As much as I dislike Miley Cyrus and all her bimbo-ish ways (like when she said she’s never listened to Jay-Z but he’s mentioned in her hit, “Party in the U.S.A”), this girl really speaks her mind and sometimes, she’s spot on. Like her recent comments on the painstakingly obvious double standard that young, female entertainers have to live up to in the entertainment industry.

Lately, Miley’s received a lot of flack for her onstage antics, from her revealing bondage-like costumes to her pseudo-lesbian kiss. Although, yes, she’s only 17-years-old and is still part of the controlling Disney family which has dictated her persona and image in the past, I think all the controversy surrounding Miley is unwarranted and, most of all, a double standard in an industry that expects their male pop stars to be lusted after (i.e. The Jonas Brothers) while the females remain prim and proper.

I agree with critics who comment that Miley should be a role model for the young girls who have looked up to her since her Hannah Montana days, but to be honest, what Miley is doing now is no different than what other male pop stars have done in the past. Many of them are provocative, crude and most of all, they speak their mind. What makes Miley so different from this other group is the fact she has boobs and a nice body, which automatically puts her in the “slut” category. Because she decides to dress and act to her own liking, people are getting all riled up because she’s no longer the doe-eyed, naive girl she once was.

What’s more, it frustrates me to no end to think about all the young male celebrities out there who have naked pictures of themselves on the internet or are caught doing doing drugs, but the public rarely scolds them for their mishaps. Why? Because guys don’t get the controversy.

Think: can you think of any male pop stars who have been scrutinized as much as Britney or Miley? It’s almost as if people expect these men to do these things and when it all actually happens, everyone excuses them for it. Not convinced? I can think of one perfect example: Chace Crawford and his recent drug arrest. Chace has always been the golden boy from the South whom everyone adored because of his pretty face and nice demeanor. And when he got arrested for possessing an untouched blunt in his car, what happened? Nothing. Yes, he was booked by the police and TMZ published his mugshot, but other than that, no one actually said anything about Chace’s arrest. If this were to happen to any female personality or actress, the aftermath would’ve been astounding and probably detrimental to their careers.

I’ve never liked Miley and always thought she was another Disney mannequin, but I respect her for stating something about the industry that has been so true for so long. For all the scrutiny and bad press they receive from not only the media but also faithful watchdogs (like us), it’s refreshing to see a female pop star take a stance on something as important as this.

You go Miley.

A few weeks ago I was set up with a boy. We chatted for a bit, made some small talk.

A few weeks ago I was set up with a boy. We chatted for a bit, made some small talk. He was sarcastically funny and he was tall, and in my book, those two things will warrant a first date. (Let’s face it – Jewish boys are usually not tall, and even less so if you buzz down that J- fro.)

So he got my number and told me he would call.
He waited 3 days.
Annoying, but expected.

I was at work when TFB (Tall Funny Boy) called. And being the world’s worst phone person that I am, I didn’t call him back right away. Work got crazy and before I knew it two days had passed and I still had not called the boy back. Rude? A bit. But also a total honest mistake. I made a mental note to call him that night and carried on with my day.

But here’s the kicker: as I was leaving work, I noticed a missed call on my phone and a voicemail message in my inbox.

“Hey it’s ****. Just calling again to see what’s up. Give me a call when you get a chance.”

And then, before I even had the chance to park my car and head back into my house, he called me AGAIN.

I know, I know – I should’ve been overjoyed. I can’t count on all my fingers, toes and every other extremity how many times a guy has told me he’d call and then didn’t. Which my friends reminded me as I shared my annoyance with them.

“He must just like you.” (Well, duh.)
“He is just interested – he’s pursuing you, that is so flattering.”
“Can you pass the Oreos?… Thanks….Oh yeah. He’s totally diggin’ you.”
“Haven’t you read that book He’s Just Not That Into You? Clearly this guy is, so what’s the problem?”

And so it went. And even though I was in a perpetual eye-roll for the duration of that conversation, it did get me thinking. Maybe I should be flattered. Maybe I’m just not used to being pursued and this actually is a good thing. Maybe I should get over the creepy factor (I know he wasn’t stalking me, but it was a little much) and call him back.

But then other thoughts flooded my mind. Namely, the fact that this situation is just totally unfair.

If I had gone out with this guy and if I been the one to call him twice in a row without hearing back, do you think his friends would be passing him the bag of Oreos and saying, “that is so flattering?”

