Spring Break: The quintessential college experience. A time to let loose and go crazy, it’s something every college student looks forward to. Spring Break is shown on every TV show involving college students, never failing to portray the insane experiences participants go through. While some may describe it as trashy, it’s not necessarily true totally true.
Come on, it’s not Spring Break if it’s not trashy! That simple fact is part of American culture. The random hook ups, the blackouts, the drunken, forgotten adventures, Spring Break is about establishing yourself as a complete and utter messcase. Soo, where should you go for SB2k12? Have no fear, our boys at Coed Magazine are here bringing you America’s Top 10 Trashiest Spring Break Destinations!

So it’s Spring Break and I only have two words: hell yes. Here are the top 10 ways Greeks keep it, well, Greek on vacation.
1. More flags than the Olympics – You all know what I’m talking about… Greeks are extremely territorial, and this doesn’t stop on Spring Break. Those giant, obnoxious flags you see out on the beach (but can barely make out in your drunken state) are a point of pride for the typical frat-star.
2. Throw what you know – Confused by sorority girls throwing mystery gang signs on the beach for a picture? Don’t be. Fear not, you precious little GDI – sorority girls across the country this week are going on Spring Break, and will undoubtedly scrunch together, pose in the “sorority squat” position, and throw up their sorority letters with their hands. Harmless, I promise.
3. When mixing pastel polos, Sperry’s and board shorts becomes acceptable – By definition? The ultimate frat-star… and grounds to make any sorority girl cringe. But unfortunately, you are still going to see it. A lot of it. It’s frat boy beach fashion at it’s finest, and it’s not going anywhere. Brace yourself. Read More »

You CAN recover from this!
Last week, I gave you all some tips on how to prevent sunburn and recommendations for sunscreen. While I’m sure every one of you went out and bought sunscreen to wear every day and not just for SBXI, I bet there’s a few who didn’t. Or there are those stragglers who are wearing SPF 5 thinking it will work. And that’s okay. Except now you’re all “Why didn’t I listen to Caitlin?! Now I’m sunburnt and having a horrible time!”
Don’t worry, this video is all about treating sunburn! I rarely burn, but I’ve had a few cases of awful sunburn where I had to stay inside and lay on the floor because my down comforter felt like a bed of nails against my skin. I’ve blistered and picked and even had sun poisoning. So trust me, I feel your pain.
If you look like a lobster or want to know what to do just in case, then watch below for some great tips on treating your burn! And next time, wear your SPF!! Read More »

There are only 4 days (well, more like 3 days, 22 hours and 12 minutes) until your flight takes off for Cancun. You’ve got 6 lectures and 2 discussion sections between you and the smell of SPF 30/sweet, sweet freedom, but your brain has been checked out for days.
While your professor drones on and on about about the feminist’s criticism of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” you’re having a mid-day dream about strawberry daiquiris and that adorable new tankini you just picked up at Target. Instead of taking notes in History of the Civil War, you work on your packing list, adding necessities like “dangly earrings,” “push-up bra,” and “Listerine bottle full of Absolut.” And when you should be in the library brushing up on Physics, you’re off at the campus drug store stocking up on tanning oil (and aloe for when said tanning oil inevitably fails…3 hours into the trip).
And you’re not the only one. Come on, it’s SPRING BREAK. It’s been months since your last break from school and between midterms and the gloomy, gray weeks, every student on campus has been on a mental vacation for days. And that would be fine with everyone if it weren’t for that hard ass professor who always likes to prove a point. The eternal party pooper who returns home to his 12 cats every night and can’t handle the idea of college students having fun. Read More »

Spring is in the air and though you may not exactly be able to tell from the weather quite yet, don’t you just feel it coming?
My mind is starting to wander off and not care about school as much…or at all. I seem to be dressing in more brightly colored clothes and all I’m waiting for is the time of year people start setting up beer pong tables on their front lawns. Oh, the glory of spring day drinking.
I think there are just one too many excuses to celebrate this month – from Spring Break to St. Patty’s Day and even Mardi Gras (even though I will not exactly be there to enjoy it…). Let me tell you, March is really gonna test my stamina. Read More »

