Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, Russell Brand and Katy Perry…the latest celebrity couple that’s hoping to be added to the recently divorced is model and Project Runway host Heidi Klum and singer Seal. You know, the perfect couple that was supposed to last forever and gave us all hope for love, love’s divine. Well, not anymore, since Heidi is set to say “auf wiedersehen” to her husband after almost seven years of marriage.

According to TMZ, Heidi Klum will file divorce papers in L.A. County Superior Court as early as next week. Of course, she’ll be citing celebrities’ most common reason for divorce, “irreconcilable differences.” It’s really hard for me to even think of what these two can’t work out and will have to put their three biological kids and Heidi’s eldest girl (from a prior relationship) through an unfortunate divorce.

So Heidi went to the Golden Globes without you last Sunday, Seal. You two were just gorgeously vacationing in the snow together, according to your Twitter, Heidi!

Besides, Heidi, you fell from him hard when you met him in back in 2004. Remember when you told Oprah about seeing Seal for the first time…in bicycle shorts? ”I met him in a hotel lobby in New York City and he came in just from the gym and I was sitting there and I was, like, wow,” Klum said. ”And I pretty much saw everything. The whole package.” Think back to the good times and hold on!

Seal hinted at the divorce on his own Twitter account, sadly typing, “The End.” to his followers. It just got real, y’all.

We’re sad to see you two split. Honestly. Gonna go listen to “Kiss From A Rose” on repeat for the rest of the day now. Where’s my pint of ice cream?

Okay, so apparently, Facebook causes one-third of divorces. Here’s why.

Just a little bit of advice for Ashton Kutcher as he moves on from Demi Moore.

I’m a professional blog editor. I define the word thrifty on a daily basis. In fact, some days  I think I confuse thrifty with cheap…and occasionally even homeless-esque.  So I’m always shocked to find people who are living even more within a modest budget than me. Especially when that person is an A-list celebrity.

Yesterday Zooey Deschanel’s lawyer released her income and expense declaration. Not only did we find out she has three million dollars  just sitting around the bank, but she’s barely spending any of her $95,000 monthly income. She claims to only to spend $500 on eating out each month. Isn’t that like the cost of one dinner in LA? Oh and I should mention she donates money to charity on a regular basis.

Does this make Zooey my new favorite celebrity? Annoying voice, exaggerated quirks, and a weirdly spelled name aside, I think it does.

Finally, a headline we’ve been waiting for since 2003: Vanessa Bryant has filed for divorce from Kobe Bryant! Like countless other celebrity/California divorces, she cited “irreconcilable differences.” Also known as “you cheated on me one too many times, so I stayed with you through all your court trials and championships so that I could get my half of it all in 2011.” Yep, the Laker who plays for $25 million per year (and counting) did not have a freakin’ prenup. Maybe that’s not something you really think about when you get engaged six months after meeting on a music video shoot.

More power to you, Vanessa! Keep your head held high, and put your fist up in the air — you know, the one with that 8-carat purple diamond ring on it that’s worth $4 million alone. Collect your spousal support, take care of Natalia and Gianna and enjoy the fabulously single life, because your divorce is one of the Most Necessary Breakups of 2011 (well, in general, really)…congratulations!

Before you can say “when’s Kim Kardashian premiering her livebirth special on E!?”, she’s filed for divorce from Kris Humphries. Yep, after 72 hours of apparently not-so-wedded bliss, they’re calling it quits. Sure we knew it was coming, but still, this fast?! Does E! need a divorce special to boost their ratings or something!? Sorry for all the ?!, but we’re kind of in shock over here.

[You may be wondering why, since I usually write about new releases, I have chosen to review Blue Valentine (which was released in late December most places) this week. Well, despite being out for a month, Blue Valentine remains a water cooler topic. The subject is no longer the MPAA’s original decision to give Blue Valentine an NC-17 rating (read my thoughts on that here), but instead it is Michelle Williams' nomination for Best Actress; more notably, it is her nomination compared to Ryan Gosling who did not receive a nomination for his performance. Aside from that, it is an Oscar-nominated film, which means that if you look hard enough, you can probably find a showing in your area.]