HELL NO. Even if you replaced “bag of Oreos” with “cans of Natty Light.” Unless his guy friends like to dance around in tutus and tiaras. And even then, his friends and said guy would still think I was bat sh*t crazy with major issues. Words that would probably come up in that convo: neurotic, clingy, crazy bitch, RUN. RUN NOW.

So why is it that I’m supposed to start swooning over how much this guy must like me and want to take me out when, if the tables were turned, the guy would probably never return my calls, unfriend me from Facebook and enter witness protection? Just because I’m a girl I’m supposed to go along with it? I’m not allowed to be turned off, too?

It’s double standards like these that irk me to my very core and sometimes make me hate being a girl. Why does it seem like guys get handed all the control in the relationship and we’re just sorta along for the ride? Why do we consistently give them a free pass to do the things we’ve been taught are major do nots? Do we set our standards too low, or are guys setting them way too high?

I just need to know: am I the only one feeling this way, or is this yet another dating double standard we just have to deal with?

I decided to take a different approach to this weekend’s Saturday Read. Usually, I try to recommend my readers a great book. But this week, I’m looking to use a book to make a point.

“I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” is a controversial memoir by Tucker Max. If you read this website as religiously as I do, you know all about our feelings on this guy. If you are a newcomer and or live under a rock somewhere and have never heard of Max, here is his life:

Average guy.
Started a website.
Sleeps with women.
Posts his stories about the horrible things he does to said women.
Published this book and then turned it into a movie.
Guys laugh. Girls laugh.

Now, let me just say this as my disclaimer: I DO NOT AGREE WITH TUCKER MAX. I don’t think that any of the things that he does to women are right and, if they happened to me, I’m sure I would have some psychological damage. However, I have a hard time believing the truth in all of his stories (as 10% of a biography or memoir can be embellished). If you’ve read the book, you know the ridiculous things I’m talking about. And, yes, assuming that his stories are somehow exaggerated does make me feel a bit less guilty while laughing at them.

But, my point…

This book got me thinking (something I’m sure wasn’t on Max’s list of goals when writing it). In these stories Tucker does not force a woman to do any of the things they do; he simply suggests it. Obviously, some of these acts only happen because the women are beyond smashed, but really, I think Tucker inadvertently brings up a great point: why do we let men make fools of us?

The women Tucker writes about are so completely and utterly desperate that they will do WHATEVER he says. Example: After sleeping with an overweight girl, Tucker forces her to jump out of his apartment window. Yes, horrific. Beyond horrific. But THAT WOMAN AGREED. What would have happened if she had simply said, No? Probably nothing. She would have walked out the front door, Tucker’s roommates may have teased him, and I know for sure that story wouldn’t have made it into “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.”

Oh yeah – and this woman may still have a shred of dignity.

Because woman after woman has let Tucker get away with this stuff, he tries it on all of them. I’m sure there are some girls out there who have stood up and said no to this guy. But we don’t know about those women because their stories are never told. If all women that Tucker encountered said no, then he would have no career. He makes money off of women who have some crazy self-esteem issues so when a guy like Max comes around who shows ANY interest in them and he says “Jump!” they respond, “Out of that window?”

While Max’s book was meant to entertain (and entertain it did!), there is something to learn here. Stick up for yourself! Don’t put up with an abusive man (yes, verbal abuse and humiliation are still abuse). If a man tries to pull a Tucker Max, tell him where to shove it instead. You teach people how to teach you; respect yourself, know your self-worth and I promise you, you will end up with a partner who treats you like a princess.

So, I would like to thank Tucker Max for “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” and for teaching us all a lesson about respecting ourselves. Hell, it may even be worth picking up a copy and arming yourself against the kind of scummy guys in this world. But, just know that all men are not jerks and a good one will NEVER be ashamed of you.

My opinion of Tucker Max is complex. While I can’t say I agree with his choice of lifestyle, I did read his book, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, recommended it to others and have it listed as one of my favorite books on Facebook. To be honest, I thought it was hysterical and could see myself writing a similar book. If one more person says I should be “the female Tucker Max,” I’m going to have to start rethinking my life choices.

But after I have seen writers on CollegeCandy post in a Tucker Max-esque fashion and get bashed for it, I have been turned me off to the idea of writing my own book altogether. And the comments on CollegeCandy’s recent post on Tucker Max only added fuel to the flame, as readers uncharacteristically turned the other cheek to his antics. The writer’s opinion was that Max and his antics are misogynistic and simply not funny. But the majority of the comments on the post begged to differ.

