Colorblocking is one of the hottest trends this year, and I, for one, am thrilled about it. I love bright colors, but they can be a little intimidating to wear. Colorblocked clothing makes wearing brights simple by pairing multiple coordinating and/or contrasting brights together with neutrals. You don’t even need to do anything but put that ish on!
Colorblocking can be found on everything this season, such as dresses, tops, shoes and accessories! (Note: That does not mean you should wear all of that stuff together. Seriously, don’t.) All of these pieces will help you rock the colorblocking trend, for just $20 or less each!

The other day I was browsing the Topshop website and came across a dainty little number with so much potential. The Orange Cutaway Halter Dress (yeah, real original name, Topshop), is, like you guessed, an orange, halter-style dress made of flowy chiffon. Besides the knockout color, this dress also features a stunning cutout in the chest area, giving it a sexy ’70s feel and a very thin break in the fabric on the back, which will be evident when you’re moving around. Bottom line: The dress is hot, but leaves something to the imagination! When most people look at this dress, they immediately think “going out,” however, when paired with the right pieces, this dress becomes a super versatile item for both day and night.

Italian fashion house Missoni has been rockin’ and rollin’ with their collaborations this year, designing merchandise for Converse, Havaianas and even stroller company Bugaboo. And just last week, Missoni announced yet another designer collaboration in the works — with Target!
Excited? Having heart palpitations? Wanna know when you can get your paws on this stuff? Read more about my dream come true the Missoni collaboration right here!

Facebook. Twitter. Urban Outfitters.
These three websites are, hands down, the most clicked bookmarks on my Safari page. Like most people, I have my allotted time throughout the day where I routinely check my Facebook News Feed and update my Twitter. It is almost automatic that I then click to Urban and check out what’s new on sale. And then buy it all. Woops?
Online shopping has become almost a hobby as it is almost too convenient to scroll through an entire store, easily click the size you want for a cute shirt and have it shipped in a few days. Yet in a world where there’s an unlimited amount of online stores to shop at, how do you know which ones to skip over and which ones are worth looking at? Leave it to me to tell you the websites with the best sales, free shipping, and cutest clothes!
Behold: the holy grail of online shopping.
If you’re a committed shopper like myself, these websites will change the way you shop forever. You won’t regret reading this…or signing up for those annoying mailing lists (which WON’T be annoying with all those sales you’ll hear about.)
Happy shopping!

Every girl needs a good purse (or 12). Whether you’re going for groceries or running from class to class, they are simply essential for holding all your, uh, essentials. Each week, I’m going to show you a fashionable, yet functional purse for the college crowd and let you know why you absolutely need it! I apologize ahead of time to your bank account.
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but straw bags are now very “in.” If you’ve been living under a rock, you may have missed the hoards of celebs toting straw totes by everyone from Marc Jacobs to Valentino. So naturally, we all need one.
Originally, I was going to show a $30 straw tote, but you know what? It fell apart! Straw is a delicate material to work with and unless a straw bag is made with half-decent craftsmanship, it’s going to unravel. Since I wasn’t about to feature a $400 straw bag (that’s just silly), I found a happy medium in the Juicy Couture Sunday Tote.
This little number is made of synthetic straw, weaved super tight and topped off with genuine leather trim, handles and front panel. This means quality, aka your bag isn’t going to fall apart! Unlike most Juicy bags that SCREAM the name brand, this one is more understated with a teensy nameplate on the front that reads “Juicy Couture.” There are also 4 metal “feet” on the bottom, so your purse will be sturdy, structured and protected from the dirty surfaces you put it on. And look at how cute those little charms are! A leather octopus and clam – my heart melts! Read More »

