This has been, by far, the craziest NCAA tournament I can ever remember. Every single game so far has increased my blood pressure, spiked my heart rate and probably shaved a few years off my life. If your bracket has survived the madness, props to you; I’m already down a two Final Four teams (I guess that’s what you get for ever having faith in a team from Pittsburgh or Notre Dame). Woof.

After a much needed break to get our heart rates back to normal, the next round of the tournament, the Sweet 16, kicks off this Thursday. Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know before you grab that bucket of wings/anti-anxiety medication and park yourself in front of the TV.

Some of the biggest upsets so far:

Butler over Pitt – I usually wouldn’t give a rat’s *** about anything that came out of Pittsburgh, but when an eight-seeded Butler team knocks out the first number one seed of the tournament, it’s a BFD. Especially since I probably lost a couple hundred dollars thanks to those fools. This was probably one of the weirdest game endings, ever. It came down to foul shots.

VCU over Purdue – I had never even HEARD of VCU before this tournament. The Virginia Commonwealth Rams may be the 2011 Cinderella Story. One of their own players (Jamie Skeen) even said if he was a regular person, he probably wouldn’t have picked VCU to make it to the Sweet 16.

Marquette over ‘Cuse – If you saw Marquette’s reaction at the final buzz, you’d agree with me on this one… I don’t think anyone has ever been more excited to find out they are going to New Jersey.

Games to watch:

Butler/ Wisconsin – Butler is a very, very strong 8-seed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they upset Wisconsin and made it to the Elite 8.

Florida / BYU – The Jimmer isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Going to be a great fast-paced game that you won’t want to miss.

March Madness has nothing to do with the preparations for spring break, daylong drinking holidays like Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day, or studying for midterms. It is about the best three weeks of any sport -- the NCAA Tournament. The best of college basketball. It may be the only thing your friends are talking about the next few weeks so it may be a good idea to learn some important terms.

March Madness has nothing to do with the preparations for spring break, daylong drinking holidays like Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day, or studying for midterms. It is about the best three weeks of any sport — the NCAA Tournament. The best of college basketball. Even if you’ve never watched a single minute of any game all season, you can still enjoy the Big Dance. It may be the only thing your friends are talking about the next few weeks so it may be a good idea to learn some important terms.

Sweet 16/ Elite 8 / Final Four – These are the names of different rounds of the tournament. Throw out these phrases and you may be able to impress some of the testosterone-driven so much they may remove themselves from their TV screens. It’s a long shot, but it couldn’t hurt.

Bracket – Bracket, bracket, bracket. You’ve definitely heard this word A LOT this week. March Madness is a huge gambling event. People pick their choices to win every game. There is absolutely no science behind this. (I know people who make their picks based on school name, mascot and the uniform colors.) It may be too late to input an official bracket, but you can print one at ESPN or Yahoo Sports and make your own picks for the rest of the games.

Bracket Buster – The upset game that ruins everyone’s brackets and their chances at a large pool of money. This may mean nothing to you now but Morehead State beating Louisville made a lot of people really, really angry. Think about it as the higher number seed (the worse team) beating the better team (the lower seed). After a really big upset you can say that your bracket is “busted.”

Kemba Walker – One of the star players on the UConn team and sometimes referred to as King Kemba. Think, Michael Jordan. He is gorgeous to watch on the court as he blows up the boards (scores lots of points) and not bad too look at during his post-game interviews. Mmm.

Buzzer Beater – The shot taken right before the clock runs out, when the buzzer would sound. It literally beats the buzzer. This mostly refers to the baskets that win or tie a game.

Cinderella Story – The underdog team that should have lost in the early rounds of the tournament but managed to beat a big name team to advance. And just like Cinderella (and every other Disney princess), you can’t help but root for them.

Buckeye – As a Penn Stater, I am ingrained to hate everything Ohio State. Ohio State received the overall number 1 seed for the tournament and many think they are favored to win the whole thing. The Buckeye is their mascot… and it’s a nut. SMH.

The Ship – No, this is not a reference to that large cruise ship you just got off of. The Ship, or the Championship Game, will be held on April 4.

