[In early adulthood there is an activity that plays a large role in most of our lives; nights out on the town. And with those nights out always comes the question: “What am I gonna wear?!?”
Each week I’ll be putting together a cute and affordable “going out” ensemble guide (that you can tweak to your own personal style and body type, of course) so that maybe that age-old question can be answered a little quicker than usual. And your friends aren’t waiting - for hours - for you to emerge from your room. Just consider me your own (free) personal Rachel Zoe.]
Many of you are getting ready to graduate and start your “grown-up” jobs, or are doing your spring semester internships, which means that business/biz casual style is on the style menu. But then, what do you do for those after-work drinkies, or a weekday evening date? There are ways to look work-appropriate, while still being fashionable enough for a night on the town. Here’s an idea for a fun and easy day-to-evening (or work to workin’ it) ensemble. Read More »

Ah, cheap yet stylish clothes. Does it really get any better than that? Where else besides Forever 21 or H&M can you snag a $5 top on clearance, or track down a pair of really sweet wide-leg pants for less than $30?I suppose Target or Marshall’s might fall into a similar category, but I’ve always considered their clothes to be on a different level. Target is known for stocking basics over trends, and Marshall’s is known for stocking trends… from two or three seasons ago, so we’ll just leave them out of this discussion.
I have this theory: you’re either a Forever 21 person or an H&M person. You are what you are, and you can never switch over—it’s sacrilegious. If you shop at both, let’s face it: your loyalty lies with one, and you’re just cheating on it with the other. Shame on you.
I happen to be an H&M kinda girl. There – I said it. H&M is and always will be better. Is there really a competition? Not even a little bit. Read More »

(Note: This pic is from a very old Alloy catalog. One I probably owned and worshiped. Please know that all current catalogs have much cuter clothes.)
I’ll never forget my first Delia’s and Alloy catalog spotting.
My then BFF Shanae pulled them out during our 6th grade Social Studies class as our teacher rambled on about the meaning of Thanksgiving. I was immediately drawn to the glossy catalog of teens wearing bell bottoms and midriff baring tops that my friends and I were dying to get into.
Since that day I’ve a been faithful catalog subscriber to both and will probably remain one until I have kids and start to rethink my hatred against these.
As an avid Delia’s and Alloy shopper, I’m shocked by the large number of college girls that don’t buy from them. Where most of the college girls I know either shop at Bloomingdales or Plato’s Closet, Delia’s and Alloy serve as a happy medium. They both sell quality clothing and each host an awesome online clearance bin (I just bought a $100 dollar fire red peacoat from Delia’s for 40 bucks!).
With so many chic, sexy and comfy options, I don’t understand how college girls aren’t causing mayhem at their local Delia’s store, instead letting all the high schoolers get more bang for their buck. Here I’ve compiled some favorites of mine that are perfect for the college coed. Read More »

I don’t know when it happened, but in the course of a few years the prices at Steve Madden have gone up and up and up. Yes, the man makes some cute shoes, but come on; they are supposed to be for the common (yet chic) lady.
Well, the good news is he is having a major online sale. And I mean major. Up to 75% off of what seems like a thousand different styles.
Unlike other sales I have found lately (namely, at KateSpade.com), this sale isn’t on the old and outdated stuff. Sure, there are some ugly inclusions in the sale section, but most of the stuff being marked down is simply marvelous. Looking for a hot new pair of boots? There are so many good ones to choose from!