Blue Valentine is the story of a young couple in the process of falling into, and subsequently out of, love. The film masterfully goes back and forth between the two times, providing an amazing juxtaposition. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams play the couple and they deserve so much credit for their work in this film. Their performances make the audience see a transformation, while only truly acting infatuation and whatever the opposite of infatuation is.

When I was debating whether or not to see the film, specifically to see it alone, my friend told me I should and had an interesting comment. He said, “It’s the kind of movie that you don’t want to talk about after.” I was sold. And now I know exactly what he was talking about. The film is beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and perfectly depressing.

There are some amazing directors up for an Academy Award for best director this year, but I believe that, despite not receiving a nomination, Derek Cianfrance deserves a lot of credit for this film. He uses the subtlest techniques in order to portray the two different times in characters’ lives. The scenes in both time periods have a gritty life-like quality, but the flashbacks contain a slight gloss and optimism to them whereas the present day features a darker, harsher setting. It really helps you get into the mindset of both times, which would otherwise be tricky considering how different the characters’ emotions are from past to present.

Both Gosling and Williams always impress with their acting and their work in Blue Valentine is no exception. These characters are faced with obstacle after obstacle and the actors make every reaction they portray completely believable.

I had a theory while watching this film that everything will get something out of it. Sure, it’s a pretty depressing film, but we all have different life experiences and opinions when it comes to things like falling in love and divorce. I, for example, am a cynic on the subject of love and have been a child of divorce. Needless to say, I felt a strong connection to the film. And, if you choose to see it, you likely will bring your own baggage, or optimism, to your movie-going experience as everyone subconsciously does. So, while the film has undeniably depressing moments, I am curious to read your comments regarding what you got out of the film.

If you’re looking to laugh at the theater this weekend, don’t see Blue Valentine. But, if you feel an onset of masochism, try out Blue Valentine; you will be impressed by the beautiful way Cianfrance, Gosling, and Williams tell this story (and then you will be very melancholy, so don’t say I didn’t warn you), or, at the very least, it will give you something to talk about at your Academy Awards party (February 27^th! Save the date!).

Large Movie Theater Popcorn With Extra Butter

1. Eva Longoria has filed for divorce from husband Tony Parker.  This surprising news came out after several days of her publicists saying the rumors were false, but Eva tweeted the news herself.  Apparently, Tony was sending inappropriate texts to his former teammate’s wife! Yikes, that’s a major no-no.  Sad news, but I’m pretty sure Eva will have someone new and better soon enough.  Who the heck would cheat on her?!  She can wear a jacket without pants for goodness sakes!

2. This.is.bananas: Rachel Zoe is preggers!  The fabulous fashionista has finally admitted she’s pregnant.  We’ve been speculating for the past few months, and now we know for sure!  Rachel tweeted that she and hubby Rodger are “beyond excited.”  Congrats!!  I bet this baby will have the most fantastic outfits and beat out Suri for best dressed kid.

3. Teen Mom, Amber Portwood, has been charged with two counts of felony and a misdemeanor for domestic violence against baby daddy, Gary Shirley.  Amber has responded saying the reports are false and without proof that Leah was there, she can’t be charged for a felony.  MTV has handed over all footage to the authorities in cooperation.  If convicted, Amber faces a $10,000 fine and up to three years in jail.

4. Famous Hollywood publicist, Ronni Chasen, was murdered this week. This is such a strange and sad incident, and investigators are baffled.  Ronni was driving home after attending the “Burlesque” premiere and was shot in the chest five times before crashing into a pole.  She was brought to Cedars-Sinai where she was pronounced dead.  So sad, our thoughts are with her family and friends.

5. Former American Idol, Chris Daughtry and his wife Deanna had twins!  The couple had fraternal twins, Adalynn Rose and Noah James, through a surrogate.  Congrats, you two! Deanna already has a 13-year-old and 11-year-old from a previous marriage.

1. Mischa Barton has a reality show?  Sadly, this is true.  The starlet wants to be portrayed in a more positive light, so what better way to do that than to have your own show. Sigh. We just want to remember her as Marissa Cooper.

2. Toy Story 3 is gunning for Best Picture at the Academy Awards!  While there’s a separate category for animated pictures, the Pixar team figures, why not? No animated film has ever won for Best Picture, but it looks like Toy Story 3 definitely has a shot.

3. Paranormal Activity 3 is coming next Halloween.  No! Stop it, we don’t need anymore of these scary movies. More Pixar, please!