You can check out any of the games on TruTV, CBS, TNT and TBS. This is the first year that every single game is being televised so grab some popcorn, open up a cold beer, and make yourself comfortable on your couch. Or take your new-found knowledge to the bar to impress some sports fans! Either way… let the madness begin.

You, dear readers, have spoken.

The battle was tough. Some good men lost (I’m talking to you, Backstreet Boys and Skip Its). There were some major upsets (I loved Gel Pens just as much as the next 12-year-old, but who knew they would make it further than Monica Lewinsky?!). There were some huge surprises (Beanie Babies didn’t make it past round 1? WTF?)

But much like the 2008 presidential election, you came out in droves, and let your voice be heard week after week. And with 61% of the vote, you made it very clear that Cory and Topanga were the biggest and best thing to come from the ‘90s. (Side opinion: The mushroom cut that Sean used to rock – not really all that great.)

To say we at CC HQ were shocked is an understatement. Hell, even Cory Matthews himself was speechless.

Seriously, we asked him.

Yes, after getting all nostalgic for those days in Mr. Feeny’s classroom, I stalked Cory Ben Savage online and the next thing I knew, I was chatting it up with him like we were long lost besties. He was genuine, funny and he busted out into song FOUR times (everything from Offspring to classic ‘90s Mariah). We talked about reality TV (he loves the Real Housewives – especially Atlanta), we talked Cory and Topanga and, obvi, we talked CollegeCandy’s favorite topic: the ‘90s.

And, honestly, I’m not sure where Ben Savage was for that entire decade. Maybe he was too busy kissing Topanga and being a star of TGIF to know what was really going on, but the kid didn’t even know what a Tamagotchi was (gasp!). Never had Pogs. Never played with Devil Sticks. It’s safe to assume he never experienced the pleasure of Dunkaroos or Squeeze Its, playing the game LIFE or tossing around a hacky sack. Poor kid.

But either way, it’s been years since we’ve gotten to spend some QT with the guy we grew up with every Friday night. The one who was always there and never seemed to care that you were awkward or had terrible poofy bangs or were REALLY, and I mean REALLY, bad at doing the Macarena. So just for you, dear readers, here’s what you’ve been waiting for; our interview with the one and only Ben Savage:

CC: What are you doing these days you know, now that you’re not on TGIF anymore?

Ben: I’m still acting. I’ve basically been focusing on doing independent films. I really like independent films because there’s a lot more creative control and a lot more creative independence. I really enjoy it. As far as the TV show stuff is going, I’m actually developing my own shows so I’ve been writing a lot and producing and I’m kind of working on developing shows that kind of take off from the Boy Meets World model. I look at TV today and I don’t see a lot of shows like a Friends or a Boy Meets World available for people in their twenties and thirties. And basically that’s where my interests are now – in creating some sort of show that fits that mold.

CC: I feel like with Boy Meets World or Friends you (as the viewer) feel like you actually know those characters on some level and I think the reason why our readers kept voting for Cory and Topanga in our ‘90s bracket is because they feel like they grew up with them. Those characters were a part of our lives for a significant number of years.

Ben: Right. And that’s another thing. Whether it’s our generation with Boy Meets World or Friends or whatever- on a sitcom-based show you kind of grow with the characters, and you watch their relationships play out, and you watch their drama and their love lives and you can really kind of bond with these characters. Unfortunately in reality shows you don’t really bond with the characters the same way. You know, with the kids from American Idol, with a few exceptions, you don’t really hear that much from them once they’ve won the show. And ideally I’d like to create a show that people could sink their teeth into and grow with.

CC: What do you think it was about Cory or Boy Meets World that made it such an integral part of the ‘90s?

Ben: I never really saw myself as an integral part of the ‘90s because I was a teenager too. But without sounding too cheesy I will say that I think it was two fun lovable characters and I think it was a fun relationship to watch flourish and develop. I think it gave people something to follow and be interested in and get excited about. They were relateable characters. I always saw Cory as the neurotic, funny kid that you know, and I feel like everyone has a friend like that.

CC: Okay, so where do you think Cory would be these days?

Ben: I think he’s living happily married with one baby and probably another on the way. Wherever he is out there I hope he’s doing well.

CC: Were you surprised to find that Cory and Topanga made it down to the final two?

Ben: Surprised is the understatement of the century. Flattered and floored is more like it.

