As you may remember in May, I decided I need a change of pace and new scenery after graduation, which lead me to the Golden Coast of California. While so many good things happened for me out there (especially in the midst of LSAT prep), it wasn’t what I was looking for. In fact, a lot more was pushed upon my plate than I ever intended or imagined.

While a lot of people in my day-to-day life think I’m crazy for the flip-flop, and many people think “Why would you move away from being so close to LA to go back to the Southeast?” I have to do what is best for me – like any post-grad, college student, or human being should. When I tell people that I’m moving back, they immediately think “It didn’t work out for her” or “It was too hard.” And then some think this was just some minor decision I’ve made without any consideration at all.

Surprise! It’s not. There’s always more to the story.

Just as most post-grads do, we dream up our lives after college. And then if those dreams and ideal images don’t fit into the picture perfect box of hopeful life-after-college expectations, we do what we can to alter them. While I have done everything I can do to keep up with my dreams and expectations, I’ve had a lot of other stuff I never asked for fall onto my plate. See, I moved in with my dad – who is an alcoholic. And with that came tons of things I wasn’t prepared to handle. Every day it seemed like something new would happen or some kind of drama would ensue. Every day I find myself worried about what could happen. And I’ve had enough.

We live in an age of Intervention, Lindsay Lohan’s rehab stints, and constant talk about addictions. It’s life – seriously, who doesn’t know someone who is struggling or once struggled with an addiction? But like anyone who has ever loved someone with an addiction or some kind of life-altering problem, it’s not easy trek – and I’m done. I’m 22, and as much as I want to fix and help my dad, I can’t.

So with the New Year to look towards, I think it’s time for me to put my best shoes on and hit the road once again to see what else is in store for me (especially once those damn LSAT scores come out – yes, I’m still waiting)!

I like sex.

Okay, I love sex. I prefer to have it multiple times a day. And maybe I enjoy blowjobs more than the average girl (giving 6 a day on a weekend is normal, right?). I’ve had sex in some pretty ridiculous places. Roofs. Cars. Stairwells. I think dressing up and dirty talk are super fun and healthy activities. I kind of get mad if I don’t get it every night. And when I masturbate I can’t stop at just one orgasm (and, trust me, can go upwards of twenty). I unabashedly love porn. I have vibrators and I’m not afraid to use them. The only claim to sexual “shame” I’ve got is that I’ve never had an orgasm from penetration only – but I guess that’s a common thing.

But does that mean I have an addiction?

I don’t, won’t and never have had multiple partners at once. I’m able to get my work done without being distracted by sex. Of course there are times when I allow myself to wander onto porn when I should be studying, but I would never, ever do that at my job or skip important obligations to do so. I am not hooking up with random guys or guys that I’m not fully committed to. I’m not having dangerous, violent, unsafe or illegal sex. I just really, really, really REALLY like it.

But how much is too much?

I’ve always been very sexually charged in relationships (and again, very safe and exclusive) and even more so on my own. I can still remember my first orgasm like it was yesterday and how I repeated that feeling over and over every day when I was “showering” from age twelve on. I think it got even crazier with my first serious boyfriend in college. I’d had boyfriends but never got intimate with them and then I started mixing alcohol with romance. Once I was able to lubricate (ha ha?) my mind, I started to experiment more. And more. And finally, once I was 100% confident with myself in the bedroom, got even more experimental sans booze. I became uninhibited and wanted to try new things all the time. And my guy at the time was totally comfortable with it, to the point that it made our necessary break-up almost impossible, majorly due to the fantastic sex.

Now, I’ve moved onto a different (again, serious, exclusive) relationship…. with a man who is totally shocked by my behavior in bed. Like, to the point where he’s brought up addiction more than once.

To say it terrified me is akin to saying I sorta like gettin’ it on.  Read: major understatement.
It made me question my sexual side, my desires, my fantasies.

Am I addicted or just super overly sexual?
Is there a difference?

With all these celebs checking into sex rehab and even Doctor Drew creating a show to cure it, it has me wondering and even a little scared if I really do have an addiction. It must be bad if a rehab exists for it, right? And I’m sure I’ve got the symptoms, like when my boyfriend doesn’t want to sleep with me after an exhausting, grueling day and I get mad. Not just irritated, full-blown silent-treatment, crazy girl angry.

