When you see a perfectly sculpted star on the cover of a magazine, don’t let yourself be fooled. They may look like they pray to the treadmill gods each day, but they are also just as human as we are. These ladies have curves, dimples, scars, warts and all the other things we pick at ourselves for. But thanks to the magic of Photoshop, their flaws can be hidden with the click and drag of a mouse.

Every so often, a brave celeb comes forward and acknowledges her body for the beautiful reality that it is. Recently, photos from a Complex magazine shoot with the bootylicious Kim Kardashian were accidently leaked onto the magazine’s website. In this assortment of pics were a couple shots of KK, pre-Photoshop, in all her luscious glory. A side-by-side comparison reveals the extent of her photo’s retouching:

-Her arm was thinned
-Her waist was whittled
-Her skin tone had been lightened
-Her thighs were slimmed and smoothed
-Her bust had been decreased and lifted
-Even her top and belt were shortened and shrunk

The mag realized its blooper and promptly removed the un-retouched photos, but not before Kim posted them on her own website to prove she is not ashamed:“So what: I have a little cellulite. What curvy girl doesn’t!? How many people do you think are photoshopped? It happens all the time!”

Kim stood up for herself on her site, proving that not all women feel they should apologize for the way their bodies look naturally. And you know what? Kimmy looks amazing in the un-retouched shot! That waist, that complexion, that badunk! I applaud our girl for demonstrating what it means to be a real woman of confidence. Photoshop may smooth out a wrinkle or two, but no computer program can give you the glow that comes from loving yourself as you are.

“I’m proud of my body and my curves and this picture coming out is probably helpful for everyone to see that just because I am on the cover of a magazine doesn’t mean I’m perfect.”

Creepy Adult Excitement Over High School Musical 3.

All the reviews are positive. Everyone’s raving over it. And grown ass women are holding in depth discussions about Zac Efron’s facial hair (or lack thereof). I understand that the kids who fell in love with HSM 3 years ago have gotten older and that the movie is “growing up” to cater to them, but that’s the point: Disney made it for seniors in high school—not the hosts of the Daily 10, not for my mom (who has already purchased tickets in advance) and not for me (although I do love me some Corbin Bleu).

The bottom line is that this movie is about high school, so high schooler’s should be the ones counting the days until its release. When Disney can find a way to wholesomely portray coed life while incorporating schnazzy dance numbers with synchronized keg stands, I’ll be the first one at the box office.

Yet Another Reason to Hate Flying.

As if there weren’t enough things to worry about when hurtling through the air in a giant chunk of metal with no easy access to (or knowledge of how to operate) a parachute, I now need to prepare for incidents that could occur pre-takeoff. In Chicago, a plane collided with a pickup truck on the runway. I think it’s safe to say that the truck driver is slightly more responsible in this situation. I mean, A) how did you miss the enormous freaking AIRPLANE blocking your path, and b) WHY were you in a pickup truck on the tarmac? This just makes no sense to me, but as bad as a backseat driver (and passenger) as I was before, you better believe I’ll be second guessing a smooth takeoff the next time I board a plane.

The economy f*cking every. single. industry.

So far I’ve come through this recession/crisis/Armageddon unscathed. Luckily, I really haven’t been hurting in any obvious ways (not that I had much money to lose, or many expenses that would take a toll on my poor college lifestyle). But I finally am starting to worry: TV has been affected. I mean, the industry is pretty resilient; they even survived running shows without anyone to write them, but the news has been announced that NBC is trimming the fat--$5 million worth of fat. Jeff Zucker, CEO, is looking for ways to cut staff and other expenses. All I know is that I need me some quality NBC sitcom to lift me out of my monetary funk…and if anything happens to The Office all hell will break loose.

John Mccain’s Apparent State of Delusion.

So, despite the fact that Obama is OWNING Mccain in the race for the white house thus far, Johnnie still thinks that “things are headed [his] way.” Really? What things might you be speaking of? A landslide loss in an historical election? A sad realization that you were simply a filler candidate for the Republican party? A HUGE increase in your taxes once your opponent is elected? Because, yeah, I can see those things headed in your direction. Maybe that SNL skit revolving around your imaginary BFF, Joe the Plumber, is spot on regarding your mental stability…

Haters.

No one likes a hata. Especially when said hata is hatin’ on someone for a ridic reason….which is most of the time. Specifically this week, though, those hatin’ on women for their body type or size is particularly whack. When the tabs aren’t blowing up bikini pics of pregnant women to circle their cellulite, they’re hurling accusations of eating disorders at stars they deem too thin. Seriously? It’s kind of common decency not to criticize real women who are “too fat,” but at what point did it become okay to label anyone under 115 lbs as anorexic? Celebs are living, breathing human beings. Yes, it is part of their job to stay in good shape (and they get paid enough to afford those pricey trainers and nutritionists), but it’s social responsibility to discontinue the degrading and emotionally scarring descriptions that are printed about famous women. Set a positive example for the way that real women are portrayed and talked about.

Whew! Venting makes me feel much better. Now it’s your turn… 

It’s no secret that here at CC, we love Entourage. HBO and Showtime never cease to entertain with shows like Dexter, Weeds, and True Blood, but for some reason, Entourage has always held a special place in our hearts (and no, it’s not just because of this).

