[While everyone is fabulous in their own right, we thought we should celebrate the campus fashionistas of the world for their continued excellence in not looking like a hot mess for class. So, we started stalking those girls on campus (like Kayla at Lakehead!) to get a few pics and get some tips on their personal style.
And maybe a restraining order or two.
But it’s worth it to highlight fresh, unique wardrobe choices that show personality and the courage to wear what you believe in. You know someone who's got great style? Think the world needs to see what she can do? Send us an email with some photos and she could be the next fashionista celebrated right here.]
College is a wonderful place. It is pretty much the last four years where you can be completely irresponsible and (kind of) get away with it. It is a place where 11 AM is considered early, and where throwing on sweatshirts, pajama pants and Ugg boots (every day) is completely acceptable… and expected. This is why when someone actually has jeans on, I take notice. Which is how I noticed Kerstein, who’s mostly known as KP around campus.
It was time for me to get a “little sister” in my sorority, and I knew the girl I was looking for had to be stylish (it runs in our family.) And along came KP. When she wasn’t wearing sorority letters, she was rocking some seriously edgy outfits, always accompanied by studded belts and funky vests. She even managed to make a backwards baseball cap look chic (when it was raining and she wanted to protect her hair)!
While KP can often be seen sporting super risky looks, I would never say she has one particular style. She can be rocker and edgy, classical and feminine, or comfortable and laid back – all depending on the day. But no matter the heavy watch she has around her wrist or the trendy boots she’s walking in, her best accessory is without a doubt her personality and her confidence, the two most important parts of any fashionista. As the weather continues to grow colder, wearing our favorite spring and summer skirts and dresses becomes increasingly difficult if not impossible. If you’re a girly-girl, or just one to embrace a year-round feminine look, you’ve probably been trying to adapt to the changing seasons without losing any of your style.
Tights are the perfect solution for this dilemma: they’ll keep you warm, make you look stylish, and can totally change your look–for the better! Much better than a bare leg this winter, I’ll show you the season’s trendiest tights and how to wear them! Read More »

Yeah, I know this is blurry. It's hard to capture such fabulosity.
While everyone is fabulous in their own right, we thought we should celebrate the campus fashionistas of the world for their continued excellence in not looking like a hot mess for class. So, we started stalking those girls on campus to get a few pics and get some tips on their personal style.
And maybe a restraining order or two.
But it’s worth it to highlight fresh, unique wardrobe choices that show personality and the courage to wear what you believe in.
And if there’s one girl who’s got some fashion courage it’s Lauren. I spotted her on campus because, well, it’s impossible not to spot her. She’s always decked out in bright colors, bold accessories and some serious confidence. Oh, and her perfect hair helps, too.
We started talking fashion and before I knew it, we were back at her dorm. Where she showed me her closet. Sigh. It was a wonderful place.

1) Describe your personal style.
I have a very eclectic style; I definitely go for bright colors and fun animal prints, something really crazy. You can tell by my hair. Fierce.
2) You can’t leave your house without your ________.
Ipod. For sure. Read More »

There are some people who always come to school looking like they just picked up whatever piece of clothing was in their line of sight, that may or may not be clean (determined by the ever scientific “Sniff Test”). Then there are others who are always dressed so fashionably that you wonder if they live in a clothing store. Or how freaking early they wake up to pull an entire outfit together before making the trek to class.

Enter Sarah.
Even though she isn’t in college anymore, Sarah still exudes the typical college girl enthusiasm for new clothes and the word “sale.” When I approached her and begged to take a picture of her look, she agreed… but only if I took a picture of the back of her skirt. She wanted to show off the best parts of her look: the pretty metallic details and ruffles next to the rich color of her scarf. She’s also got this very Nicole Richie, I-didn’t-try-too-hard twisted pin-up braid going on that’s super cute and complements the entire look perfectly.
As a recent college grad, Sarah is always busy running to and from interviews and meetings. She doesn’t have a lot of time to spend on makeup and hair, which she doesn’t mind. Her style philosophy: a cute outfit to match her bag and long, flirty eyelashes. Sweet and simple. I love it. Read More »

So meet Chloe. Whenever I see her on campus, she always has the cutest outfits on that make you think of picnicking in green meadows and somersaulting across the grassy field. Her style is always really fresh with girly touches like headbands and hair pins, and plenty of gold-toned jewelry to go with. And no one has ever seen her without a cloth bag. Ever. She has defined her own style and done it well. That is why Chloe is my muse of the week.