4. Get excited: Flava Flav is launching is own lines of flavored vodka and fried chicken! Yeah boii!!!

Whatever age you are, wherever you are in your life, hearing that your parents are getting divorced kinda rocks your world (not in a good way). I felt like my family was breaking. What’s worse is that I had no idea it was coming. I lived on campus at my school, which was a six-hour drive from my home. I talked to my parents often on the phone, but the kind of things that hint at divorce don’t really get translated during a bi-weekly chat. It was almost as if I was six-years-old again; too young to understand the situation, excluded from all the arguments.

The day I found out was one of the rare occasions when my mom and my sister came to visit me at school. They were there to pick me up and take me on a road trip to my Aunt’s house, just one hour away. I finished my classes, packed my bag, and watched movies with my friend until they arrived. I didn’t immediately know anything was wrong until I got in the car. The mood was tense, false…what was supposed to be a relaxing family weekend already felt uncomfortable and forced. Soon it was out – my parents were getting divorced.

I felt attacked. I felt like it was my fault. Why didn’t I see it coming? Most overwhelmingly, I felt helpless. There was nothing I could do – I didn’t live at home anymore and I didn’t even know the entire situation. My mom and dad could have been fighting for months and I wouldn’t have known. I felt like my entire family had been hiding this from me and I resented them all. As childish as that sounds, the feeling persisted for several months. I stopped calling home as frequently and my relationship with my mom in particular (who initiated the divorce) deteriorated to the point where I no longer shared anything with her. I was quietly furious and, since I had no way to vent my frustrations (either physically or verbally), my attitude kept getting worse.

After a while, I got tired of being angry. I saw how futile it was for me to be upset about something I couldn’t have prevented or even really guessed at. Maybe I was growing up or maybe through my own experiences, I realized that relationships sometimes just don’t work out. My parents live separately now and my mom has remarried. My sense of “home” has changed radically – I now call my grandparents’ house home and spend most of my holidays there.

Other than that, I can’t feel any big differences. I still live away from home (in fact, now I live farther away than ever) and I talk to each of my parents as often as possible. I guess if I don’t really think about it, things are the same as ever. The love is still there. My family somehow seems closer than ever because of our shared experience.

The big question is:  did my parent’s divorce overshadow the golden memories of my college years? Of course not. Home life and college life operate on two separate planes (at least for me) and nothing could make my time at university anything other than what it was:  pure awesomeness.

I’ve had a variation on this conversation for the past year. Obviously, not always with the dress, but somehow, my dad’s impending wedding seems to come up in casual conversation once in awhile, leading things to be awkward. I get the occasional sympathy, the gloss over, the interrogation and even the shared personal stories of divorce and remarriage. Yes, my dad is getting remarried. To wife #3. I am a product of wife #2, aka my mother, the saint, and wife #1 was short-lived and a complete unknown to me.

I dealt with my parents’ divorce throughout senior year of high school and tried to handle it the best I could. Now I need to deal with my dad walking down the aisle. A woman who happens to be his former assistant, twenty years his junior and “close family friend” while my parents were married. Though both my parents claim she is not the cause of the divorce, and I of course believe them, some actions lead me to believe that it did not help. I don’t believe she is the cause of the divorce, and many issues can impede a successful marriage

But does that mean I’m not allowed to be pissed off, sad and anxious?

Raised Catholic, I began to question my faith throughout the tumultuous fighting. I questioned it further once the divorce finalized. My faith in the church was completely destroyed when my dad pulled off an anulment to my mother and his 19-year marriage. To see my dad walk down the aisle of a Catholic Church for the third time will bury the ashes. Adding insult to injury, I was asked to do a reading at the wedding. I politely declined.

I have tried my best to retain my anger and sadness for the sake of those around me and my own health. I keep very busy and have an extremely loyal, loving boyfriend and friends. I have managed a mostly healthy relationship with my father and soon-to-be step mother. I will never respect or trust either of them, but I will always love my dad. My mother is one of the most graceful, phenomenal people in the universe and could not have handled the entire situation with more class and optimism. My heart breaks with guilt when I complain to her. I feel conflicted with my loyalty to her and my love for both my parents.

And I still don’t have a stinking dress to wear.
