The holidays always make me think of a few things: seeing friends, eating sweets and PARTIES. There is no other time that you can dress up and go out almost every night of the week without seeming like a total boozehound. This obscene amount of going out requires new outfits and new clutches! I’ve been browsing the interweb for that very purpose and came upon this beauty recently: the ASOS Half Moon Clutch.

This unique clutch is made of 100% faux snakeskin, done in brilliant gold and blue. The blue actually has a duochrome thing going on, which is super cool. I love the unlikely pairing of colors and think they look smashing. Seriously, imagine this next to a simple black dress and neutral heels – AWESOME!

I love summertime. And you know why? Because I can be outside! Northern Ontario winters are not fun (unless you consider -20F on a good day fun), so we like to celebrate the few months of gorgeousness we get and be outdoors. Let’s be honest, money stored in your cleavage is not sexy. What comes next…your lip gloss, cell phone, camera? (You gotta be packing some major weight up there to store all that.) When your skinny jeans pockets are so tight and small that they’re non-existent, don’t be tempted to store things where you think no one will see. The only place money should be inserted into intimates is most likely not the kind of bar you’re headed out to this weekend.

I’ve been searching for the perfect clutch for years. I’ve been able to take my time because I’ve been spoiled by my boyfriend’s ridiculously deep man-pant pockets. It was working out well until I went overboard and tried to convince him it was OK to store my tampons in there…. I knew I had three options: get some man pants for myself, cut down what I bring out with me, or get a cute clutch to put all my Saturday night necessities in.

Option number three was definitely the most attractive once I found this Jessica McClintock Mini Bark Embossed Bag.

A good clutch can be nearly impossible to find. They’re either too small for your massive smart phone or too purse-like to bring on a dance floor. They might have tacky rhinestones or a color that’s meant to pop, but really matches nothing in your wardrobe. That’s what I love about this bag in particular- there’s nothing cheesy about it. It’s sleek and chic, and it’s that perfect big-enough-but-not-too-big size.

The other thing I love about this clutch in particular is that it comes with a shoulder strap that’s not hideous. It really might be the only one in that department. I feel the need for a strap for two reasons: I know I can’t be trusted to hold onto that bag all night (Why? Ask martini number five) and I hate the way my arm looks in a slinky top with my upper arm pressing that bag into my arm pit for dear life (please refer to reason number one).

This clutch is understated while still having some sexy shimmer, it’s versatile for your going out needs, and it’s under $30. What more could a girl ask for in a bag? Well, I guess a two-for-one would be nice….I want both colors!

Most guys we know stay up late dreaming of the day they might end up in a giant orgy with beautiful women. We, however, lie awake at night dreaming of a closet full of beautiful clothes. True Life: I’m a Porn Addict? What?!

So, I don’t know about you, but during last week’s GG, my attention moved very quickly from the Little-J-Is-Taking-Down-The-Mean-Girls drama to the clutch with the skull print that she was sporting. And I fell instantly in love.

Let’s be honest: besides the drama, the gorgeous handbags are the most exciting thing on the show.

I know that most of the girls on the show don clothes and accessories way out of my price range, but I just had to know about this bag, whatever it would cost me. And after some intense Googling, I found it!

The oversized and overly fabulous clutch comes in a variety of colors, with or without skulls (because we don’t all have J-Humphrey’s edge).

But this clutch isn’t the only trick up designer Catherine Rapetti’s sleeve; the woman is pretty much an accessories genius. As I delved deeper into her unique and well-crafted line of bags (ugh, my weakness), I pretty much fell in love with almost every tote and clutch this woman has ever created.

And as if her handbags aren’t bad enough, Rapetti’s collection of Love Knot Bracelets are OMG-adorable and I want one in every color.

I realize introducing you to this site may cause trouble for your bank account, but hey, looking like a Gossip Girl doesn’t come cheap. And some things in life – like handbags and shoes – are totally worth it.

Celebrities like Anne Hathaway are fans of her bags, which fall into the $500-$1000 range, and now those of us commoners with label lust can greedily grab up one (or more!) of her new limited-edition collection for Target. The line will be available from October 12th until December 26th and will range from just $20-$50.

Hell yeah.

But Anya didn’t sacrifice style for her much cheaper Target line. The collection stays true to her love of elegance and class with gorgeous colors and faux patent leather, and features satchels (the most popular shape of the season), shoulder bags and clutches. As Hindmarch says, “The designs are sophisticated yet practical, simple and streamlined, and the shapes are classic. They add polish and shine to any outift!”

You definitely don’t want to miss out on this limited collection. Snatch em up at Target stores or online at Target.com.

So whenever a new season comes around, I know I look forward to seeing what the bag trends for that season are gonna be. While there is always a seasonal “it” bag (or 2 or 3) that generally costs more than your monthly rent, you don’t have to break the bank each season to have a trendy bag on your arm. It may be hard to believe, but there are plenty of budget options out there!

As is true with most seasons, this season brings us some new shapes, styles and textures, but there is also a lot of recycling going on. A key with bags is that you don’t need to go matchy matchy, so don’t be afraid to add a pop of color, or if you go with a neutral like grey or brown, you needn’t match all your accessories.

Bags are meant to be a statement piece, so don’t fear going bold and adding some zest to your look with your handbag – be it a clutch, tote, or, this season’s most popular shape, the satchel.

Satchel It To Me

As I said, the most popular shape for this season is the satchel. While totes and hobos are still popular shapes, the satchel has been seen on the arms of celebrities and trend-setters everywhere. The beauty of this shape is that you can incorporate any number of the trends listed below into the satchel, so pick your favorite and go with it.

What A Croc!

This season is all about different materials: reptile skins, lace, patent leather, or, the material du jour for the season, crocodile skin (or for those of us who are environmentally friendly, budget-conscious or both, faux croc). You can find croc in all the different shapes, sizes and colors of the season, from Prada bags down to Target clutches. Croc rocks because it adds a classic and classy touch to any ensemble.

Fringe Benefits

The hottest trend for this season is the bohemian-inspired fringe bag. Again, many designers are going with this trend, but you can find some great fringe bags on a budget at places like Nine West and Forever 21. My personal favorite is this bag from Melie Bianco, which is only $80 and can be found in some of this season’s hottest colors: taupe/grey, brown, burgundy and, of course, black.

A new and popular shape this season is the top-handle bag, which, again, can be found on many of the different shapes, sizes and trends of the season. Yes, all bags have handles on the top, but this trend focuses on a more structurd look and shorter handles. Definitely an updated look on your typical bag.

Treasure Hunt

As we have mentioned a million times before, jewel tones are huge this season, and this trend extends from clothes all the way to bags. Greens, pinks and teals are making an appearance, but the real winners this season are blues and berries. Everyone from Coach to Old Navy is making bags in these luscious colors and they’re a great way to give the neutral colors of fall/winter (black, greys, etc.) a festive pop.

Gift Wrapped Elegance

Giving way to a nostalgic and classic look, clutches with bows are a flirty and feminine touch to an evening look, especially in satin or patent leather. For inexpensive versions of this look, try Target and Payless; they’ve got adorable ones for under $40.

As is always the case with fall, brown bags are all the rage; whether a deep chocolate color or a lighter tan, you can’t go wrong with pairing a brown bag with a hot pair of boots and skinny jeans.
