It’s Time for a Project Runway Finale! [POLL]

What is Michael hididng behind those shades?

So the time has finally come. After months of “making it work,” (and 12 contestants who clearly couldn’t) we’re finally going to find out who’s takin’ home the big prize on Project Runway. Not gonna lie, I nearly forgot it was the big day. To say this wasn’t my favorite season of the show (obvi that title goes to Christian Siriano’s year) is a gross understatement. Not only were the contestants rather boring, but I swear the judges are on crack.

Just look at some of the things that made them drool: Read More »

Fall 2010 Fashion Week All-Stars

Seeing as the Olympics are being held on my home soil, I should be paying closer attention. But last week I was distracted by my real love: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Though I’m craving spring clothes more than anything else right now, NYFW kept me on the edge of my seat as I excitedly began planning next fall’s outfits.

As always, there were a lot of amazing collections during Fashion Week, but there were five designer gold medalists that really blew the rest away. Their designs were sexy, sleek and wearable…. and assuming I somehow make $1 million between now and September, I will be grabbing every last one of their pieces. Read More »

Project Runway: All Is Right In The World

pr6-ep12-43

Is bitchiness contagious, cuz Jordana definitely caught it.

So it’s finally time for Fashion Week. Fashion Week that happened a year ago, but a big moment for those designers who made it through, nonetheless. It’s been a long journey. 12 challenges and ots of lost talent along the way (we’re talking mostly to you, Ra’Mon!). But after last night’s episode, I can honestly say that those judges finally did some good…er…judging.

So let’s give a big thanks to Cindy Crawford. You go, girl. And, DAMN, you look good.

Last night’s challenge was to find some inspiration at L.A.’s Getty Center. I’m not quite sure what that place was or what the purpose of it is, but the mayor was quite proud of it so I went along for the ride. Each designer could choose anything in there to inspire a look and then go to it.

I’m not sure what happened along the way, but it seems that Christopher must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up at a David’s Bridal booth at the Renaissance Fair. The “dress” he put together was heavy, ugly and pretty infuriating if you ask me. And you’re reading this post, so you definitely asked. Read More »

Project Runway Rundown: The Big Finale

finale.jpgTonight was a big night with big decisions: Do I watch the presidential debate, or do I watch the highly anticipated season finale of Project Runway?

It was a difficult choice, but I did both. And after almost 3 hours of TV, my ass is asleep.

The season finale of PR was the same as always: model castings, dog poop, rushed and stressed designers backstage, “OH MY GOD THIS IS MY MOMENT”s, and then the big show.

When the main event finally arrived I got a little excited (although that could have just been the effects of the obscene amounts of coffee I chugged to make it through the night). I was really pulling for Korto – she was my favorite all along – but couldn’t wait to see what Leanne marched down the super-long runway. And, maybe, I was curious about Kenley’s collection.

And for the first time all season I was not disappointed. (If you opted for the debate, you can catch the collections here.)

The collections were all really beautiful, even Kenley’s. Each designer came through in their own unique way and I actually found myself saying (out loud!), “I’d wear that!” “I’d totally wear that!” “OMG I NEED TO BUY THAT OFF OF BLUEFLY.” (The product placement worked!)

Warning: Spoiler after the jump. I repeat: spoiler after the jump!

The Real Debate: Watch The Debate or Project Runway?

pr.jpgVS. debater580_.jpg

Today is a big day. Not only is it Hump Day and National Grouch Day, but it also happens to be the final presidential debate before the election and the season finale (not to mention last episode ever to run on Bravo!) of Project Runway!

Ahhh! Too much in one night.

What is a girl to do? Obviously, the debate is important; we want to be informed voters, right? And being that the election is only like 4ish weeks away, we need all the information we can get. But, we’ve put so much precious time into watching every last episode of Project Runway (which was difficult considering how crappy the season has been!), so how can we throw in the towel now?

And it’s not like we can flip back and forth between the two events during commercials – the damn debate doesn’t have any! And both the debate and Project Runway are far too important to DVR and just “catch later.” Some people seem to think there is a way to do it all, but that is just risky; you could miss some major talking points/uneven hemlines!

So which is it gonna be? The last and most important debate, or the hot mess that will be Kenley’s line comin’ down that runway? (Don’t worry; we won’t judge.)

CC’s Favorite Looks From Fashion Week 2008

fashion.jpg

Next to Welcome Week, NY Fashion Week is our favorite week of the year. We may actually like it more, but only because we can remember what happened/don’t feel like total hell at the end of it.What could be better than watching our favorite designers send their newest duds down the runway? And what better way to spend our days than by taking all those delectable looks and figuring out ways to make them our own?

Ooo wee! We get so excited just thinking about it.

This year’s fashion week did not dissapoint. Everyone from Nanette Lepore to The Gap pulled out all the stops and sent some brilliant looks through the tents at Bryant Park. We sifted through every last collection (yes, our lives are sad and horribly difficult) to bring you our favorites of Fashion Week 2008. Sure, actually being at the shows next to Anna Wintour and Rachel Zoe would have been glamorous and awesome, but we got to do this in our PJs.

Which is how we roll.

And wouldn’t want it any other way.

Tales from Fashion Week: Nautica

nautica

This look is from the Nautica Fall 2007 collection…show your boyfriends!

Bright and early this Wednesday morning, fashion’s bleary-eyed elite (and me) invaded New York’s Bryant Park for Mercedes Benz Spring 2008 Fashion Week.

Phew.

My first stop? Nautica.

I know, ladies. It’s not a women’s line, but trust me when I say that my report on this specific show is worth it.

The theme? Hot male models with no shirts on.

Okay, no. I’m no fashion maven so to me the theme was a kind of bathrobe/bathing suit/sports jacket thing. But fashionable nonetheless!

If this collection was any indication of what’s to come for men’s wear, expect to see your best guys wearing the following:

Those Ray Ban sunglasses every celeb has been sporting all summer? Expect to see these classic frames everywhere.

They aren’t just sunglasses anymore, clear lenses make these frames totally wearable 24/7.

Vests, vests, and more vests. Nautica was all business. That said, don’t expect your boy to don cufflinks next spring. It was complete desheveled organized chaos. Read More »
