Who knew that it was so easy to get and furnish a ridiculous apartment in NY? 30th floor? Brand new? Single girl living alone? Yeah, that sh*t doesn’t happen in NYC, where the rent for a studio is $2,000 a month (and you can touch all four walls at the same time). But Whitney did! And she had it all furnished and moved into in like .2 seconds!
Who said living in NY was hard?
You don’t even have to work the whole day if you don’t want to, and you can take calls from your boyfriend (well, not really, but we’ll get to that later) while you’re on the job!
Speaking of jobs, isn’t Whitney supposed to be doing PR for DVF? I know I am still in school, but I thought PR was all about getting the company into the media (read: onto a not-so-reality show on MTV), not tying models’ shoes and taking pictures for a website.
But, whatever. Whitney’s job is clearly not important to her, so why should I care? She’s more focused on her man friend, who just wants to get to know her better and that’s all that matters. I can’t imagine why she is so confused about him; he’s so straightforward. He doesn’t like labels (read: he’s just not that into you), he doesn’t want her to be his #1 priority (read: he’s just not that into you), and he really likes his life the way it is (read: he just wants his band to get some recognition on MTV). Well, it ain’t The Hills, that’s for sure. Tonight was the season premier of The City (plus a second episode, which I almost missed when I had to run and take care of all that Diet Coke I was drinking), and I have to say – I was less than enthused. Maybe I hyped it up too much in my head, or maybe it’s because Bromance shattered my expectations (the “can-fessional”? Amazing.), but I was just not really feeling The City.
First of all, Jay is the East Coast version of Justin Bobby. He’s got the hats, the hair and the douchey lies that his lady just can’t seem to resist. But he’s also got a killer accent and I would probably fall for all that sh*t too. I just feel like his little “story-line” is going to be quite similar to the Audrina/JB saga and I am so over that. That sh*t should have stayed in L.A. Read More »

So there will be no Spencer and Heidi, no Brody, and no Justin Bobby. There is also a very real chance that the whole thing is fake. But that doesn’t mean The City isn’t going to be pretty bombtastic. It’s got Whitney Port!
Ok, so that’s not such a selling point; the girl is pretty blah when you take away her flawless skin, her perfect hair and that I-want-it-right-now wardrobe. But there will be drama! And a hot guy (with an Australian accent!), and lots of fabulous DVF fashion!
And maybe not having Speidi and Justin Bobby’s overalls will be a nice change of pace for all of us Hills fans. Or, at the very least, maybe they’ll make a cross country trip to visit Whitney in her new world. Read More »

So, tonight’s episode kinda sucked. (Almost as bad as that picture to the left. Fo realz.) The best part of it was the hummus I scarfed down while watching. I can’t totally blame the people over at MTV, though; that episode of Gossip Girl was pretty hard to follow.
But, still – the episode actually opened up a lot more questions than it answered. Questions like:
1) What is the point of the whole Stephanie/Cameron relationship? I mean, really, why did this story line ever exist? Was it to show us that boys like Stephanie? Did MTV hope for it to cause more tension than it did? Maybe a bar brawl between Cameron, Brody and his Bromancers? Was it to bring Steph and Spencer together, or maybe tear them apart? Why?!
The love story lasted for like 5 minutes over the span of 6 episodes, so why are we supposed to care that they broke up? I just don’t understand. Enlighten me, people. (Speaking of Cameron, did anyone else notice when he tried to kiss Heidi hello and he totally got the back of her head? Awkward!)
2) Did MTV force Lauren’s parents out of their house? Lauren’s epiphanies about moving on and growing up seem a bit too…er…advanced for her to have come up with on her own, which leads me to believe that this was yet another scripted moment by the folks at MTV. Does that mean, then, that they forced her parents to move out of their mansion so they could create this moment? That’s a lot of packing for one crappy episode. Read More »

Next to Welcome Week, NY Fashion Week is our favorite week of the year. We may actually like it more, but only because we can remember what happened/don’t feel like total hell at the end of it.What could be better than watching our favorite designers send their newest duds down the runway? And what better way to spend our days than by taking all those delectable looks and figuring out ways to make them our own?
Ooo wee! We get so excited just thinking about it.
This year’s fashion week did not dissapoint. Everyone from Nanette Lepore to The Gap pulled out all the stops and sent some brilliant looks through the tents at Bryant Park. We sifted through every last collection (yes, our lives are sad and horribly difficult) to bring you our favorites of Fashion Week 2008. Sure, actually being at the shows next to Anna Wintour and Rachel Zoe would have been glamorous and awesome, but we got to do this in our PJs.
Which is how we roll.
And wouldn’t want it any other way.

I’m not gonna lie: I was drunk when I watched Project Runway last night. It’s not my fault; there was a two-for-one special at Happy Hour and I can never turn down a two-for-one. That being said, I think I need to be drunk every Wednesday night because, 1) pizza tastes so much better after some vodka/soda, and 2) I actually enjoyed last night’s episode.
The challenge this week was to design an outfit for Diane Von Furstenberg’s fall collection. HOLY SH*T! OMFG. WTF?! ROFL!! (Sorry…that last one doesn’t fit, but I just got carried away.)
DVF is a fashion icon. She’s huge! I would sell my first born child to wear one of her dresses. And everyone was super excited to get to work with her, especially Kenley who has never designed for someone that big before. Except, of course, K-Mart and Wal-Mart. In fact, she was so excited she cried. Three times.
Too bad that enthusiasm didn’t translate into her boring dress that I could totally make (and I’ve never even touched a sewing machine). Oh, and Kenley, let’s not tell Ms. Diane Von Furstenberg what is missing from her collection, K? Don’t forget: you have K-Mart on your resume. The end. Read More »

We all know that there are people out there who make a living trading sex for money. Hell, one of them is even getting her own TV show. As human beings, many of us frown upon the act of prostitution and view it as something dirty, disgusting and just plain sad.
Sex, after all, is supposed to be about love and expressing that love with a very special someone.
Or, at least, it should be free.
But it seems that maybe this whole “trading sex for something” thing is actually innate in all of us. A at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) revealed that many people – including those from affluent backgrounds – were willing to (and already had!) trade sex for a good or service.
The results shocked many. Why would someone who has everything – and the means to get anything they needed – reduce themselves to bartering with their loins? I am no Psychologist (even if I did minor in Psych at UofM), so I won’t even attempt to answer that. Instead, I pondered the many things I would give it up for. Read More »

Historically, women have always been shoved into a little feminine box. We have always had to be proper – pinky out when drinking tea, crossing our legs at the ankle when sitting on the couch, letting the man make all the first moves. That trend has made its exit in the past 10 or so years, but for some reason, it still stuck around in the fashion world. Frilly dresses, delicate fabrics and beautifully crafted footwear are the staple of many women’s wardrobes.
But that custom’s days are also fleeting.
There is a new look making its way on runways from Paris to New York that is pairing the daintiness of yesteryear with the attitude of the modern day woman. And it is easy to do: the trick is to pump up the hardware on your feet and temper the volume of your dress so you look fresh and strong – not like Avril Lavigne. Read More »