CC: So we here at CollegeCandy love the ‘90s. Actually, love might not be a strong enough word to describe our feelings. What was your favorite ’90s toy that you had to have?

Ben: I guess I was obsessed with Nintendo 64. I was a teenager. I don’t even know what a Tamagotchi or yamagoochi or…I don’t even know what that is.

CC: Wait! Back it up! You don’t know what a Tamagotchi is!?

Ben: No! I was working! What is it?

CC: That is unacceptable! You were clearly a deprived teen. They should have those on set for you. It was a virtual pet that you have to feed and empty its poop. And the poop looked like Hershey Kisses. It was total awesomeness and I feel really bad that you didn’t have one.

Ben: I feel bad, too. But I had other wonderful benefits so I can’t complain.

CC: What was your favorite movie of the ‘90s?

Ben: Oh God, I loved every movie from the ‘90s. Would it be too lame to say She’s All That with Rachel Leigh Cook? Honestly, my favorite movie of the ‘90s, because I was fifteen, was probably Braveheart. I was obsessed with Braveheart. I loved the soundtrack. It made me want to go to Scotland and become a warrior. But it faded after a while…after months of therapy, it faded.

CC: Was there a clothing trend from the ‘90s you were obsessed with having?

Ben: I just remember Diesel jeans became really big in the 90s. Diesel jeans and New Balance tennis shoes. That was my thing.

(Writers Note: Ben Savage never rocked JNCOS (or knew what they were), thank god.)

CC: What about a ‘90s event?

Ben: I’d say the biggest let down for me was something really, really ridiculously crazy happening when it turned from 1999 to 2000 and nothing really crazy happened. Do you remember the Y2K scare? It was a bit of a let down all around.

CC: Yes! It was 12:01 and nothing happened and everyone was like ‘well that’s lame.’ Okay, last ‘90s question – who was your favorite band or music group?

Ben: Weezer. Without a doubt. Or Offspring. I really liked Offspring, too. (Busts into song.)

CC: In the battle of the ‘90s geeks, who do you think would win: Urkel or Minkus?

Ben: I’m going to say Urkel because I remember when he…I don’t know. I’m just going to say Urkel. There’s no way I can get out of this without sounding like a jerk. Wait, let me say this as an addendum to Urkel; remember when Urkel made the transition from Urkel to Stephan? Well I think Stephan would beat Minkus. Easily.

CC: Do you keep in touch with anyone from the Boy Meets World cast?

Ben: I do. We talk a lot, but it’s kind of like when you grow up with anyone, everyone kind of goes their own separate ways. But I do still keep in touch and everyone’s doing well and doing their own thing.

CC: What are the chances that there will ever be a Boy Meets World reunion episode?

Ben: Slim.

CC: Tear. Any favorite memories from playing Cory Matthews?

Ben: No favorite memories…they were all great. But I do remember that they always had amazing food on our set!

CC: Okay, so level with me. Girls probably approach you all the time when they’re wasted and are all like “OMG you’re Cory Matthews!” Does that get old, or do you just thank God for handing you the easiest way to get laid on a silver platter?

Ben: (Laughs— perhaps a bit nervously) I was never cool enough to get girls to sleep with me just based on that. I’d say it’s certainly a nice benefit, but most girls need a little bit more convincing to go to bed with me than just that.

CC: What was your favorite TV show growing up?

Ben: Friends, Seinfeld, and Saved by the Bell.

CC: And your favorite show now?

Ben: Real Housewives ANYTHING.

CC: Quality choice. Okay, so where did you go to college?

Ben: Stanford.

CC: Looking back on your college years, is there advice that you’d give to college students now?

Ben: Well I think for me, personally, college was my one time to be kind of a normal kid because I’d been working my whole life. When I got to college, that was kind of my four years just for me and so I really jumped headfirst into the whole college scene. I joined a fraternity, I was partying every night, I was obsessed with all the different classes you could take and studying and I went to every football game and [did] every activity that you could possibly do. I was, like, Mr. College for a while. And I do still cry every day that it’s over. I was exhausted because every day I had thirty-five activities to do but I had the time of my life. My advice for kids in college would be for them to just really, really cherish those four years because you’ll never get them back. And they’re not your whole life, but they’re definitely a very special time and you should do all you can to make the most of them- and have a blast.

