I have such a girl crush on Blake Lively and her sense of fashion it’s borderline unhealthy. She possesses an incredibly eclectic style that is grounded in a love of all colors, combining different textures, and emphasizing her 10 feet long stems and fabulous cleavage. I personally applaud the fact that she even wears clothes, because if I had her body, I would probably never not be naked. I’m just saying.

Anyway, so New Year’s Eve is over. The hangover has finally passed. You’ve been tagged in 100 photos, but only half of them are still associated with your name (there was no reason for the almost nip-slip or the midnight kiss with the random to be documented, right?). As you click through all the party photos, maybe you’re still in awe of the outfit you’ve put together, and how well it photographs. Maybe you’re wishing you could always be so sparkly. This week, I’d like to offer a resolution that would actually be fun to keep – incorporate more sequins into your wardrobe. Granted, my love of sequins is probably a little bit excessive, but seriously, why should sequins be reserved for New Year’s Eve and that one other random cocktail party you go to each year?

I am pretty infatuated with looks that have elements of menswear. I find them beyond sexy. So I’m totally loving the oversized button down. (Note: Although I’m not 100% sold on it peeking out the bottom of the mini-skirt….) Keeping the top 3 or 4 buttons open definitely shifts it away from masculine and more into “damn-she’s-a-sexy-bitch” territory. Add a simple nude belt around your waist to create a more feminine silhouette and pair it with a sassy black sequined skirt to add an uber-glam touch. These studded stiletto ankle boots add a touch of edginess that completely ties the look together. If you need some extra warmth, you can throw on your favorite black blazer/leather jacket, and get ready to turn some necks with this amazing outfit.

Jessica Alba has been taking a break from the big screen lately, choosing to focus on raising her daughter and tweet about feeling fly like a G6. Yet, she is still a solid fixture in all the tabloids, because for some reason, everyone is still obsessed with the fact that celebrities procreate (and look fabulous while doing so).

Jessica is definitely one of the most stylish mommies running around Hollywood. She has a fresh, hip, not excessively trendy style and she loves to include unexpected accessories or pieces with eye-catching detailing. Weird, because I also like to be fresh, hip and not excessively trendy with a touch of the unexpected. Thankfully, I don’t have to have Jessica’s movie star salary to achieve my style dreams.

I completely adore this outfit for so many reasons. First of all, this amazing skirt. Maybe I’ve been watching too much Gossip Girl, but I am a firm supporter in miniskirts year round, and I am absolutely in love with the silver studding of this one from Forever 21, which has a similar biker-inspired aesthetic to Jessica’s bangin’ skirt. I have already expressed my undying love for animal print, so you know I’m swooning over the cheetah print scarf, which livens up the plain white top.

I chose a boyfriend blazer (the best/most versatile thing in my wardrobe) to throw on top, but a heavy pea coat would look just as cute. Those sheer tights are perfect for you lucky ladies who don’t have to walk around with a scorching hot caramel macchiato at all times to keep you warm. But for my fellow shivering chickadees, throw on some uber thick tights and you’re good to go. Finally, these uber cute black tuxedo shoes finish off the look by adding a slightly boyish flair to an otherwise very feminine outfit.

Jessica Alba’s look is effortlessly sexy and edgy, and with enough sass, totally appropriate for a variety of occasions, from a Saturday shopping sesh to a night at the bar. Here’s hoping I can look this hot after popping a kid out…

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. If her incredibly gorgeous-yet-pretentious name doesn’t sound familiar to you yet, it will be by next summer. She is taking over Megan Fox’s role as the “scantily-clad hot girl who shrieks and makes out with Shia LaBeouf” in the next Transformers movie (yes, ANOTHER one).

She also works as a Victoria’s Secret angel and as the current face of Burberry. So she’s basically the latest in a line of pretty girls who get paid to be pretty. I can’t help but like her for that reason alone.

No, that’s a total lie. I also like her because her personal style is so elegant, classic, trendy, and fabulous.

I’m going to start by defending an outfit that includes a (faux, obvs) fur vest. It is a total statement piece that elevates this outfit to exciting, dramatic, flamboyant heights. We at CollegeCandy have lauded and totally dissed the fur vest, but I have to land on the side of “fur is f-ing awesome.” However, this outfit would still look amazing without it, so feel free to roll your eyes at my enthusiasm for Cruella DeVille-like accessories.

