Sex. We all know what it is and how it works, but by now we also know that there’s really a lot more to it than that. Sex is about relationships and emotions, and pleasure, and connections. But really, when is comes down to it sex is about knowledge. Knowing what you want. Knowing what your partner wants. And knowing exactly what you are getting into. Recently, Hayden Panettiere stopped by the Ellen show to promote Scream 4 and casually mentioned the fact that some of her fans approach her and ask how how she has sex with her boyfriend. [Crickets] That’s a little personal, right? Right. But people are genuinely curious, seeing as Hayden barely scrapes 5’0″ while her boyfriend is 6’5″…and a boxer. Immediately, this anecdote blasted through the gossip-sphere and most comments expressed sentiments that boiled down to, “that must be so awkward/impossible/unsexy.”
To which I say: Whatever.
I’m sure some of you lovelies have, had, or will have a partner who is way bigger or way smaller than you. It happens. A hottie is a hottie, even if you only come up their waist or they only come up to your boobs, or if they’re practically a wrestler and you’re 87 pounds soaking wet. Sure, if you and your partner are drastically different builds, you’re probably going to work a little bit harder to maneuver yourselves into comfortable positions. When I started training for a half-marathon a few years back I was absolutely convinced that I would be in the best shape of my life. How could running at least 7 miles everyday not give me lean, sexy legs, rock hard abs, or toned arms?
Yet as D-day approached, I didn’t find myself shedding pounds; I found myself staying the same weight. Yes, I was burning thousands of calories, but my body was also demanding more fuel for those long aerobic sessions.
After weeks upon weeks without a change in my physical self, I began to wonder: Is it possible to be really fit, yet not look it? Because I was by no means “fat,” but I definitely didn’t obtain the incredible runner body I had hoped for. Read More »
