First we did plaid – now we’re going gaga for gingham. I feel like I should be back in an episode of Saved by the Bell when all of these 90′s styles were splashed across the pages of magazines and donned by our favorite celebs.
“For REALZ?” I thought when I saw this print again, running down to the basement to pull out my platform gym shoes, pogs and devil sticks.
But then I looked again. And I started to get used to it.
And I looked again. And I sorta fell in love.
Sure, the print is a little early 90′s, but the updated version is tailored and flattering, which is still light years better than that maternity crap we were stuck wearing for 2 years.

What is it about that gets us off? There are websites 100% dedicated to it!
Does it make them seem more attractive when they’re photographed scarfing down hot dogs and slurping milk shakes? Not really.
Relatable? Likable? Personable? Nah.
Just because Jessica Biel eats a sandwich doesn’t mean I’m her new biggest fan and want her to come over and do my nails.
It’s probably because there’s something vulnerable about being caught in the act of eating. Most of the time, I feel kind of sorry for them, their mouths stretched all ugly and their and faces askew.
Just like watching celebrities fall down and/or trip, there’s simply something human about seeing a Cover Girls and Guys stuffing their perfect, rich faces.

Being in a sorority, I’m always looking to make the world a better place, (and not just for underage drinkers everywhere.)
I’ll admit it’s not entirely selfless. The more philanthropy you do, the better your stance in the “Greek life” community, and the better that is, the better house your sorority or fraternity gets for the following year. But seeing as we’re so small we’re going to get stuck with the same small suite we always get no matter what we do — we tend to actually do charity for charity’s sake.
But you don’t have to be “Greek” to give back to your community, (though it’s my obligation as a sorority girl to urge you to rush in the fall *fake smile*.) In fact, all you have to do is shop!
Yup, charity is right around every corner we turn nowadays from Product Red to the One campaign. Companies everywhere are coming up with clever ways to literally sell good works.
At first, being the jaded girl I am, thought that buying these products did little actual good for the people they claim to help, and that celebs and businesses were just acting like grown up sorors and frats, spending the time to get the good PR.
But with how rapidly “shopping for a cause” and “helping others never goes out of style” became in style, I recognized that regardless of the reasons, these people are getting the word out there and raising awareness. Read More »
