Celebs Being Boring

Celebs get photographed no matter what they’re doing, be it anything from getting married to brushing their teeth. And even though we see ourselves brush our own teeth everyday (hopefully…), we’d rather look at pictures of our fave stars doing the same. Bradley Cooper, I will watch you brush your teeth all day long. Better yet, I’ll do it for you.

Here are a few pictures of celebs caught being boring, but you know you want to look anyway.

Serious Celeb Spills

Yes, celebrities are real people. And although we don’t have much evidence to support this, we do have some. Including shots of stars without makeup and stars with weird body parts. But now, we have even MORE evidence that they’re just like us! We’ve rounded up celebs…falling…and tripping…and stumbling. Just like you do. It seems, even a pair of Louboutins can’t ensure perfect balance.

Behind the Scenes with Celebs’ Nannies

So we think celebrities can do it all — spearhead successful careers, look fabulous 24/7, spend loads of cash, cruise on Valentino’s yacht, attend P.Diddy’s white party, get Botox, meet with their trainers…and take care of their kids. It seems like we’re constantly ooh-ing and ahh-ing over those cute celebri-kids hanging out with their famous ‘rents.

But then we notice the giant designer purses, skinny jeans and 4 inch heels some of these moms are wearing. Or the general look of disinterest on these dads’ faces. Are these people really looking after their kids, or are they just in it for the family photo op? There never seem to be “help” around, aside from the stray body guard, but with a little digging look what we found — celebs have hidden nannies. And you’d be surprised to learn who sought out the extra set of hands… Read More »

Just Some Celebs Looking Homeless

Sometimes it seems like the more money they have, the more homeless celebs think they should look. Like, I know you have tons of beautiful clothes in an effing huge closet in your fabulous house. If you’re not going to wear them, at least give them to me.

Let’s be real, even when these celebs look like complete sh*t, they’re probably wearing more money than I spent on my entire summer wardrobe. But, they still look homeless. Here’s a few of our fav celebs in Zoolander-style Derelicte-chic.

9 Celebrities who Share WAY Too Much

Celebrities will do practically anything to keep their names in the news these days. If their album flops or their movie doesn’t do so well at the box office, they turn to the world of expose’ memoir books, VH1 reality shows, trashy clothing lines, and tweeting multiple times per hour. Some of them even go as far as to reveal some disgusting, shock-worthy story about themselves just to gain a page in the tabloids this week (yes, I’m talking to you, Florence Henderson). Even though they seem to try a little too hard to stay relevant, I’ll be the first to admit that I can’t get enough of these people.

Do you think celebrities share too much about their personal lives, or maybe you think they don’t share quite enough? Who’s your favorite celeb to stalk via Twitter?

10 Celebs and The Secrets Behind Their Scents

Attention, ladies. I’ve got big news.

Reese Witherspoon is launching her own fragrance.

Okay. So I guess the news wasn’t really that big of a deal after all. I mean, what celebrity doesn’t have a fragrance these days? No, really, what celebrity doesn’t? Reese Witherspoon is actually the 465th celebrity to ever do this. That’s a lot of celebrities and definitely a lot of scents, which has gotten me thinking: How exactly do they create these scents? What are the ingredients? They must be relevant to the celebs themselves, right? You know, to set them apart. Well, if that’s the case I’ve got a few ideas on what must be in each of them.

What would be in your signature scent?

Duke It Out: Fandom

[It's pretty obvious that the average CollegeCandy reader has some very strong opinions. Opinions that she likes to share with everyone on the site. We love a strong woman (unless she happens to be charging at us with her fists raised), so we thought we'd give her a real forum to discuss her thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. Every Friday I'll be featuring a hot topic (like the Facebook overshare!) and leaving it up to you, the readers, to duke it out. So, read it and get your debate on in the comments section below!]