1) Describe your personal style.
Feminine with a twist. I love shopping at vintage stores, you can always find something that is unique and so YOU at the same time. And there’s less of a chance you’ll run into a girl wearing the same thing. Fashion crisis averted.
2) You can’t leave the house without your ____.
Hobo bag! You can fit anything you want inside it, a pack of gum, a notebook, sometimes even a laptop. I seriously have one of every color. Read More »

And to kick off this whole revolution I chose my friend Shane. I couldn’t think of a more fashionable person; he makes bold choices with his wardrobe daily, making him not only my best dressed guy friend, but my best dressed friend. Period. I mean, isn’t his whole silver eclectic vibe amazingly hot?

While hoodies don’t exactly have a rep for being fashionable, every girl has a few in her closet. They are pretty much THE staple in every college wardrobe since they are comfy, warm, and easily slip on over whatever you wore to bed last night. Even hardcore fashionistas have lazy days!
Since you most definitely have one (or 6) zip-ups in your closet, I’ll give you a few different ways to wear them so you look more casual cute and less “Holy sh*t I just woke up in my boyfriend’s room and I’m 20 minutes late for class so I’ll just borrow his clothes and run out of the door.”
Contrary to popular belief, that is not cute. Read More »

Adding a belt is one of the easiest ways to update an outfit. Instead of going out and spending your money on an entire new ensemble, pick up a fun, stylish belt that works with something you already own! In the warmer part of the year, a belt can give a new silhouette and add a splash of personal style to dresses. When it cools off, belts are great for emphasizing your curves which are hiding under all those warm layers.
Here are some belt trends to try for under $25: Read More »

Whew, we haven’t found any awesome new college blogs in awhile. Not because there aren’t any out there, but because we’ve been hella busy with midterms, planning for Spring Break (board games with the parents?) and, obviously, watching The Bachelor. But now that Jason has made his choice (and then changed his mind), we’ve got some extra time in our hands. And we found quite a few awesome blogs to fill it. We’re pretty sure you’ll love ‘em too.
Miss Random Bliss: The name pretty much sums it all up. This blog is about everything and our inner ADD child loves it.
LOLSam: He’s a cool kid just writing about life and it’s entertaining and fun to follow. If we knew this kid in real life, we’d probably hug him.
Flying Saucer: Not only is this blog beautiful, but this girl knows fashion and knows how to write it. We just really love reading what she has to say. Especially since she’s British and we read it all aloud in a British accent.
Not Just Surviving: Did you know there are people out there who go to college merely to survive? What? They don’t love it to bits and never want to leave? Well, this blog helps them (and the rest of us sane people) enjoy college a little more and get the most from it. Fab.u.lous.
College Chic: It’s cute, it helps our wardrobes, and it’s just for us. Love it.

[I want it, I need it, I can’t live without it. There are so many things on store shelves and racks right now that we want to take home and hang in our closets. Things that are so cute, everyone should know about them. We’ll share ‘em with you here (because we’re that nice), but as far as actually getting them goes….well, you’re on your own with that one.]
If you’re looking for an alternative to European-based companies such as Topshop, H&M, and ASOS, consider taking a peek at what Lipsy has to offer. Among the many fabulous pieces on its website was this classy tulip skirt with a bow sash. And I want it.
It comes in two great colors, so you can stand out in the crowd, yet still look sophisticated. The tulip skirt accentuates the hips and then narrows to show off your curves while the abundant bow adds that extra bit of oomph to an otherwise simple piece. Read More »
