Okay, other than its obvious uses (warding off sickness, and removing the ‘X’ from your hands) it really comes in handy. Let’s be real here. We dance our hearts out, and that induces sweat. Clunky deodorants take up way too much room, even if they’re travel size. If you’re feeling a bit ranky under your arms, pat some of this onto your skin. The sanitizer removes the bacteria, taking away the smell and leaving a fresh scent.

Browsing through purses the other day, my eyes fell upon this adorable clutch! I instantly fell in love and knew it needed to be featured on Baggin’ Out. Let me present the Topshop Heart Padded Clutch! If you’re not a lover of all things cute and quirky, this may not be your favorite edition of Baggin’ Out. Considered yourself warned.

Topshop is a great British fashion brand that consistently pumps out trendy pieces at semi-reasonable prices. Not quite as cheap as Forever 21, you can still afford to purchase a piece and intend to wear it for a year, maximum. Topshop not only follows clothing trends, but also what’s hot with handbags!

The Heart Padded Clutch measures 9′ L x 6′ H. It’s the perfect size for toting your going-out essentials: ID, credit card, cell phone and lipstick. The inside is lined in a matching fabric, and features three distinct compartments, one of which zips shut. There is also an additional zippered pocket in the back section. The whole clutch seals with a gold-tone lock.

However, I’m not enamored with it because it’s a good clutch for when I go dancing; the heart detail really takes the cake with this one. The cream poly base has padded, light coral/red hearts sewn into it! The hearts give off a super playful vibe and are bound to attract you attention from fashionistas. The clutch also serves as a great conversation piece. Seriously, I can’t keep myself from “aww-ing” everytime I see the damned thing!

I love summertime. And you know why? Because I can be outside! Northern Ontario winters are not fun (unless you consider -20F on a good day fun), so we like to celebrate the few months of gorgeousness we get and be outdoors. That means beach parties, outdoor patios and all the BBQ I can handle. Considering I’m done school for the year, my mind is permanently set on dress-up party time. I love a casual weekend of fishing and camping as much as most Northern Ontario girls (not stereotyping ladies – all girls I know like this stuff!) but sometimes you just want to look your best and head to a chic club! I admit, despite having a huge purse obsession, I’m lacking in the clutch department. The graduation ceremonies for my university are this weekend and that means lots of fun in town, which means I need a new clutch. And I think I’ve found my winner!

Upon first look, it might seem a little bit silly. I mean, the clutch really does just look like a “pouch.” However, these clutches are all the rage right now with the stylish set and the original by Celine will cost you mucho precious pennies more than this American Apparel version. And the more I think about it, the more I like it! I always struggle with fitting all my stuff into a teeny wristlet when I go out. I mean, what girl can fit all their important things into a purse the size of a blackberry? By the time I tuck in my phone, one lipstick and my cards, the seams are practically busting!

The American Apparel Medium Leather Pouch is large (and in charge; don’t let the “medium” in its name deceive you!), made of 100% leather and comes in a variety of constantly-rotating colors. Currently, the classic black and light brown are available, but also a fun pink and bright red! My personal fav is the bright yellow one (aptly named “Sunshine”), but it’s currently unavailable. Not that I’m going to let that deter me from picking one up while I wait for them to restock.  As expected, there is just one opening that secures with a zipper closure. Nothing fancy in that department, but that’s what this piece is all about: subtlety.

And it does it pretty well, don’t you think?

Let’s be honest, money stored in your cleavage is not sexy. What comes next…your lip gloss, cell phone, camera? (You gotta be packing some major weight up there to store all that.) When your skinny jeans pockets are so tight and small that they’re non-existent, don’t be tempted to store things where you think no one will see. The only place money should be inserted into intimates is most likely not the kind of bar you’re headed out to this weekend.

I’ve been searching for the perfect clutch for years. I’ve been able to take my time because I’ve been spoiled by my boyfriend’s ridiculously deep man-pant pockets. It was working out well until I went overboard and tried to convince him it was OK to store my tampons in there…. I knew I had three options: get some man pants for myself, cut down what I bring out with me, or get a cute clutch to put all my Saturday night necessities in.

Neutral blazer: worth the splurge

It’s really easy to get swept away by trends and brand names when you’re shopping. The stuff is just so pretty! Not pretty, though, is a closet full of overpriced clothes that are torn, tattered or out of style six months later. Before you hit the mall and load up on all that Spring cuteness, take a moment to assess the difference between an investment and an indulgence.

Why: While sequins are a hot trend this season, they are just that – a trend – and who knows if they will still be popular next season? On the other hand, a black pencil skirt is a classic; it works for multiple occasions, will last you for years, and will never go out of style.

Worth it: Good pair of comfortable pumps
Not Worth it: Flats
Why: No matter what flats cost, they are still very…flat. That means they wear out easily, so it doesn’t pay to fork over $100 for a pair; they’re still going to be beat up by the end of the year.