CC: Drink of choice?

Ben: Daytime: Diet Coke or Snapple Peach Tea. Nighttime: Vodka Soda, Amstel Light.

CC: 5 things you can’t live without?

Ben: Frozen Yogurt, Blackberry, terrific friends, Florence + The Machine albums, and sushi.

CC: Do you have a real life Topanga?

Ben: A hot, intelligent, and devoted wife? Nope, haven’t met my own Topanga yet.

CC: And last but not least… Do you have an ‘awards acceptance speech’ you want to give or anything you want to say to our readers who voted you as the BEST thing to come from the ‘90s? Sadly we don’t have a gold plated trophy to give you, but perhaps we can make you a paper-plate award.

Ben: Thank you, thank you, thank you for voting Cory/Topanga as the best thing to come from the ‘90s. You all had a lot of great things to choose from and I’m flattered that you selected us! However I don’t blame those of you who voted for the Spice Girls….they were pretty damn good! Spice Up Your Life was a pretty damn good song.

(Writers note: I can confirm that Ben Savage STILL jams to Spice Up Your Life. If this were Facebook, I would click the Like button)

And, for all you Cory and Topanga fans out there, just a little taste of what made them so lovable (provided by a serious crazy person superfan.)

Over the past month, we’ve been narrowing down the best of the best of our favorite decade and we've had the tough job of saying goodbye to some of our personal favorites: Skip-its, Dunkaroos, Super Nintendo, the Olsen Twins, and every blogger's original writing tool, the gel pen. And now, we're down to the FINAL TWO: Cory and Topanga VS. The Spice Girls.

It might be 2010, but here at CollegeCandy we’re still stuck in the ’90s. All you have to do is say Chumbawhumba and we’re off and running on a ’90s nostalgia debate that lasts the entire day. We know we’re not the only people out there that still rock out to N’Sync and still remember the desperation you felt when you lost your favorite Pogs slammer. So instead of constantly arguing amongst the CollegeCandy team, we decided to throw the question out to our readers and choose, once and for all, what is the best thing to come from the ’90s (besides our many devoted readers, of course). And we got some (unexpected) answers back!

Over the past month, we’ve been narrowing down the best of the best of our favorite decade and we’ve had the tough job of saying goodbye to some of our personal favorites: Skip-its, Dunkaroos, Super Nintendo, The Fresh Prince, the Olsen Twins, and every blogger’s original writing tool, the gel pen.

And now, we’re down to the FINAL TWO: Cory and Topanga VS. The Spice Girls. Or more accurately put, the couple that defines the decade and taught us what college marriage really meant vs. the music that had us all yelling GIRL POWER.

This vote will be difficult, it will be challenging, and it will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself. It’s safe to say that it will make Rose’s decision on the Titanic look like child’s play. But that’s why we’re here – to figure out what is the best thing to come from the ’90s.

So vote now, make your voice heard, and check back Thursday for results, as well as a super ’90s interview with one of our bracket finalists!

So, in the fashion of every guy’s wet dream, March Madness, we’ve created an “I Love the ’90s” bracket. We’ve narrowed down the best of the best of our favorite decade for the past few weeks and now that we’re at the final four, it is starting to get pretty crazy. Like Are You Afraid of the Dark plot line CRAZY. Cory and Topanaga are somehow beating all the odds and climbing their way to the top. The Spice Girls are going against one of the greatest scientific advances of our time…THE TAMAGOTCHI. It’s absolute madness in the CollegeCandy offices as we try to figure out how the gel pen got so far in the game/draw butterflies on each other’s hands with the milky pink one.

But that’s the whole reason we’re doing this and we’re excited to narrow it down even further today. We’re focused on the Final Four, baby. Who’s gonna make it to the LAST ROUND? Anything’s possible (clearly, based on the Cory and Topanga bizness) and we’re just waiting on your vote to see what happens. So vote now and then come back Monday to see who made it to the final round.

See the whole shebang right here.

Ready to vote? Pick your favorite from each match-up below. We’ll tally the scores and let you know who won when we gear up for the next round of votes on Thursday! And don’t forget to take a trip down memory lane and sound off in the comments!