Spring Break is right around the corner!! Can you tell I’m really excited? Come on, I know I’m not the only one.
But while it may seem like you can be as carefree as you want, truth is you need to take care of yourself, especially your skin! We all love us some Snooki, but no one wants to come back from SBXI looking like that. I’m not trying to lecture you or be your momma, but you must wear sunscreen! Every day! Not just while you’re lounging on the beach drinking margaritas or bikini skiing. Really, a killer tan is not worth the harm you can do to your skin. Read More »

Sun, sand, swimsuits and Spring Break.
Apart from an icy cocktail and a hot cabana boy, the final touches for your Spring Break packing is an assortment of practical (yet stylish) accessories. The first accessory: the perfect sunhat that is as fabulous as it is functional. Not only will you look fierce on the beach, but it will also save your scalp and face from too much sun exposure. You’ll also need a great pair of sunglasses to shield you from the sun when you’re laying out… or struggling to stay outside after a late night out. (Sunnies are also great for discrete boy watching. Just sayin’.)
Now is also the time to start scoping out sandals if you need a new pair. Just be smart; Spring Break might not be the time to break in a pair of expensive sandals you love, in the off chance you lose one. Which, as anyone who’s ever been on Spring Break knows, is highly likely. And of course, you need a great beach bag to hold it all (and sunblock, magazines, a bottle of tequila…) that won’t get ruined when someone spills their margarita on it.
What’s that? You need some help picking out the goodies? Well lookie here – I’ve got 15 splendid Spring Break accessories ready and waiting for you. Bon Voyage! Read More »

We’re so close to Spring Break I can almost taste the sunscreen and tequila (not together. Ew.)
As you start to think about what to bring (and equally important, what not to bring) you might be finding some gaps in your Spring Break-appropriate wardrobe. Got your swimsuit (or maybe 15)? How about something to go over it? If you left your favorite sundress at your parents’ house, or lost it somewhere between Independence Day and Welcome Week (damn you, kiddie pool!), there are plenty of cute (and affordable!) options hitting store shelves right now.
And don’t hold back; you need one!
First, a new sundress can do double duty, working both as a cover-up at the beach-side bar and as a super sexy, fun frock for when you’re out at night with your friends. Plus, while you’re most likely buying it for Spring Break, you’ve got a whole lot of spring and summer coming up (not soon enough) to get plenty of use out of it. And, depending on the cut and style, with the proper accessories (tights, a long-sleeve tee or a blazer) you can make a sundress last well through next winter.
So have some fun and embrace the variety of shapes, bold colors, funky patterns and styles of this season’s sundresses. Just don’t forget to pack your sunblock. Lobster red skin clashes with everything. Read More »

Your tickets are bought, your bags are packed and your alarm is set for the first day of your Spring Break. Aside from the token textbook you’re bringing with you (simply to keep up appearances, right?), you plan on leaving all your worries, cares, and assignments at home. But here’s one final checklist for you to go over before you leave so that you have an awesome, healthy, safe trip.
Get sleep.
Wait a minute, “get sleep”? Yeah, yeah, Mom. The last thing you want to do after dozens of late nights studying for exams or writing papers is sleep through your Spring Break. This is your time, baby! Maybe you’ll get a nap or two in the hotel room after a day on the beach or a night on the town, but otherwise – sleep is on the bottom of your list of priorities. Unfortunately, sleep should be a crucial part of your Spring Break days. A good night’s rest will keep you happy, alert, fresh-faced and relaxed – and it’s even been shown that sleep helps keep your metabolism up, which will keep off the pudge from that extra helping of the local dishes…or bottomless margs.
Drink water.
It seems obvious, but the last thing on your mind when you’re running around a new town, shopping, sightseeing and hitting on waiters in a foreign language is to get your 8 glasses of water a day. Carry a reusable water container with you throughout the day and refill it as soon as it’s empty. Staying hydrated is especially important in the warmer Spring Break destinations. If you are uncertain about the safety of the local water, buy bottled or sterilized water. Avoid ice unless it was made from treated or chlorinated water.
Stay healthy en route.
Whether you’re carpooling with some friends or flying first-class, it’s important to keep yourself healthy and avoid catching something that could ruin your Break. Pack some hand sanitizer, dress comfortably and take your vitamins (especially Vitamin C). A lot of students will be traveling during the first days of Spring Break and, odds are, someone’s immune system will buckle. Read More »