The media (and Tiger Woods) tells us that guys are the sex-obsessed ones. Am I an exception to the rule? Am I a “slut” because I indulge in self-pleasure and sexual intimacy with men I’m in love with? Should I change who I am or is there even a problem?

What’s black and white and red all over?  Lindsay Lohan in her jail stripes, of course!  While, no, she’s not getting hauled off to the clinker (yet), she has been handed a court-ordered sentence.  So what’s LiLo’s punishment for evading justice and being a general menace to society?  And more importantly, what does this all mean for regular tabloid coverage of Linsanity and the future of her Hot Mess Reputation?

First, the facts:  Linds has to submit to random weekly drug tests (boring), attend alcohol meetings (boring-er), appear in court again (not going to happen), give up booze (really not going to happen), and wear one of those SCRAM ankle bracelets (she’s been there, done that).  Do I think she’s going to adhere to this “punishment”?  At first, yes.  Then after a half-assed grace period – say two days – she’ll be back to her coke addled self.  Thank God.

Don’t get me wrong; I want to help Lindsay.  I do, really.  But instead of focusing on there here-and-now, I have her career in mind.  And nothing, not even miraculously getting cast in a Scorcese flick (or selling out of her over-priced leggings) could be better for Lilo’s career than her most recent court proceedings.  She’s hit rock bottom.  Her good name is no longer.  The Parent Trap was years ago.  Jane Fonda blacklisted her, and when Jane publicly hates on you, you really know you’re screwed.  While the journey back to star-status won’t come quickly or easily, it’s totally, 100% possible.

Thanks to reality TV.

The film industry won’t touch Linds with a ten foot pole for a good while after this fiasco.  She has a reputation as a high-maintenance, never-there diva.  While this would throw a wrench in any respectable producer’s schedule, reality television would relish the opportunity to publicize every slurred sentence and drunken stumble.

That’s right.  Celebrity Rehab has helped countless lost souls regain their zest for “clean” living.  Dr. Drew is a beacon of hope for big names like Daniel Baldwin (who says he’s the lesser brother?), Dennis Rodman (who, I am proud to announce, is no longer wearing wedding dresses), and hopefully our little Lohan, too.

After rehab comes the weight gain.  We’ve seen it before (Kelly Osbourne, Mischa Barton) and our favorite ginger will be no exception to the rule.  Lindsay will consume mass amounts of Doritos, wearing cheese dust in place of cocaine residue.  Rum and diet cokes will be replaced with mass amounts of sugary orange soda.  Before hawking a new line of spandex, her managers will ask her to drop a few (dozen) pounds and whom do they turn to for help?  Celebrity Fit Club, of course!  She’ll kick box and cry her way to her once-svelte self while hording Oreos under her pillow.  It is in the Club that she’ll perfect her devious ways just in time to rebuild her media empire.

Drum roll, please.  Who better to restructure a failing business than Donald Trump himself?  He and Ms. Lohan will battle it out over self tanner catch phrases every week on Celebrity Apprentice.  Their chaotic relationship will be a beautiful mess, garnering the highest ratings the show has ever seen.

Do I even need to go on? To explain the next obvious step in Ms. Lohan’s comeback tour: Dancing With The Stars? I mean, just look at A.C. Slater, Kelly Osbourne and Buzz Aldrin now! In a few short months, that could be Lindsay dancing her way back into America’s hearts and movie theaters.

Sure, Perez Hilton some people see Lindsay’s new ankle bracelet as a nail in her professional coffin, but not us. We’re realists living in the 21st century. If Rachel Uchitel, Ashley Dupre and Heidi Montag can become household names, things have never been lookin’ better for Lindsay Lohan’s future.

Somehow in the past year it became common practice for famous husbands to cheat on their wives (multiple times) and drag them through an insane media circus culminating in a trip to rehab.

Tiger did it.
And now Jesse James is on his way, too.

Now, I can actually get behind rehab for sex addiction, but seriously?  These guys seem to have a very specific kind of problem: the I sleep with grimy pornstars instead of my super-hot wife who actually loves me disorder.  Right.  It seems that rehab has turned into a holding cell for generally douchy men and if that’s the case, what’s next?

