Rent the Runway's interns model some of the amazing looks you can get scoop!
Everyone knows girls love pretty clothes and sparkly baubles and high-high-heels. We love to look our best, shop the latest trends and avoid the sweatpants-to-lecture-again rut like the Bubonic Plague (though, hey, it happens). While it would be glorious to have infinite amounts of cash to toss away on top designer labels each semester, that’s rarely the nature of the situation. Or a college woman’s bank account.
And just when we thought our hopes and dreams of being captured by The Sartorialist were dashed, here comes Rent the Runway! Now instead of shelling out hundreds for a dress you’ll likely only wear once, simply rent it for a fraction of the cost.
Rent the Runway has studied the hottest fall trends and wants to help you get ready for back to school! We’re teaming up with them to offer a $500 (!!!) gift card to a lucky winner so you can bring the looks from the runway to your campus. Enter here. Read More »

[While everyone is fabulous in their own right, we thought we should celebrate the campus fashionistas of the world for their continued excellence in not looking like a hot mess for class. So, we started stalking those girls on campus (think Victoria's fun accessories) to get a few pics and get some tips on their personal style.
And maybe a restraining order or two.
But it’s worth it to highlight fresh, unique wardrobe choices that show personality and the courage to wear what you believe in. You think you’ve got some major style? Know someone else who’s always looking ferosh? Think the world needs to see what she can do? Send us an email with some photos and she could be the next fashionista celebrated right here.]
For someone who adores UFC, Scaachi definitely does not dress the part (though if you bought her a “Tap out” t-shirt she’d probably love you forever). The first time I was formally introduced to Scaachi, she was dressed like Jackie O. (it was Halloween), but since then I’ve always admired her feminine style. I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve seen her in pants in the months I’ve known her, as she says skirts and dresses are much more sophisticated and give her room to move (in case she needs to practice her wrestling moves?).
The perfect example of how to make discount fashion look good, Scaachi always looks put together, despite the fact that she shops at some of the thriftiest stores around. But what stands out about her most is her signature accessory: an interesting, unique coat. She’s always got one topping off her outfits and the day I found her, it was this black brocade coat that stopped me in my tracks. It was so beautiful, yet so understated at the same time (much like all of Scaachi’s accessory choices). She didn’t look like a girl on her way to class – she looked like some fabulous fashion magazine editor on her way to a shoot.
Maybe it’s her attention to detail, maybe it’s her ability to mix things together to get just the right look, or maybe it’s the bold lip she favors (which most college girls shy away from), but this girl’s got a style that totally inspires me. Read More »

Allow me to introduce you to Tatomme, probably the only girl I’ve ever met who can truly pull off a chambray jumper. And by “pull off” I mean “work it like she’s got Rachael Zoe dressing her and she’s walkin’ down a runway.” I just met her this semester, and I was instantly impressed with her style. We are in a few classes together right now – including being on a team in TV - and I look forward to seeing what interesting and unique outfits she comes up with each day. She incorporates so many things that I could never pull off, and some I might even wonder why she ever thought to even try it on, but I always admire what she is wearing… and the creative mind that thought to put it all together.
I mean, those shoes and the jumper and that jacket? How did she ever know it would all work together? But it does. Flawlessly.
My favorite thing about Tatomme’s look, though, is that signature bag, which she casually slings across her body as we lug camera equipment across campus. When I asked her about it, I learned that this Liz Claiborne bag originally belonged to Tatomme’s mom, who wore it when she was about our age.
Vintage, cute and sentimental…. I just love it. Read More »

I love this drapey cardigan. It's the little details like that set Renee's style apart.

I work with Renee and whenever we work together, I always catch myself stealing glances at her fantastic outfits. I love how Renee makes fashion look so easy, like she didn’t even try but somehow always looks totally chic and put together.
I’m also inspired by how Renee takes really basic pieces and adds little details here and there to really set her look apart from the other thousands of girls roaming our campus. Whether it’s a fun ring, a pop of color/print under an otherwise all-black ensemble, or a perfectly worn-in pair of boots, Renee knows just how to put things together so she fits in and stands out all at once.
But the best thing about Renee’s style is that it works for the no muss, no fuss college lifestyle. Renee proves that with just a little bit of planning and a few fun details, you can be casual, comfortable and still undeniably cute. Read More »

