A Very Brady Lesbian Affiar

the brady bunch lesbianWhen I think Brady Bunch, I think annoying theme song, candy coated plots, and days spent throwing up into a paper bag (somehow, I always managed to watch this show when I was home sick from school…and barfing).

The one thought that never used to enter the picture? Lesbians.

Apparently, Marsha Brady (known as Maureen McCormick in real life) is writing a tell-all book about her time on the sitcom, her bout with drugs and an eating disorder, as well as a lesbionic affair she had with her co-star Eve Plumb, who played her sister Jan.

“The most explosive comments will be how the then-blonde, blue-eyed cutie developed a crush on Eve Plumb, which led to some sexual play” a source reveals, saying that while Maureen isn’t a lesbian, there were definitely sexual “hijinks” going on behind the scenes of America’s beloved family comedy.

All I can say is, thank God this didn’t happen in 2007, because if it did, it would have been videotaped and uploaded to the entire world by now. Read More »

Coming Attractions: Dan in Real Life

Coming October 26th is Dan in Real Life, starring Steve Carrell and…Dane Cook. Awesome!

Meet Dane Cook, Musician. Wait, He Sucks.

dane cookI remember when Dane Cook was funny.

Back in my freshman days of college, me and my best friend would get a bottle of cheap wine, lock ourselves in her dorm room, play endless snippets of Dane’s authentic stuff and giggle obnoxiously until we went out to the parties, quoting the entire thing.

The Burger King bit was our personal fave. That was good stuff!

But then, every college student and their mother caught on to Dane, he sold out, started making crap movies with crap “actresses”, and, suddenly, his comedy isn’t so funny anymore. Pretty ironic that a guy who once made college students laugh so hard is now being laughed at by college students.

It gets worse. MUCH WORSE. Dane is now trying his Superfingered-hand at bad emo music. Yep. He just released a sh*t-tastic song that everyone is pointing and laughing at him over, called “Forward” and you can listen to it here.

Check out the sick guitar solo, amazing backup vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, such as:

“Pushing from within, everything’s not fine. Tonight I’m gonna take back what’s mine.” Read More »

Improv is Everywhere!

Never been one for Improv?

Yeah me either. I’m just not that funny on the spot. But Improv Everywhere’s mp3 Experience 4, held on August 18, took improv to the masses and the comedy challenged.

Pretty much the coolest game ever, all you had to do was download the mp3, sync up your ipod and meet at the designated local in lower Manhattan. Then, the fun began. And with total strangers, no less!

Participants were instructed to hit play at 4 o’clock on the dot as they were told to complete tasks like pointing to the Statue of Liberty (even though they couldn’t see it), skip to a German Tourist, play Twister and interact with the public (high fives and thumbs ups!) as they walked to a park for the next part of their mission. SuperBad is Super Good!

superbad posterI don’t consider myself an especially cool person. I like video games and computers. I read a lot. It only takes me two beers to start making bad decisions. But earlier this week I had an unexpected – but very welcome – boost to my self-esteem.

I found myself standing in an absurdly long line outside a movie theater on 34th Street. And while the crowd was varied, they all had one thing in common. Comedy geeks. And what was the thing to do in NYC earlier this week for these lovers of all things funny?

An advanced screening of Superbad, of course!

But, c’mon, who am I kidding? I was probably more excited than most of the people in the theater, (and it was only partly due to my intense crush on Michael Cera) I’ve just convinced myself over the past 23 years that I’m not obvious about my semi-closeted affection for comedy.

The lights went down, the movie started, and I, along with the rest of the audience, was treated to one of the best teen comedies based on partying, drinking, and being 18 that I’ve seen since 1999 (remember when we all thought American Pie was hilariously original?). Read More »

Undercover Cheerleaders is Funny Sh%t. Literally.

Undercover-cheerleaders.jpgLast month we covered a new, reality web series on Hungrymantv.com called Undercover Cheerleaders, and it’s actually – surprise, surprise – really funny!

The hotties are actually actresses who pull off the annoying, yet hilarious stereotypical cheerleaders – Nikki, Jess, Ash and Steph – who rise above their rejection from the Dallas Cowboy squad and decide to turn other peoples’ wrong social injustices into rights.

In the brand new episode entitled, “Selling Shit,” one of the girls learns the unfortunate truth behind street vendors in New York City after buying a “Picasso” from a man in Times Square. The cheerleaders decide to make their own crap (literally, crap) to sell and see who buys it and then teaches those stupid people a lesson through the art of cheer – no jazz hands needed.

The next episode won’t be featured on the site until July 17th, but check out Undercover Cheerleaders’ first three webisodes so far; the music used as back tracks is hilarious, as is the reality aspect of the show. See for yourself if people actually believe these girls are cheerleaders and not actresses just charging them a couple bucks for dog poop.

No pun intended, but this is funny shit. Watch the new episode here.