So, in the fashion of every guy’s wet dream, March Madness, we’ve created an “I Love the ’90s” bracket. We’ve been narrowing down the best of the best of our favorite decade for awhile now and it’s getting INTENSE. Zack Morris is OUT. Spice Girls are IN. Clinton and Lewisky CREAMED Pam Anderson’s sex tape. (OK, bad choice of words….)

And somehow, Cory and Topanga are still in the game? WTF?

But that’s the whole reason we’re doing this (it’s a good thing the Olsen twins still have that clothing line….) and we’re excited to narrow it down even further today. We’re focused on the Elite 8 today. Who’s gonna make it to round 6? Will Cory and Topanga be able to take down TGIF? Can the Tamagatchi woop Super Nintendo’s ass? We won’t know until you cast your vote.

So vote now and then come back Thursday you can keep letting us know what is the best thing to ever come from the 1990 and beyond.

Take a closer look at today’s match ups right here.

Ready to vote? Pick your favorite from each match-up below. We’ll tally the scores and let you know who won when we gear up for the next round of votes on Thursday! And don’t forget to take a trip down memory lane and sound off in the comments!

Before you get all “WTF is wrong with you?!” let me explain.

I understand the appeal of March Madness. Really, I do. We all need a little distraction to get us through this month when midterms and papers abound, everyone’s depressed post-Spring Break and the warm weather is teasing us. But while I’m normally a pretty enthusiastic sports fan, I haven’t had a spare moment this month to turn on an episode of Gossip Girl, let alone keep track of a bracket (that I would most likely pick blindly, like my girlfriends that chose to participate).

When it comes down to it, I’m just bitter that my friends are fussing over the Elite Eight while I’m spending eight hours a day at the library. And I could really use that $600 prize…

Hence, my love-hate relationship with March Madness. I love sports (although I admittedly don’t follow college basketball), and the whole thing is awesome in theory. Nail-biter games, last-second-game-winning baskets, drinking lots of beer on a weeknight…. I see why people go mad for March Madness.

But I haven’t seen my guy friends in a week (I have lightbulbs that need to be changed and luggage that needs to be lifted, hello!). On the rare occasion I do run into a few of them (usually between classes), the convos are inevitably all about brackets and players and upsets. Which I do not understand. And while they’re all sitting at the bar chowing down on wings and rooting on whatever teams are still left at this point, I’m sitting in the ‘brary, alone, drinking bottled water (because that’s all we’re allowed to have).

March Madness, I want my friends back!

I’ve always appreciated the phrase “no offense but (insert ANYTHING!)” for it’s ability to take away all offense to the next part of the statement. I went through about a thirteen year phrase where I truly believed that saying “no offense, but” before I said the most heinous thing possible would make it impossible for the person to be mad at me.

Needless to say I lost a few (all) friends over this phase.

As the time starts to tick down at school I’m not only getting increasingly nostalgic (remember that hilarious time I fell on the ice and broke my tailbone!??!) but also increasingly eager to dole out some honesty before certain people go out to the real world. Hence I started the first official Honesty Month at Syracuse. It’s an entire month of “no offense but.” I know, fabulous idea right?

And I really don’t mean offense to a lot of the people that are going to experience Honestly Month first-hand. I truly want them to know that their behaviors, habits, and personality quirks are completely unacceptable both on campus and off. For example, if you ever push me the way that you always push me in the bathroom line at the bar in your soon-to-be workplace, you’re not going to last very long. Or if you think that your favorite outfit is truly okay outside of theme party (and you seem to think that) you will find yourself the joke of your hometown. Or, my most long-awaited one: Mrs. [insert loving mother of some guy who treated you like sh*t], are you aware you raised your son to treat woman as if he was a neanderthal?

Now, I suggested that the best way to kick off Honesty Month would be to create a friendship bracket similar to March Madness. I’m not really into basketball and I wasn’t completely aware that Syracuse even had a team until we started winning, so I missed the whole bracket fun. I think it would be a fun and interesting way to find out who we like best and a great jumping off point for who needs some honesty to help improve themselves. I haven’t worked out all the kinks yet – I’m not sure how people would advance or how to convince my friends that this isn’t one of my awkward jokes but rather a legitimate suggestion – but that’s neither here nor there.

