So, I know this seems a bit ridiculous to be wanting a lightweight cotton jacket right now, but hear me out: the fall/spring light jacket-wearing seasons are so short that it just doesn’t make sense to wear a cotton jacket solely for those seasons. We’re lucky enough to have Halloween fall on a Friday this year, so chances are if you’re going out to party it up, you’ll probably be donning a costume. But for those of you who are costume-phobic, here’s another style guide for lookin’ cute when you’re out and about.

Purple is the color to wear this season, so rockin’ out a cute purple top is key. The beauty of purple is that you can find an appropriate hue for any skin tone. This shirt is only $13.80 and the cut and gathering in the middle is a great way to camouflage any unwanted tummy, while also putting emphasis on your lovely cleavage.

Throw that shirt over a pair of skinny jeans and knee high boots; a common look for fall/winter, but it’s always hot.

I am IN LOVE with these blue knee high hotties; they’re only $25.99 and they add a great contrast to the purple top. If you wanna go with a more basic look, you can always just go for a simple black pair, like these, which are on sale for $30.

With the v-neck of the shirt, you want to go for a simple pendant, like this adorable one from Forever 21. Add a pair of drop earrings and you’re golden (or silver).

Don’t forget to put on a jacket (and if it’s really chilly, a cute scarf), or else you’ll be freezing your booty off and, face it, we don’t look too cute when we’re shivering out of control.

• Martini Glasses ($19.99) – I’m not saying you drove your mom to drinking, but just in case you did…here’s a way to thank her for not giving you away during those teenage years.

• Totally Awesome Slippers ($39.99) – These ain’t no namby-pamby slippers, these are real sheepskin and leather. Her feet deserve a rest after all those years spent running after you.
