Sex and the City Trailer! It’s Here!

If you live in Manhattan, chances are you stumbled onto the set of the Sex and the City movie. They were everywhere this fall, prompting reporters, blogs, and crazy fan girls to speculate just what the plot of the feature would be.

Well, here’s our first look at what the ladies will be up to. Enjoy!

I Have Your Next Two Hours Planned…

red lips

Because I just spent two of mine reading this blog .You read that link right. It’s a chapstick blog, offering comprehensive reviews of every single chapstick that ever existed, with frequent updates.

This blog, my friends, is not just a blog. It is a public service, because there is nothing worse than a bad chapstick (and nothing better than a good one). The government should give these bloggers honors. Enjoy. Read More »

Use Your Head, Interns!

stressed intern

The prestigious summer internship. Or just any internship at all. Nowadays, it’s basically necessary to gain some sort of “professional” experience during your college years in order to make yourself a viable candidate for a job post-graduation.

Having lived in NYC the past two summers and spent my days happily as a lowly intern, I know what it’s like to be unpaid, exhausted, and basically melting in a non-air conditioned housing situation. But, I have noticed one recent trend lately that I think could be really damaging for an intern’s future. And that is “complaint blogging” or posting your misery all over the internet. Employers do notice these things and it really can come back to bite your ass in the future. Read More »

Blog Reading for Voyeurs

fishnets.jpgI’ll admit it—I’m a voyeur. Not the stand in your bushes, peer in your window type, but the naturally curious type. I position myself awkwardly in coffee-shop couches to “overhear” and interesting conversation. I read Oprah’s Book Club books over strangers’ shoulders on the subway. I even look in shopper’s carts at the supermarket and evaluate them based on their picks (my cart usually says “I will not apologize for my chocolate addiction and my consuming preoccupation with my cats.”)

My voyeuristic tendencies spill over into my online life as well, as evidenced by the blog reading I have bookmarked. Take a peek at some of my favorite strangers—borderline internet-stalking is more fun when shared!

College Call Girl

If you’ve ever had one of those weeks where you’re late on the bills and are contemplating selling your body so that you can pay off your magazine subscriptions, this one is for you. College Call Girl is a sassy hooker, and that’s just how I like it. The unapologetic and extremely candid writing will have you obsessively refreshing your browser, begging for more. If you’re the type to scream “T-M-I!” at your best friend when she details her latest hookup, stick to something more PG-13. Read More »

Blog like a Rock Star: LG and Billboard want U!

Mobile-Phone-Rock-ConcertI’m not really one to enter contests. I’ve never won anything in my life—even at my senior high school post prom party where everyone wins something, I only got a small fan. Everyone else had TVs, and stereos. I won a fan that broke three weeks later. Didn’t really convince me that I should enter things in the future.

I am, however, really into music, and would give one of my limbs to have access to so many concerts this summer (does anyone need a leg, cause I REALLY want to go to Rock the Bells). Which is why I was inspired to suck it up, and enter this really awesome contest. It’s so cool, I almost don’t want to tell you guys about it cause as of right now, there aren’t that many entries…. My chances are looking good. So don’t enter. Please.

LG has paired up with Billboard to give 30 people new camera phones, access to some of the hottest shows of the summer, and the forum to share your thoughts with the massive world of the blogosphere. All you have to do is write a 100 word essay about why you would make a great blogger, send them a “photo mash up”— which I hope I did properly— and you could be selected to cover shows across the country this summer. You use your new phone to take pictures, write your blog, and it will be posted on your own personal Billboard webpage. I would seriously pay them to let me do this. Read More »