I gotta get this thing moving fast; the month has already started and I have friends to offend, lose, and enlighten along the way.

And so it begins. After 11 long, tortuous, pain-staking months of waiting… the Big Dance is finally here.

Once you get past the fact that the NCAA Selection Committee made the mistake of not including some of the best teams that could have been this year’s Cinderella (Arizona State instead of St. Mary’s? come on), the board actually came up with a pretty good draw. And for the next 2 weeks, I will be fully immersing myself in the insanity and awesomeness that is the most exciting sporting event of the year: March Madness.

The best conference in the country (and maybe in history) is hands-down the Big East. 3 out of the 4 number 1 seeds are from the Big East: UConn, Louisville, and Pitt. Even Barack Obama believes in the dominance of this conference, since his bracket that he filled out on Wednesday (live on ESPN! what a cool prez) shows it filling half of his Elite Eight. Although Obama didn’t have our lovely school in his Final Four, Coach K isn’t worried.

And he shouldn’t be worried either. Thursday was the big first day of the NCAA tournament, and the big seeds shined just like they were predicted to. During lunch I heard the big news of #1-seeded UNC ripping Radford to shreds in the South, winning 101-58 (42 points too many, in my opinion). The other #1-seeded UConn also came out with a deafening roar, with the Huskies winning 103-47 against Chattanooga. #2 Memphis (who I have going to the Final Four) won as well, and of course the almighty Blue Devils beat Binghamton (ha, no chance at all).

The upsets were few, but pretty significant. Both the #10′s beat both the #7′s: Maryland showed they earned their spot in the draw by crushing California, while Michigan just got by Clemson (serves them right for beating Duke once in a fluke). Editor’s Note: GO BLUE!

#12 Western Kentucky beat #5 Illinois in a shocker, which definitely messed some of my friend’s brackets up and led to some name-calling on FB statuses (but with a “hilltopper” as mascot, they’re kinda asking for it). #9 Texas A&M beat #8 Brigham Young, which was expected, but the one non-upset that got me most upset (because it ruined my otherwise perfect bracket) was #6 UCLA squeezing by #11 VA Commonwealth! The score was 65-64, in a real nail-biter of a game (seriously, you should see my nails).

Oh well, 15 out of 16 – that ain’t bad. Watching the madness ensue on our flat-screen tv in the common room – that ain’t bad. Having Super G on our team – that’s the total opposite of bad. Now, if only Ty Lawson from UNC never comes back from sitting-out due to his injury…well, that’ll just be the icing on the cake.

Selection Sunday is over. The 64 college basketball teams have been chosen and March Madness has officially begun.

I’ve already received 26 invitations from guys asking me to fill out a bracket and join their pool. I’m honored that so many people thought of me, but I think it may have more to do with the fact that those 26 guys know I know absolutely nothing about basketball than the fact that they love and respect my opinion.

Don’t get …

Selection Sunday is over. The 64 college basketball teams have been chosen and March Madness has officially begun.

I’ve already received 26 invitations from guys asking me to fill out a bracket and join their pool. I’m honored that so many people thought of me, but I think it may have more to do with the fact that those 26 guys know I know absolutely nothing about basketball than the fact that they love and respect my opinion.

Don’t get me wrong – I love part of March Madness. I love anything that involves hanging out with a bunch of guys talking sports and drinking beer. There is something so cute about boys and sports – the excitement, the high fives, the school spirit.

But… I hate basketball.

No, it’s not because Michigan’s basketball program has been less than fantastic over the course of my stay on campus. It’s just that I find the game to be boring to watch. It’s just a game of back and forth to me. My team scores, their team scores, my team scores, their team scores…. over and over again. Unlike football where each successful play could be the winning play, basketball games only really matter for 5 minutes. The last 5. The rest of the game just doesn’t matter to me.

Oh, and it doesn’t help that this entire March Madness situation totally trumps my March 21st birthday.

I’m pretty sure I’m alone in this seeing how many Facebook status updates include “NCAA” and a lot of exclamation points this morning. Everyone seems to be basketball crazy. Yes, even my great aunt (who also happens to be on Facebook. WTF!?). I just don’t see what all the hype is about.

What about you? Are you mad about March Madness?