What is Thompson Rivers University?
Where is Thompson Rivers University?
To tell you the truth, I have no idea. (Without some Wikipedia, of course.) All I know is that a very creative and fashionable girl named Kimberly works that campus like a runway. She recently sent us an email asking that we “expand our [Campus Couture] idea and take a look at a student from Canada!” (So that’s where TRU is!) Little did Kimberly know, we’ve been featuring same Canucks all along, but after looking at her pictures I figured we could add another to the list; those Canadians have some great style.
Kimberly “takes great pride in her clothes” and while I don’t know her from some other hockey lovin’ Canadian, that is obvious in the unique mix of textures, colors and styles she has pulled together here. Way to go, Kimberly. You represent Canada well, girlfriend! Read More »

The best part about having Meredith as my roommate for the past two years has to be my unlimited access to her wardrobe. I can’t even complain about her taking up the entire closet because it’s always the first place I look when I need something cute to wear out.
Meredith can put together the perfect outfit for any occasion. She works at Ann Taylor, so she’s expert at putting together a professional-but-not-boring outfit for class or a job interview. Despite her college student budget, she can always throw together an elegant ensemble for a swanky dinner party. And when it’s time to have fun, she’s never without a cute/crazy/sexy outfit to party in. Read More »

I met Taylor a year ago and after attending a university where everyone showed up to class in their sweats or PJ pants, her look was a breath of fresh air. Her style is a unique blend of thrifted and vintage with new basic pieces, and a collection of accessories that add perfectly to every outfit.
Like many fashionistas, when I met Taylor she had a signature accessory, the headband. Though she has since abandoned the now mainstream hair accessory, she is constantly incorporating new accessories into her looks. On this particular day, her black fedora perfectly topped off her outfit, making this look truly Taylor. As well, Taylor is one of the few people that pulls off denim on denim. And she looks damn good doing it. Her faded jean jacket with dark skinny jeans are the perfect combination. In our often unpredictable Canadian climate, Taylor always layers. Her tip: “longer loose layers juxtaposed with more tailored pieces.” Read More »

Ashley lives in the room next door to mine so I see her a lot. Yet somehow, every time I spot her in the hall (or lounging on her bed) she’s wearing something different that looks amazing on her. Ashley’s got serious style. She not only knows what looks good, but she knows how to put things together that other people wouldn’t think of. And it always works.
The thing I probably love most about her fashion sense is that she always looks unique. She takes trendy pieces and makes them all her own, something I think we all wish we knew how to do. Plus, she’s not afraid to mix colors, patterns or styles and she always makes it look so right. If you see her around campus and you’re a fashionista, take notice; you’ll probably get some awesome ideas for how to spice up your wardrobe. Read More »

I knew I wanted to feature Amalia for my fashionista-of-the-week from the moment I saw her walking to Psych class, leggings tucked into her buckled riding boots and a funky bright-blue American Apparel zip-up on top. Her clothing choices draw attention, probably because she takes her fashion inspiration from all over the world, including Portugal and Brazil, which she’s visited many times (…not for the sun or the beach or anything).
And when it comes to jewelry, I really think she started the statement jewelry trend; I have yet to see her without a glam bracelet or a pair of adorable dangly earrings that somehow totally make her outfit. She’s got spunk and is not afraid to be big and bold in her fashion choices, and that’s just the way the boys like her. Well, that and her booty, but that’s a whole different post.

1) Describe your personal style.
Really eclectic and always changing. Two weeks ago I hated animal print, now I can’t get enough of it. I also really love bright colors, no matter what time of year it is.
2) You can’t leave your house without your ________.
Jewelry; I feel naked without my necklaces and rings. Also, during the winter I am never seen without a scarf on, usually one from H&M. Read More »

She’s a senior and while she may be dealing with a bad case of Senioritis, her style certainly isn’t. No matter what time she wakes up in the morning – sometimes ten minutes before class…and sometimes ten minutes after it’s started – Jessica always stays fly and manages to pull on something cute. Even if its her simple staple look – one of her many v-necks, a scarf, and a pair of comfy jeans. She just makes everything look good. What got me to notice her in a sea of students wearing jeans and v-necks, though?
Her hot pink Longchamp bag and a fantastically contrasting bright scarf. This girl just knows how to stand out.

Jessica in 3 words: tongue-in-cheek, spontaneous, eclectic
1) Describe your personal style.
I’ve never really defined my personal style; it’s pretty eclectic and definitely varies with my mood. I’m from San Francisco and people sometimes tell me I have that easy-going West Coast vibe: skinny jeans, colorful Chucks, v-neck tee, and scarf. I love v-neck tees and have them in every color. Sometimes I’ll feel more girly and wear a pretty sundress with sandals or flip-flops (never heels, just too uncomfortable for me). I don’t know, I go through phases! I’ve been through a punk phase, a boho phase, a hipster phase…I don’t have much time to get ready in the morning, though, so I definitely go for something comfortable and easy to wear. Read More »