Besides the witty and quippy writing, Entourage is almost always hilarious, last night’s episode being no exception (everyone trips on shrooms in the desert and Ari desperately calls Lloyd to get him through his ordeal). The characters are strange yet likeable, and the Hollywood “scene” has never been drawn quite so wackily. So yeah, we love the show. Love it enough to stay up late on a Sunday night or TiVo it to watch immediately after work.

But here’s the thing: there’s pretty much no way to feel good about your body once the credits roll. A show created, produced, directed, and mostly written by men, Entourage is bursting at the seams with “hot” women. I’ve been watching for 5 seasons, and I honestly can’t remember a time when a female character was anything less than absolute runway material.

Everyone has big boobs. Everyone is thin and tall enough to dunk a b. ball like Michael Jordan. It’s like the casting director opened up a Victoria’s Secret catalogue, pointed to every single girl in there, and made sure she got a spot on the show. Like the producers walked around Vegas with Pied Piper flutes and somehow made the entire population of showgirls, strippers, and car models follow them to LA (perhaps they offered them cookies that would eradicate cellulite?).

This got me thinking; Entourage is great and all, but most likely, it’s written with dudes in mind. Most of the guys in Vinny’s group are less than perfect (E’s four feet tall, Turtle looks like one, Drama isn’t hot in the least, and Ari is on the old side), and yet, they get all the vajayjay they could ever hope for from beautiful chicks who disappear from the plot as soon as they’ve served their purpose.

I’m not trying to be a killjoy; it’s obvious that we love hot strippers and girls with big boobs, but WTF?! There’s more women in the US than there are men — shouldn’t we be granted the right to A) see girls who represent more than just the small model percentage, and B) at least a few guys who are super smokin’?!

We wouldn’t dream of getting pissed off at our favorite show (it’s like getting mad at that adorable frat boy for falling asleep on your shoulder after shotgunning 9 beers), but it seems pretty obvious to us that Entourage could certainly improve it’s female following if they took into consideration just how sensitive some of us are to how we’re represented on screen.

The reason this is noteworthy? Because women have a tendency to blame the chick their significant other had an affair with, rather than the significant other themselves. How many of you (and I’m sorry, by the way, if you understand what I’m talking about) have felt the burn of a cheater, only to turn around and have homicidal thoughts about the person the love of your life cheated on you with? I’ll cut that bitch, you think, while tearfully trying to figure out how to convince your cheating bf or spouse back into your life.

I’m sure there’s lot of scientific evidence as to why women usually hate on the O.W (Other Woman) more than their partner, but in my opinion, it all filters down to female competitiveness and self-loathing masked by rage. Like the gossip mags (mostly read by women) that spend pages ragging on celebrity cellulite and sagging stomaches, most of us find it easier to go after a target we don’t know, rather than A) a person we do know, or B) ourselves.

So, disregarding whatever mud she slings later on, I have to applaud Brinkley for placing blame where the blame is really meant to placed — her husband (and father of her three children) — rather than on the idiot girl who had nothing to lose by having sex with him. Was the 21-year-old O.W being selfish when she began an affair with a married man? Of course. But what matters most is that she was pursued by someone twenty years her senior, who not only knew better, but had other people in his life he was responsible for.

Coldplay “Viva La Vida.” I love this song to death. I love the purple-y hazy commercial for iTunes. I love how it makes me feel super happy…so imagine my surprise to hear that they are being accused by the Creaky Boards, a little know US band, for ripping the song off of them. Marla Maples. I’ll give it to you – you are 44, survived being Mrs. Donald Trump #2 and that crappy pre-nup and you’re smokin’ hot but please stop it with the beach cartwheels. Just get a new agent and maybe he’ll find you some work.

Not only is this racy recording super hot to watch with a glass of wine and a set of lacy lingerie (oh, and your co-star), but it is also a great teaching aid to improve the happenings between your sheets. Or on the table/back of a cab/in a public bathroom, if that’s more your thing.

Even more fun than watching the video is making it. Simply setting up the tri-pod at the foot of the bed ups the bedroom-hot-factor to Wasabi standards. And bringing the camera into bed for a couple of shots allows you, director/star, to create some extremely artistic shots.

Throw in some costumes and a teacher/student scenario and you have yourself a full blown night to remember, which, coincidentally, is made even easier by the fact that you have a souvenir to take home with you. (Note: Mac users have a leg up [saucy!] on the rest of us thanks to iMovie. It is so easy to use and adds a sense of professionalism to a genre that classically offers a more “Indie” feel.)

But homemade videos aren’t always pleasure and prrrrrrr. The biggest problem with a sex tape is the tape itself. Sure, producing a home video seems like a good idea at the time; “It will be fun,” you tell yourself. “We trust each other.” Oh, and you’ve always wondered what your hind quarters looked like when you were on top.

All of that changes, however, when you find your supporting actor hooking up with some freshman ho at your best friend’s house party and find out he has been previewing said video to his entire freaking fraternity.

Or so I’ve heard….

When it comes down to it, making a video is something extremely personal, so the decision to make it must be as well. In order to enjoy the video – and any possible premieres that may come with it – I recommend checking (and standing before a mirror to check again) just how comfortable you are: with the other person; with the idea of an actual recorded video being in existence; with your skills as an actor; with the amount of cellulite on your thighs and that face you make when…well, you know.

Because it’s all ooooh’s and Oh God’s until that tape hits YouTube.