“I read every single story on the Tucker Max website about 4 years ago…and they were hilarious to me. And I’m a girl with self-respect who would never want to be someone featured in a story like that, but I don’t feel bad for those women. It was their decision to sleep with him and he happened to get some great stories out of it. I understand that a lot of people don’t appreciate smut humor..but obviously a lot of people do (including A LOT of girls considering that at least half his fan base consists of them).”

“He’s funny because he’s ridiculous. Though you can’t believe all he writes because I’m pretty sure some stories are made up/exaggerated, no one actually lives that kind of life.”

“fat girls ARE NOT real people”

It’s funny that people are so quick to praise Max for his shenanigans, but when other writers on CollegeCandy write similar stories from their own life experiences, comments such as “wow, you’re mother must be proud” litter the cornucopia of holier-than-thou responses. I, myself, have written articles anonymously for CollegeCandy because I know the comments I will receive will be derogatory, no matter how well written, ridiculous and humorous the story may be.

So for people to be so supportive of Max and his quest to document his sexual plight and yet bash other writers for exactly the same content on CollegeCandy is one of the hypocrisies of life that I will despise until my dying day.

If Tucker Max can write about the time a girl vomited on his dick while his buddy videotaped it from inside a closet and we can all laugh and pat him on the back, then why don’t we all ease up a bit when it comes to comical and usually sarcastic posts written on CollegeCandy. My mom may not be proud of me, but that’s not for you to judge.

I really can’t give MTV’s new series “College Life” enough praise. I’m not a huge fan of the whole reality thing, but since the show is shot by the students themselves it really puts a good spin on a tired genre.

Every episode is chock-full of the real life drama of being an actual freshman at one of America’s largest party schools – the University of Wisconsin. Check out for yourself, you can watch all the episodes online in full here.

We caught up with the star’s of the show Josh, Kevin, Jordan and Andrea and asked them a few questions about hooking-up, drinking, studying and if women can be considered pimps and men sluts. Oh, you know, the important things…

Question 1: How many dates before you consider hooking up?

Josh: “One”

Kevin: “One”

Jordan: “Zero. If it’s right it’s right.”

Andrea: “I believe in saving myself until marriage, so however many dates it takes to put a ring on my finger. However, I don’t think there is anything wrong with kissing on the first date – if you think he’s a guy and you are comfortable.”

Question 2: How many drinks are too many drinks?

Josh: “The one right before you get the spins”

Kevin: “I always say, one more will never kill you.”

Jordan: “Depends on the person. ”

Andrea: “I don’t drink! (crazy I know ) My own values put aside, I think that people who drink so much they feel sick the next day and can’t remember what they did is extremely annoying and dangerous to the life we are supposed to be cherishing.”

Question 3: How many days in a row do you party? How many days in a row do you study?

Josh: “Party=2 days in a row and study= 2 days in a row…Can’t do either too much gets old”

Kevin: “I like to combine the 2 and do it every night.”

Jordan: “Seven and seven”

Andrea: “I go out every Friday and Saturday (and sometimes Thursday ) Every other day of the week I try to get some quality studying time in. Being that I don’t drink, a lot of times I’ll stay out till 3 in the morning and then go study by the lake or at the library at 8 AM while everyone else is sleeping until 2 PM (that’s my favorite time to study because no one is around).”

Question 4: Can males be sluts? Can girls be pimps? Why?

Josh: “Males can be sluts but it’s called a man whore. You become a man whore when you hook up with more than one girl in a night or you hook up with different girls more than twice a week. Girls, I don’t think can be pimps it just doesn’t make sense to me.”

Kevin: “No and No. Society man, that’s just how it is.

Jordan: “I believe the correct term for a male slut is man-whore and a girl pimp is usually referred to as a suga mama. I’ve encountered both. They do exist.”

Andrea: “HELL YES! I think those are terms that describe someone’s actions – not their gender.”

Question 5: Do you think you will meet the person you will marry while in college?

Josh: “Yes, that’s where you are supposed to meet them.”

Kevin: “No”

Jordan: “To be honest I think I’ve already met the girl I’m going to marry. I’ve known her since I was five. I can’t tell you how we met because as long as I can remember I’ve known her. I think there’s a special connection between childhood friends that can’t be recreated.”