[Welcome to Celebrity Chic on the Cheap, where our style guru takes a celebrity look and breaks it down for you, our poor college fashionista. What does that mean? It means that while the celebrities (like everyone's favorite not-so-reality star, Lauren Conrad) are spending $5,000 and more on an ensemble, you an spend way less...and save the rest for Margarita Mondays.]
Lucy Hale is steadily climbing her way up the Hollywood ladder, propelled by the awesomeness that is Pretty Little Liars. It has everything that Gossip Girl used to have – suspense, dark humor, compelling story lines, and high schoolers who are way too attractive. Yes, I am obsessed (and still bitter over the demise of GG, but that’s a whole separate rant).
In addition to killer acting skills, Lucy has a totally banging sense of style. She can rock trendy and sexy looks just as easily as elegant, classic, preppy looks. Since it’s finally, finally, spring, I am totally excited to gush over a hot summer look. Read More »

When rompers first hit runways and stores a few seasons ago, I was pretty skeptical — I wasn’t so sure anyone with any sort of shape could ever pull them off this particular fashion staple from our parents’ days needed a comeback. But they’ve had some pretty good staying power this time around, and I’m starting to think I might have judged rompers too quickly.
For starters, they do seem like the perfect clothing item for summer! Rompers are a complete outfit in just one piece of clothing, they don’t require finding a matching top, and they transition from day to night with just a few simple accessory swaps. It’s like they’re made for those lazy summer days.
I just might have to give rompers a chance after all! And with so many cute rompers available at affordable prices (like all of these, which are just $20 or less each), there’s really no excuse not to!

Those Baby Phat designers really know how to flatter a woman's body.
I have to be honest, I used to be a little scared of maxi-dresses. Okay, not waking-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night scared, but just a little nervous. They were always one of those trends that I thought looked great on other people – usually tall, gorgeous people – but I’d always been too nervous to try. I also wasn’t really sure if they were my style. While I tend to keep things pretty girly, I also like to go a little edgy with lots of leather and blazers, and I’d always found it was girls with that effortless Nicole Richie boho thing going on that pulled the maxi-dress off best. Then, of course, there was the issue of length and height. I am average height, but I always consider myself a bit of a shortie and I was worried I’d be overwhelmed by this much material.
But then I decided to face my fears head on (and procrastinate studying for exams), so I got myself a maxi-dress and went to town in my closet mixing and matching pieces to make a ton of different looks. And much to my surprise, the dress was not only totally flattering on my body, but also a really versatile piece. You really can do so much with these dresses….the dresses that will now officially be my spring and summer staple (partly because it doesn’t require me to shave my legs).
So, for those of you who’ve also feared the maxi-dress, here are just a few different ways to style ‘em up for every style and occasion: Read More »

This summer fashion is taking cues from one of our favorite girls from Kansas, who wore a memorable gingham dress on her journey along the yellow brick road. The modern day interpretation? Checked fabric made into everything from skirts to scarves.
Checked fabric is similar to the ever popular plaid, though, in my opinion, a much more summery version. There’s just something so light and airy about checked fabric, no matter which way you wear it. And, contrary to what you might think, it’s quite versatile. If you opt for a small check, from a distance your piece will look like a solid color, but have a lot more visual interest up close. (Which means you can also mix it up with other prints!) If you’re looking to make a bigger statement, a larger check will be more obvious and add a pop of fun to any spring or summer look.
Got ya sold on checks? Here are 15 items to get you thinking about how to incorporate the pattern into your no-more-school! wardrobe. Read More »

During the summer, I live in my flip flops — they’re comfortable and they keep my feet cool. But while they’re great for the pool or beach or with shorts, flip flops don’t go with everything. In fact, they can look sloppy when worn with a dress or a dressier outfit. The solution?
Flat sandals!
They look like you actually put some thought into your outfit, instead of just throwing on whatever pair of flip-flops you had lying around, but they’re easier to wear (and a whole lot more comfortable) than heels or wedges.
Check out this collection of adorable flat sandals to find the perfect pair to take you through the summer months — but for just $20 or less, you can afford to grab a few different pairs! Now all you need is a pedicure and a cute sundress and you’re ready for summer!