Moving on, I’m still obsessed with leather jackets, and I love this cropped one with zipper accents. Rosie chose a plain black top to wear underneath, but (especially if fur vests are not your thing), a bright colorful top would add a great burst of color to this very muted outfit. I’m loving the gray skinny pants, a slightly dressier alternative to your fave skinny jeans. Finish off the look with these tall, slouchy wedge boots that are so Serena van der Woodsen-y (laidback, casual, but still polished).

A form-fitted ensemble like Rosie’s is perfect for when you’re tired of covering your super fit self in 98 layers, but you still need to stay warm, and still look absolutely stunning.

Six years later, Lindsay is…Lindsay, while Hilary still has clothing lines, a book deal, a stable relationship (who put a ring on it), and no one would ever think of including her in their celebrity death pool. Not only has she transitioned from Disney teen queen to grown woman without taking a trainwreck detour, she has done so while cultivating a simple yet chic personal style that reflects her seemingly low-maintenance, easygoing, approach to life.

Team Hilary for the win.

This outfit is fabulous because it’s flattering and fitted, without being constricting or floozy-ish. I adore the contrast of the flowy shirt/fitted pants and the to-die-for red heels (though of course, an embroidered flat would look just as great). And who knew how much cooler skinny jeans looked with an easy roll at the bottom? (Note: these Rock Star skinny jeans from Old Navy are the best. pants. ever.)

This outfit would be perfect for class, coffee dates, shopping outings, happy hours… it’s so versatile and easily customizable. You could even swap out the tank for a long sleeve top or a boyfriend cardigan and wear this look through the fall. And – bonus! – the quilted bag can be worn over your shoulder or across your body to add even more versatility to the look.

Quite honestly, I don’t really know who Ashley Greene is. I know she’s in Twilight, but seeing as how there are much hotter vampires out there, I’ve never seen the movies. I know she once sent naked photos to someone….and got caught. Aaaand, that’s about it.

However, this girl keeps popping up on red carpets, award shows and some of my favorite gossip sites, and she’s really pretty in that “I-just-became-semi-relevant-so-I-still-have-to-pay-for-my-clothes-and-I-still-shop-at-the-mall-but-at-least-I’ve-upgraded-to-Nordstrom” way. You know?

My point? Who she is doesn’t really matter to me as much as what she’s been wearing. And what she’s been wearing is totally slammin’. Ashley’s style is sometimes chic, sometimes fun, sometimes laid back and edgy, yet so easy to re-imagine and re-create on a college girl’s budget.

I don’t know you, Ashley, but I think I love you.

Shirt, Jeans, Shoes, Bracelets.

Ashley’s outfit is cute; I love bubble sleeves/exaggerated shoulders paired with a slimmer bottom. The detailing on the shirt stands out on its own so the outfit doesn’t need much else (especially when one of Hollywood’s hottest new stars is sporting it). But, for those of us who like a little extra bling to our looks, I went ahead and iced this outfit out.

When you’ve got sleeve/neck/shoulder detailing on a shirt, you definitely don’t want to add any more anything to your neckline. So with a shirt like this one from Forever 21, a chunky stack of bracelets or bangles is definitely the way to go. It’s just the perfect amount of sparkle to take a somewhat standard outfit to the next level. (And if you’re up for it, you could go for a rocker chic leather cuff instead to add a little edge to this sweet ensemble.)

Leighton Meester is my favorite person ever to exist. I know, that’s a totally insane bold statement considering her contribution to society is a few catchy tunes and an embarrassingly addictive teen drama, but seeing as how she is the woman who brought the fierce, fashionable, crazy-bitch-in-charge Blair Waldorf to life, I think she deserves over-the-top accolades.

I admit, Leighton’s personal style may not be Upper East Side/recessionista unfriendly as Blair’s, but she has an unassuming, down-to-earth, accessible sophistication that I admire.

Dress, Wedges, Purse, Sunglasses

This dress is totally another reason to wear white after Labor Day. The texturing makes it interesting – you don’t even have to do a ton of accessorizing to elevate it to super stylish. The espadrilles are totally casual, but are not nearly as blasphemous and slobby as flip flops. You can easily transition this dress into fall/winter by adding tights and swapping the wedges for boots. Throw on a blazer and this breezy look becomes sleek and (slightly less importantly) weather appropriate.