Andrea: “I don’t know…to be honest I’m not one of those girls that go to college to meet the person they are going to marry. I don’t want to get married until I have established my career and traveled the world, so I don’t have time to settle down and be serious right out of college. I hope to be married by about 28 or 29, so that leaves me a lot of time coming out of college to meet Mr. Right! ”

Question 6: How old do you want to be when you get married?

Josh: “I would say I could get married at any age if I felt it’s right, but definitely around 24 is when i want to get married”

Kevin: “Old as hell.”

Jordan: “Oh, I don’t know. Originally I would’ve said late twenties but I’m currently smitten. I don’t really see the use in playing the field right now.”

Andrea: “Oops I already answered that in the last one. ”

I Love You, Man was funny (duh). It made me laugh till I peed a little and also reaffirmed my love for Jason Segel. Any man who can make fun of man Uggs but still pull them off gets bumped up on my list. For real. (P.S. Jason, I’m a NJG (Nice Jewish Girl); call me. My mom makes a mean matzo ball soup. True story.)

But anyways, I digress. More than Paul Rudd’s perfect delivery of awkwardness, my major crush on Jason Segel, and the screenplay stealing words right out own personal daily vernacular (hellllllo, I’ve been saying Totes Magotes since I came out of the womb… not that I am proud of it), there was actually something thought provoking about this movie (and, no, I’m not talking about the genius that was the random made up words… Jobin? Hilarious).

What I realized was that this movie would NEVER fly if the tables were turned.

Why is it that a man can be a ‘girlfriend’ guy without ANY friends of his own and not only is it so acceptable that we can turn it into a movie that makes you pee in your pants, but also leaves women everywhere thinking, “Aw, how cute, I wish I had a fiancé JUST like Paul Rudd”? Fact is, if it was about some chick who just always happened to be a ‘boyfriend’ girl with no girlfriends or a maid of honor, guys would say she’s batsh*t insane and girls wouldn’t feel sorry for her. We would go around saying she pushed us all away and alienated herself by being so clingy with her boyfriend that she even chose to see the SATC movie with him over us. Ruuude.

We’ve talked about it right here on this very site:
Single Girl has tons of friends.
Girl gets boyfriend.
Girl and boyfriend spend every minute together, start dressing alike and talking to each other in puppy love speak (vomit).
Boy learn what Manolo’s are.
Girl no longer has any friends.
Girl gets engaged and no one feels sorry that she has no friends left.

So why is it with a dude it all of a sudden becomes a perfect topic for funnyman fodder? I’ve seen the real man version of Paul Rudd’s character and it really isn’t that funny or sweet; it’s actually sort of pathetic. But in this case I’m supposed to root for him and feel sorry for him and believe that he can make a guy best friend in like 2 hours who thinks he is a super cool at not at all awkward dude? Come on.

Don’t get me wrong – I peed my pants and aw’ed my way through this entire movie (and really, really fell in love with Mr. Segel-Ugg-man) but I did sorta feel like a hypocrite while I did so.

If this movie was about your ex-best friend, who is now your ex-BFF because she gave up her weekly mani-pedi session with you to cuddle with her boy, you wouldn’t be lining up to see the flick and readily quoting one-liners from it on your Facebook status as we speak. You’d be talking sh*t about her to your other friends and venting to anyone who will listen that you would never ditch your friends for a dude.

You know I’m right.
Totes magotes.

Want to know what guys think? We can show you. Last week we discussed the issue of paying on the first date.

Want to know what guys think? We can show you. Last week we discussed the issue of paying on the first date. This week we tackle a more touchy (pun intended) topic: getting it on. What does it mean? What do guys think of a lady who is willin’ to romp on the first night?

He Said:

If you put out on the first date, it doesn’t necessarily mean guys think you’re a slut, easy or not worthy of respect. But it all depends on the how well we vibe beforehand.

Sometimes, you meet someone, instantly hit it off, and the sex just flows naturally. Stopping in the middle of a good thing because of some puritan idea that hitting the sheets on the first date is always wrong can be as detrimental to the evolution of a good relationship as moving too quickly.

But good things are rare, so the whole dating debacle usually plays out as a charade to prove ourselves worthy of your womanly wiles. Most of the time, if we are taking you on a date, we definitely want to have sex with you—otherwise, we’d just be at home, drinking beer and playing Grand Theft Auto, not spending inordinate amounts of cash on a stranger, laughing at your “jokes,” and complimenting you profusely on shoes and a handbag that we don’t give a flying crap about.

