sex appeal, Cameron paired it with a fierce one-shoulder black dress. I am so glad that the one shoulder look is back in season, because it adds the same amount of sass as a strapless number, but without all the awkward tugging and tape involved. A belt is always a great accessory to jazz up a simple outfit and draw attention to your fab figure. Throw on some strappy high heeled sandals to make your legs look almost as long as Cameron’s, and voila, you’ve got an easy, but alluring and mature outfit to add to your wardrobe.

After the longest winter ever, it is finally March. Spring starts in three weeks (!!!), and I am beyond ready to put my winter clothes into hibernation. I love tights and scarves and boots as much as the next girl, but I’m too stoked for vibrant colors, sundresses, and open toes…

So when I saw an outfit Rachel Bilson went for a stroll in, I pretty much spontaneously combusted from glee/envy. We all know Rachel is one of Hollywood’s most consistently stunning fashionistas, and once again, she does not disappoint.

Dress, Jacket, Necklace, Booties.

Coral is one of the hottest colors of the season, and this blazer is amazing. Bright, bold, fun, and full of energy, it is the perfect staple for this season. (Well, once you cut off that horrible flower…) Rachel pairs hers with a cream drop-waist dress, creating a casually sophisticated, slightly boho look. An edgy black necklace adds an interesting element of contrast to this bright aesthetic. Open toed boots are one of those trends that never quite catch on, because really, it makes no sense. And yet, they’re an interesting alternative to sandals or pumps if you’re feeling adventurous.

This is a great sophisticated day look that combines the structured edginess of the best winter fashion we fall in love with every year, and the vivacious femininity that makes spring fashion so awesome to wear. Cheers to Rachel for making it happen.

There are a few basic items that every girl should have in her closet. A pair of Alexander McQueen alien shoes is not one of them, but the blazer most definitely is. Being a super versatile item, the blazer can transition for almost every facet of your life. If you’re applying for a job or internship, the blazer instantly adds a professional flair to an outfit. On the other hand, if you wear a blazer over a t-shirt or with jeans, it dresses up (and cool-ifies) an otherwise casual outfit.

Maybe that explains why blazers are so very popular right now, especially the boyfriend variety. It’s like the jacket your boyfriend (or another male in your life) might hang over your shoulders if you get cold, only much more feminine and much more chic.  The popularity of this style proves while we can’t count on boys to be chivalrous, we can count on their styles to make us look hot.

There are some trends that last season after season: leggings, floral prints, gladiator sandals, etc. Then there are those that fade away: baby doll tops, harem pants. How are you supposed to know which trends to trash and which to invest in? Luckily, fashion is already way ahead of you. Fall 2009 and Resort 2010 collections have already been released, and Spring/Summer 2010 is in the works. For most designers, Resort is a preview of what’s coming next. Therefore, the collections provide great insight into what will be hot and what will be not for summer 2010.

We scoured the Resort looks of all the top designers – from Stella McCartney to Brian Reyes to Prada – and compiled a list of summer fashion trends that aren’t going anywhere:

One shoulder tops and dresses are chic without being too revealing. Don’t wear too much jewelry with this look as it makes a statement on its own.

Exposed zippers are edgy, but a favorite of designers such as Phillip Lim and Brian Reyes. This trend definitely has a future.

Which short-lived trends should you buy at cheap-chic retailers? There’s no way to be sure, but it doesn’t look like neon brights, fringe details, studs, or harem pants will be hanging around much longer.