I don’t care for Katy Perry that much. I only like every other single that she releases, I think her taste in men is beyond questionable, and I thought it was highly ridiculous to claim that as a Christian, she was highly offended by Lady Gaga.

Yet, I cannot deny that I am completely fascinated by her style. She’s fearless, experimental, and not afraid to switch things up. She’s the only (non-Gaga) woman I can think of who is as comfortable wearing a bra made of cupcakes as she is dressed down and looking like Zooey Deschanel’s doppelganger. And I love that.

You know what else I love? This stunning polka dot number Katy recently sported on a stroll through London town. Gimme, gimme, gimme.

Dress, Brooch, Heels, Belt

I adore this look because I am completely infatuated with nearly any ensemble that could be construed as “vintage,” and a polka dot dress totally falls into that category. Dresses are my favorite item of clothing – they make you look polished and style-conscious, even if you just rolled out of bed 5 minutes and a Gatorade swish ago. A belt breaks up the pattern a bit and accentuates your waist. I absolutely love, love, LOVE the red brooch – it adds a bold flash of color and draws attention to the flirtatious-but-demure scoopneck of the dress. Heels add that extra bit of ferocity, but flats are just as acceptable., and if you’re in one of those lucky places where early September actually equals cooler weather, throw on a black, red, or white cardigan and you’re good to go!

I know when I was 17, I spruced up my Kipling backpack by wearing a strand of Chanel Pearls… and by Chanel Pearls I obviously mean the totally real ones that I bought in China Town.

Don’t get me wrong; I do admire their fashion forwardness, but I totally resent that it’s not reality. However, this look on Ms. Blake Lively is totally attainable and totally cute.

Perhaps I should start watching?

Leather is huge this fall (along with purple, yellow, scarves, and everything else I’ve blogged about in this series) and it’s a great way to dress down a sexy black dress while also staying warm in all those super long bar lines.

So I bring you: Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: Gossip Girl’s ‘Too Legit to Quit’ Style.

The Black Dress: You can get a great dress from Forever 21, obvi. This dress is HOT and better than HOT – it’s CHEAP. INEXPENSIVE. MUY INEXPENSIVO. Yes, I am still single.

The Leather Jacket- While still pricey at $128.00, it’s still a bargain for a cute leather jacket. If you aren’t feeling this one Urban has tons of other cute options. And a leather jacket is a GREAT fall piece; wear it out with this ensemble, or throw it on with skinny jeans and flats, or even a cute hoodie and sweats to class (you know, instead of that awful North Face Fleece that neeeeeds to be retired. Please. I am begging you).

The Purse: Different than the one Blake has above, but more suitable for a night out at the bar, this Croc Patent purse is Hot (with a capital “H”). And the best thing about patent leather? Spills… or vomit (ew) wipe off easy breezy instead of leaving a messy stain.

The Shoe: These shoes will make this look a bit more transitional for fall rather than the wrap sandals shown above. I would go with the Pewter or the black; they both go with everything.

Multi Chain Necklace: This final touch paired with the booties and motorcycle jacket will make that ‘fit “Too Legit To Quit” (Hey heeeeey).

If I had to choose what I love most about this season’s fashions (and choosing one is no easy feat) it’s that purple is THE color to wear. From shoes to bags to dresses and jackets – shades of purple are popping up EVERYWHERE.

You can’t go wrong: neon, plum, eggplant. Deep shades of purple are h.o.t.

“But I will look more like a vegetable and less like a cute trendy person,” you say aloud as you hold up an amazing purple frock. To which I say: NOT SO! Add some black patent accessories, or a fun accent color and you are good to go!

Black clutch from Target. Completes the look and is so freakin cute without being too “cutsey.” Added bonus: It may be small but its shape guarantees enough room for all your stuff!

Black patent peep-toe pumps- while I am a bit concerned at the comfort level of these $20 bad boys, they are just oh-so-adorable. Not to mention how much it sucks to have a good pair of shoes ruined at the bar. So, even if they aren’t as comfy as those slippers, no cat fight will breakout when your roommate drops her late night pizza on them…