So if at the end of the first night, you’re ready to for a sexy rumble, most guys will take you up on it, regardless of how the date goes. But if we don’t feel like we hit it off well enough to justify your stripping down, chances are we’ll take it for what it is: Just sex. As long as we both recognize that fact, it’s all good.

But if it is just sex, make sure to not treat it as more than that. There’s nothing wrong with adults enjoying each other however they want, but if you start thinking a post-coital embrace after the first time is evidence that we want to meet your mom, you’ve got another thing coming—loneliness.

Really, if you just have respect for yourself, and don’t do more than you’re comfortable with, we’ll have respect for you, too. That means if we hit it off, and just can’t wait for things to get more intimate, go for it. And if you want to just get laid, that’s ok–so do we. But planning our life together simply because we got it on is not.

She Said:

I am not one to sleep around (a lot), but there are some nights where I meet a guy and just can’t control my desire to tear off my clothes and hop on. This, of course, comes after we talk at the bar and I really do sort of “fall” for the guy. Does that make it any better? No. But at least I kinda know (his name, his school, his hometown) who I’m crawling into bed with later.

Most of the time, these situations don’t pan out into anything more than an awkward morning after encounter. Many people tell me its because guys don’t want to be with a girl that sleeps with them on the first night (because it means she does that all the time), but I really don’t know if that’s true. It takes two to tango, you know, and it’s not like I’m sleeping alone.

And to be honest, if I wasn’t going to sleep with that dude, do you really think he would call me again? Probably not. The minute I played it coy and left him wanting more, he would find more…in another girl at the bar.

It’s a lose/lose for the girls.

I am sick of guys getting to play both sides. I am sick of being viewed as “non relationship material” because I hit it off with a guy and then did what we both clearly wanted to do. Yes, I went home with you, but that doesn’t mean I do this with everyone or that I can’t possibly be a good girlfriend.

Some girls lose their virginities to their first loves: some taller, older, handsome man (er, boy) who says I love you and kisses her neck and asks, “Baby, does this hurt?”

Other girls get drunk in basements off Jack Daniels when they’re 14, take off their shirts and find themselves straddling some younger boy on a bed in the corner of some dirty room, only to discover they are being watched by several on-lookers when they receive a swift slap on the ass.

…Or something to that effect.

Perhaps my first sexual experience has tainted my view of sexuality. I mean, how could it not? I guess some girls really do get the whole rose-petals-on-the-bed thing, but not every girl, and I’m here to tell the story of the ones who don’t.

As I’ve gotten older, I have started to respect my body a lot more than I did when I was younger. I think that the younger you are when you start having sex – the crazier, sluttier and down right dirtier things you do. If you start having sex later, you actually understand it – and your body’s responses to it – and everything makes a lot more sense.

In high school, sex was sex. I did it to say that I did, not because I particularly enjoyed it or even wanted it. This never really got me anywhere, except stuck in the sheets with senior boys who only wanted me naked, and didn’t really give a sh*t about anything that came out of my somewhat bitchy, bratty 16-year-old mouth.

Now, however, my views have slightly changed. My basic ideas about sex are as follows:

1.	Monogamy is not natural. And kinda boring. I was in a relationship for 5 years, so I know how it is to be with only one person. It was amazing to be with someone I loved, but my thoughts (and his, I’m sure) about having sex with other people didn’t magically disappear when we were together. Of course, I was able to suppress my urges to ravage everyone from my math teacher to his best friend, but it didn’t make me want it from those guys any less. I think it’s human nature to desire more than one “mate”, if we’re getting scientific here. If monogamy is not your thing, then it’s not. You just have to find someone who makes you kinda forget those other people exist (love will do that to ya).

2.	You love who you love. Male or female. Let’s just say that I think it’s perfectly normal to be attracted to members of the same sex. I don’t think that sexuality is as easy as “straight” or “gay”. I think that you can fall in love with – and be sexually attracted to – pretty much anyone. Love is such a subjective thing and I feel that it’s different for everybody. It can’t be defined by which body part someone hides in their panties and/or boxer briefs.

