Michelle Williams has had a pretty great year. Between receiving oral from Ryan Gosling and being chosen to play Marilyn Monroe in a critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated film, I’d say she’s probably one of the luckiest ladies in Hollywood. I’ve been a huge fan of hers since she was the tortured girl next door (not named Joey Potter) on Dawson’s Creek, and I love that she is getting so much recognition for her talent and beauty.

I’ll be honest – at first glance, I didn’t really care for this outfit. Something about it seemed sloppy and less-than-appealing. Yet certain elements compelled me to give it a second look, and I saw so much potential. I really love the idea, and I knew it could be improved upon (I know, my humility is astounding). Polka dot dresses are delightfully retro and classic, and I love the structure and silhouette of the one I found at Delia’s. I feel like I usually only see black and white polka dots combined with black, white or red, so I really appreciated Michelle’s choice of gray. It’s understated while still being an interesting contrast. Gray booties and shiny black tights complete the look, adding a quirky finish to this ensemble. I really like that you can easily dress this further down for class or dress it up for a date or work; Versatility is always a plus.

Jessica Alba has totally become one of my fashion muses. Her love of bright colors, flattering silhouettes and awesome versatile pieces has cemented her place as one of my fave celeb fashionistas. I’m particularly obsessed with one of her recent ensembles because of its vibrancy and interesting color scheme.

Blue and orange definitely isn’t my color combination of choice, but I’m really loving how Jessica rocked it here. This light blue blazer complements blood orange nicely, creating a surprisingly feminine, eye-catching look. Combined with a sexy black pencil skirt and black peep toes, this magically becomes a potentially awesome outfit suitable for work, if your office isn’t uber-conservative. This could just as easily be the perfect look for brunch or a coffee date, too. Moreover, all of these pieces are super flexible, and you could manipulate any element to fit your own personal style. Could you ask for any more from one outfit? I don’t think so.

Penelope Cruz has been flying under the radar lately, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a photo of her this week looking just as stunning as ever. I’ve always liked Penelope. She seems really grounded and down-to-earth (even when she was dating Tom Cruise, which, as we all know, is enough to catapult anyone into questionable mental territory…). In addition to her seemingly chill personality, she possesses a classic, chic style that is visually intriguing while still being low-key.

Pink and green is a polarizing color combination, and I happen to land in favor of it. I think it’s fun and feminine. I’m particularly obsessed with this pink blazer, because it is so versatile and could be paired with nearly anything. The rest of the look is suitably neutral – flattering boot cut jeans, and beige accessories. I’m especially in love these beige ballet flats, as they have enough texture to not be hideously dull, but are still incredibly versatile. I think this is a great casual look that is made up of a ton of flexible pieces.

Zoe Saldana is so fierce. I love that she’s kind of taken over Angelina Jolie’s role as the default female badass action star, while still embracing her femininity. Not only that, she seems refreshingly blunt and sincere in interviews. She has a great sense of style as well – she can be daring and sexy on the red carpet, and really relaxed, but still visually striking on the streets.

I am completely obsessed with these bright blue pants. They’re the perfect way to add a huge burst of flair, and can be paired with nearly anything you’d wear with more muted denim, depending on the aesthetic you want to go for. Zoe chose to make the rest of the outfit more neutral, which I think is a great idea. A gray cardigan and white top are laidback and a little boho-chic, and the black shoulder bag is a perfectly functional and coordinated accessory. Instead of espadrilles, however, since it is…you know…January, I chose a pair of neutral brown booties that are just as understated as her wedges. I can’t get enough of the statement pants trend. They’re a great way to add another dimension to your wardrobe without going too over the top.

Jasmine is a graduate of Northern Arizona University who moved across the country to Washington DC for the politics and stayed for the cupcakes. She likes working on her fitness, collecting nail polish, devouring current events, being the only person who still watches Gossip Girl, and relentlessly tweeting @chickbreakaway.

I love how accessible Whitney Port’s style is. It’s not super glamorous or haute couture, but it’s still vibrant, fresh and functional. Functional is a major priority for me these days since the weather is doing its best Antarctica impression. However, winter is no excuse to slack off on the fashion front, and I’m loving this cozy look from Whitney.