Worth it: A versatile purse
Not Worth it: A clutch that you take to the bar
Why: Fact – The more you drink, the higher your chances of losing things. If you splurge on a clutch and you lose it, it will be heartbreaking, not to mention a HUGE waste of money. On the other hand, a versatile purse that you can use as a school bag, for everyday use or for job interviews is well worth the investment.

Not Worth it: Underwear
Why: Though not often considered, your bra is one of the most important things you put on everyday. A quality bra (that fits right!) not only keeps your girls in place, but it makes your clothing fit and look better. Underwear, on the other hand, is all the same. It doesn’t matter if you spend $10 for a thong at VS or $2 for a thong at Target, it all looks the same under those pants… and it’s all going to wear down quickly in those dorm dryers.

Worth it: Pair of well-fitting jeans
Not Worth it: Leggings
Why: Why anyone would spend more than $20 on a pair of leggings I’ll never understand. Especially when there are so many cheap options out there! They are leggings! They will wear out quickly no matter where you buy them. If you want to make a sound investment, save up some cash and buy a quality pair of jeans. They will last you forever (even if you wear them every day!) and, unlike leggings, there is a distinct difference between the look, feel and fit, of premium denim and the cheap stuff.

Worth it: An LBD or LGD (little grey dress!)
Not Worth it: A trendy mini dress
Why: A classic LBD or LGD is versatile – its appearance can be changed with different shoes or accessories. It also happens to be completely timeless. A trendy mini, however, is likely a one-look outfit that you’ll wear once or twice before retiring to the back of your closet with those other overpriced trendy pieces you wasted money on.

Worth it: A classic, neutral blazer
Not Worth it: A sequined blazer
Why: Same as the pencil skirt/sequin mini, you don’t want to spend the big bucks on something that is clearly a trend. Put that money towards a neutral blazer that works for everything: over jeans for the day, over a mini for the bar, or over a pencil skirt for an interview.

Worth it: A black cardigan
Not Worth it: A C&C California cotton cardigan
Why: If there is one thing I can say it’s this: stop spending money on low quality products just because they have a fancy brand name. $80 for a cotton cardigan that will be torn up and pilling in three months is not worth it. Even if they sell it at Bloomingdales.

Worth it: A warm winter coat
Not Worth it: A cute raincoat
Why: Clearly you need to stay warm in the winter.  A versatile, neutral colored winter coat won’t go out of style, and if you buy a good quality one, it also will last you for years.  A cute raincoat is something you’re likely to get sick of after a season or two, so if you save your money on it you don’t have to love it forever.

Worth it: Dress pants for interviews
Not Worth it: Sweats for lounging around
Why: This one is pretty obvious. Dress pants for interviews should drape well, and be hemmed to wear with your nice, interview appropriate shoes.  If you’re just wearing your sweats around the house (and you should just wear them around the house) it doesn’t really matter what they look like or what brand name is plastered across the butt.

BUT (obviously there’s a “but”; this is the way we look, after all) you can make that throw-on outfit (jeans, boots and a white or black top) instantly fabulous with a simple pop of color. And the best way to do that? A big, bold, bright bag.

There are so many great and afforable bags out there that allow you to have a little fun with your basic winter wardrobe. Add some life to the drab and slushy streets or those so-effing-cold-you-don’t-wanna-leave-the-house-but-you-wanna-get-your-drink-on-so-you-throw-on-a-big-black-sweater winter nights. Whatever you’re doing, there are tons of awesome bags in every color of the rainbow. It’s like Skittles, only instead of making you fat it will make you fashionable.

Ask any college student about the rivalry between their school and its arch nemesis, and they’ll tell you it’s gone on for-ev-errrr. While it may seem that way to most, to students at Lafayette College and Lehigh University, the seeming eternity of their rivalry is the closest approximation to truth in American college sports. Having met one another for 144 times in football since 1884 (only one year after standardized rules for the game were established), their rivalry is the most played in college football history. Still going at it after all these years, the annual game is often sold out months in advance. But you don’t have to travel to eastern Pennsylvania, where these schools are located, to learn more about “The Rivalry”– we’ve got the scoop!

1. Mascot Match-up

Lafayette: If you find yourself in Easton, PA, you’ll be quickly accustomed to all of the Lafayette Leopard pride. Go Leopards!
Lehigh: Lehigh athletics were known as the Engineers up until 1995, when the decision to assign a mascot, the Mountain Hawks, was made. Only last year, in 2008, was the Mountain Hawk given a name: Clutch!

Three credits to: Gotta go with Lafayette. How can you cheer for a team for hundreds of years without a mascot?

2. Athletic Assertiveness (in football, since 1884)

Lafayette: 76 wins
Lehigh: 63 wins

Three Credits to:  Including the 5 tied games between them, Lafayette is the dominant team.

Lafayette: In 2005, Lafayette’s Jonathan Hurt caught a miracle 37-yard touchdown to earn them the win over Lehigh and their first at-large bid to the NCAA D1-AA playoffs!
Lehigh: In 1987, the  last game was played in Lehigh’s Taylor Stadium. At the end of the game, fans stormed the field and literally tore the stadium apart, grabbing goal posts, seats, and all memorabilia that could be wrested from its halls.