3.	Love and sex can co-exist, but they don’t have to. A girl I really don’t like once said, “I’d rather have good sex than good love at this point in my life.” As much as I dislike her, this was the only semi-intelligent thing I ever heard her say. I understand that completely – sometimes, sex is what you want. Sometimes, love is what you want. Sometimes – if you’re lucky – you get them both. But most of the time, you’re lacking in one area or the other and left to use your Rabbit while you stay at home on cold, lonely Friday nights.

And sometimes you’re on the opposite end of the spectrum – lying next to a boy you love who just can’t seem to please you the way your Rabbit can. Such is life. So if what you want and need right now is sex, I don’t think you should be made ashamed to go after it. And if you’re feelin’ a relationship or don’t want to hook up with randoms? Then you shouldn’t feel ashamed to be “that girl”, either. My ex-boyfriend probably had a large influence on my thinking this way – as he thinks it’s completely okay to engage in sexual acts with multiple partners without feeling a damn thing for any of them – but what can I say? He kinda makes sense.

4.	There will probably always be a double standard. I would love to deem myself a feminist, but then I’d feel like a horrible one for saying this: I just don’t think the double standard about sexuality will ever go away. Unless the stereotypes about women go away – like that they’re supposed to be beautiful, innocent, sexy and virginal all at the same time – I don’t think that the idea that men having lots of random sex = awesome and girls having lots of sex = slutty, will ever truly go away. I’ve even called girls “sluts” for doing stuff like participating in obscene public displays of affection in corners at parties and/or sleeping with a guy they just met. I guess that I do think that girls can control their urges and that guys should be the only ones out gallivanting – at least when it comes to girls other than myself, of course. And that’s probably how every other girl thinks, too.

5.	Our culture is so over-sexed that it has kinda lost its meaning. I think that once upon a time, I would have never written a story like this. I wouldn’t have been able to. Sex was taboo – it was hush-hush and it was definitely not something you would discuss openly in a public forum like this. Although I think it’s interesting and exciting – it also goes to show that our society doesn’t place as much value on sex (or anything related to relationships, love, hell…even marriage!), or take it as seriously as in the past. I would love to say that I think one day chivalry and the whole “courting process” will come back – but I can’t promise that.

So basically, after re-reading this, I guess I’m a little conflicted about sex in this day and age, which I’m sure many of you are, too. We’re living in a time where sex is on the fore-front and it seems that everybody is having it and having it often – and then talking about it (or releasing videos of it!). Sex is natural: it’s beautiful and confusing and full of complication.

So, as much as I’d die for some kind of (what did I call it?) oh yeah…rose-petals-on-the-bed sorta thing, I’m not going to count on it. At least not for awhile (you know, until the guys around me are more worried about their stock portfolios than their stock of pornography, but such is life).

I’m sure there a lot of people out there who will disagree (perhaps strongly) with everything I wrote.

But this is me. And this is life.

A couple months ago, we featured the creepiness that is Dov Charney, the owner of American Apparel.

Sure, the man looks like a serial killer and admits to getting it on with, like, every one of his employees, but he sure knows how to sell a product!

We’ve all seen the ads – the racy, half-naked and scantily clad models (think the HOT Abercrombie & Fitch ads meets younger-looking hipsters). There’s something raw about these ads, almost dirty – and that’s exactly what is getting younger-looking hipsters to buy into the brand.

According to AMNY, one of the store managers said, “This is the Lower East Side….I would be disappointed in the neighborhood if it was offended by this. It’s not pornographic. This is art.”

The catch?

“The American Apparel ad may be in violation of state penal code section 245, which makes the “public display of offensive sexual material” punishable by up to a year in jail. Yet the penal code only applies if the display “appeals to prurient interest in sex,” a murky legal definition that is very hard to prove in court,” says AMNY.

So, is it tasteless sex or is it art?

I say it’s neither. It’s good advertisement, plain and simple. It goes along with what they’ve been trying to do all along, and I’m not surprised. So what if it pushes the envelope? This country is already ridiculous when it comes to the “Sex Sells” motto! True, anyone looking at these videos is gonna think SEX immediately – especially American Apparel’s college-aged target. But everything makes us think sex. The bananas in the dining hall make us think sex. Why not enjoy some harmless porn-like advertising on your way to class? That is, if you’re lucky enough to live in NYC.

But then the double standard kicks in, which makes me mad. They can show boobs in their windows but no man junk? What gives? I guess that, in the end, this proves that boobs are no big deal anyway. These ads will only create more buzz for the brand.

Boobs sell. No big deal. We all got ‘em.