Layers are absolutely crucial. A lace tank adds a delightfully feminine touch, while a black and white cardigan adds a burst of flavor and some warmth. Topped with a leather jacket, this look becomes edgy and fierce (and the faux-fur lining is super cute). Combined with some simple black skinny jeans and black fur-lined boots, this outfit turns out to be sleek and well put-together.

I absolutely adore Charlize Theron. She’s accomplished, beautiful, an activist and she seems incredibly humble and down to earth. After a bit of a hiatus, she is now back in the public eye promoting her movie Young Adult, which means we are treated to far too many photos of her looking way too pretty all over the place.

This look is pretty dynamic. The navy blouse is conservative . I chose one with a tie-neck as a nod to current trends. Paired with a white pencil skirt, this outfit becomes formal and perfectly office appropriate. Then, a black leather jacket, a relatively large clutch and some sexy snakeskin pumps totally transition this into a date night or girls’ night out outfit (you could rock some navy tights if bare legs aren’t practical). I also love that this dress is full of great separates, so even if this look isn’t your cup of tea, you could easily isolate any of these elements and incorporate it into your own aesthetic.

I am almost literally drooling over this lace dress. The fact that lace is trendy is beyond exciting. I love how sexy this dress is, while still being modest and appropriate for many occasions. Gray tights and a pair of black pumps add a muted base to this ensemble, while a black blazer and clutch continue the neutral theme, while the belt accentuates Kate’s waist and adds a bit of flair. This look is perfect for a formal night out, but you could just as easily rock this to class if finals haven’t totally broken your spirit yet.

Emma Stone continues to dazzle at events. She always looks stunning in elegant, sleek, interesting pieces. She doesn’t seem to be one for trends, but she always looks fresh, incorporating vibrant colors, varying textures, and always oozes confidence.

This is a pretty conservative look for a red carpet, but the beauty lies in how great each individual piece is. I love the blouse she’s wearing, but that’s not exactly universally flattering (ie: only she and three other women could pull off a satin blouse with a zipper without looking dumpy) but I think a ruffly blouse still captures the element. It’s feminine, and has a sleeker silhouette. I am completely obsessed with this gold pencil skirt. I’m not really a pencil skirt kind of girl, but I die over ones that come in colors other than boring black or navy. This gold one is festive and sexy, while still being modest. Pointy-toed shoes elongate your legs and are sexy and add a cool silhouette. A silver clutch complements the metallic nature of the gold skirt, and I love that it is structured and makes a subtle statement. This outfit would be great for both a refined night out and a professional night out.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Lauren Conrad in an outfit I’ve hated. Considering she’s been on my radar since the first episode of Laguna Beach aired many, many, many moons ago, that’s no small feat. She has mastered the art of understated chic, whether she’s strolling through LA or strutting down a red carpet.

I’m totally loving the chunky striped sweater. It’s bold, but since the colors are so neutral, it’s very versatile. Pairing it with skinny jeans veers the outfit towards a more casual, relaxed aesthetic. Lauren chose a brown bag to accessorize with, which I think is great. Brown is kind of an underrated color, especially since many people are afraid to pair it with black, but a rich brown complements almost any color. Leopard print shoes finish off the ensemble and add some unexpected contrast. This is a perfect autumn day look.

The Olsen family finally let the other sister out of the attic recently (maybe she just had a really long awkward phase?).  Elizabeth has been appearing on red carpets recently, as she is following her older sisters’ footsteps and venturing into smaller independent movies (though she is filming a movie with Dakota Fanning that’s supposed to hit theaters next year). She definitely has picked up some of the boho chic style MK&A are known for, but I’ve yet to see her look homeless, so she definitely knows her boundaries. She recently appeared out and about looking pretty and polished.

I love that it’s leather jacket season again. They are sexy and very versatile. There are very few items that wouldn’t work with a leather jacket, as you can use it to complement an edgy outfit or add a contrasting flair to more feminine, soft aesthetic. A dark blue blouse paired with a lighter blue printed skirt is a low-key motif. Blue is one of the few colors that you can combine varying shades and it will still look well coordinated. Grey shoes break up the blue and black monotony while still being neutral. A chunky silver necklace is a cute touch, but you could easily add some vibrancy to this outfit with some accessories that have more color. This is a lovely casual day look that would easily be appropriate for class.