Once upon a time, I had a friend – no, seriously, it was a friend. Not me. At all. – who had a major crush on a certain member of ‘N Sync; like a, have all his posters, listen to nothing but his music, own the look-alike action figure set, crush. It was a little weird, but eventually she grew out of it and hey, we all go through our phases, right? Except, I wonder if it would have been different for her nowadays. Between the fact that California just had to pass a bill just to crack down on paparazzi and the crazy Biebs fans threatening to kill a girl who posted a YouTube video of herself tearing down the J-man’s posters, I’ve gotta wonder if we’ve taken this fandom thing too far.

On one side, I totally get being a mega-fan. I’m a true geek through and through and I keep up with all the rumors and gossip about my faves just as much as anybody. A part of being a celeb today and putting yourself into the public spotlight is knowing that you’re giving up the right to anonymously go to the grocery store in sweats and no makeup, so I don’t really buy it when famous people bitch about not having any privacy. They knew (or should have known) what they were getting into. And as a fan, if you want to dedicate your free time to making underwear with Robert Pattinson’s face on it, or creating an archive of every photo ever taken of Ryan Reynolds (no, just me?) then more power to you. Duke It Out: Celeb Obsessed?

[It's pretty obvious that the average CollegeCandy reader has some very strong opinions. Opinions that she likes to share with everyone on the site. Every Friday I'll be featuring a hot topic (like whether Miley's a bad influence!) and leaving it up to you, the readers, to duke it out. A while back we had some qualms about the big Rihanna interview and it’s timing. Wherever you came down on that argument, it got me to thinking: is it really any of our business? Celeb watching has existed for basically as long as celebrities have, but in the info-age things have been cranked up to 11 (197,000,000 hits on the search “celebrity gossip”!).

Have we gone too far?

On one side, celebs put themselves out there to be seen. You don’t become a movie or pop star today without knowing that paparazzi will be following you around. And not only do they need that kind of rabid attention to draw people to their work, but a lot of them use it to their advantage. I’m sure it’s annoying not to have any privacy, but it’s kinda hypocritical to complain about how no one will leave you alone in the magazine article promoting your new TV show. Being a celeb now is a package deal, and everybody who’s trying to break into it knows that – maybe it’s time to just suck it up and deal. Or totally embrace it.

But still, celebs are just people like the rest of us, with private lives – the fact that more people see the work they do doesn’t mean we should have the right to see the minute details of their lives. Is it really our business that Tiger Woods is cheating on his wife? That Adam Lambert and his BF broke up? Does that information affect who they are in their professional lives? Read More »

Do It Yourself Tuesdays: Ettika Neon Bracelets

bracelets copyWorn correctly, accessories can take an ordinary, plain outfit and transform it into an extraordinary one. Personally, I’m in amore with accessories, especially jewelry.

This season, the fashion world is all about neon and bright colors. Yes, even during the winter. Bright tights under dark skirts, bright purses to add a splash of color to any outfit… I like to think designers like Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg and Christian Siriano are doing their part to put an end to seasonal depression. And I applaud that.

Especially when it’s happening with fun and cheery bracelets that will brighten any dark and dreary winter day.  Like Ettika’s braided neon bracelets that celebrities love. They are so simple, adorable and fun. And I want a million of them.

Problem is, they’re expensive for being a simple (yet fabulous!) piece of jewelry. $24 for one bracelet? I don’t think so!

Good thing they’re incredibly easy to DIY on the C-H-E-A-P. Add a little neon-cheer to your winter and make these bracelet on your own.

What You’ll Need:

1. Neon Satin Cord: You can pick this up at most fabric/trimming/art stores. You can even get it at the Container Store. You’ll need about 1.5-2 feet each of 3 different neon colors of satin/silk thread. This will be enough for one bracelet (with a little extra depending on wrist size). If you want to save some money and get the most for your buck, buy a yard of each color so you can make way more bracelets!

P.S. If you live in NYC, you’re in luck because the Fashion District has about a million fabric/trimming stores. Try M&J Trimming (they are the bestest).

2. Superglue: Since the satin or silk thread is very slick, the superglue will help keep the ends of the thread in the clasps. Use the type with a brush – it makes the application easier (and prevents it from getting on your hands/getting your fingers stuck together). Also, whenever using superglue on your bracelet, only use a little! Read More »