Belligerent Drunk Therapy
For the guy who thinks he’s a WWE wrestler every time he drinks. He picks fights with the bouncer who makes him wait in line, with the guy who accidentally bumped into him while walking through the crowded bar, the random guy in the pink shirt (because “pink shirts are for pussies”). He puffs out his chest at anyone and everyone and can’t take a shot without throwing a punch. But don’t dump him, baby. He can go to rehab!

Bro Addiction Therapy
He’s all sweet and mushy when the two of you are alone, but get him with his friends and it’s like you don’t exist. Suddenly he’s a swaggering cocky bro who will do just about anything to impress his boys. Crush a beer can on his head? Duh. Hit on other girls at the bar? Why not? Stand you up for date night to play HALO with the boys for 7 hours? These are his boys, yo, get over it. This is nothing Dr. Drew can’t handle….

Slacker Rehab
Aw, he can’t help being a slacker!  There’s too much going on in the living room for him to leave it!  I mean, when the TV and the bong are in there, he’d rather go hungry than stand up to do anything.  He just sits there. all. day. long.  He barely takes care of himself, let alone do anything special for you. But he’s not a bad boyfriend, he just has an addiction. To slothiness. All he needs is 6 weeks in treatment, right?

Committment Phobia Therapy
Perhaps a nice spin around a couple of group sharing sessions will bring him to his senses.

Jealous Rage Rehab
He flexes his muscles at anyone who looks at you, constantly calls you when you’re out with the girls and has been going through your phone for months.  Which, mind you, he wouldn’t have to do if you stopped acting so suspiciously. Don’t kick him to the curb – just get him some help, Tiger-style.

Fact is we connect to others by learning about them. And everyone has something to share (even if it a story about an embarassing moment involving you, a banana and your mom). So to give you yet another reason to procrastinate, we started ‘The Five Questions We Ask Everyone’ (and five just for that one person) because we know whether we’re schmoozing with an A- list celeb or your local bartender, you’ll be equally entertained.

Drew Pinsky, better known as Dr. Drew, is the doctor of our generation. From answering outrageous sex questions on Loveline to discussing sex with students and their parents, Dr. Drew has really been our go-to for all things intimate. This man knows it all, which is why we decided to sit down with him to ask a few important questions. Oh, and some not-so-important ones.

5 Questions We Ask Everyone:

1. What is your most hysterical or ridiculous college memory, or the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Once I was part of a group of guys and we stapled a cartoon figure onto a giant clock tower clock, and turned it into a sort-of Mickey Mouse clock with a cartoon of the president of the college.  I think back to my friends hanging my other friend by his ankles from a clock tower and I’m scared to death about when my own kids go to college.

2. What are five things you can’t live without?

My wife and kids, my laptop (Macbook Pro), iPhone, coffee (lattes particularly), and my time to work out.

3. What’s your motto or the advice that you live by?

Make a difference.

4. What is your favorite song to belt out?

Well, I was a trained singer at one time in my life, and it’s going to sound bizarre, but the Prologue from Pagliacci.

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully doing the same thing I’m doing now.  I love what I do, and if I can keep doing it 10 years from now, I’ll be extra happy.  I really wouldn’t change a thing.  The only thing I would add to it is visiting my kids themselves doing what they want to do, wherever they are.

5 Questions Just for Dr. Drew:

1. Why do you think your show, Sex with Mom and Dad, is so important for kids to either be a part of or to watch?

For two reasons.  One, it really shines a bright light on how important it is to be open and honest, and avoid secrets in family systems.  And the other is to acknowledge more realistically how deeply embedded our sexuality is in our emotional lives.  And that’s something our culture just refuses to get its head around.

2. If you could give one piece of advice to college students right now in regards to love and sex, what do you think is the most important thing they should know?

I think they should really examine why it is that if “hooking up” is the cornerstone of their social life and such a fun thing, why do [they] always have to be intoxicated to do it?  Just examine that, because something that’s really cool and really fun and that you really like doing, you should be able to do sober, and people don’t.

3. Do you think there’s something wrong with the way that we’re dating now in college, and how sex always comes first. Do you think we should be worried about the way that we’re approaching sex?

I’m worried that you’re not dating on college campuses.  That’s the problem.  You’re hooking up with somebody you don’t even know with no expectations, and there’s no evaluative process.  How do you ever learn who you are in a relationship, or what you want in a relationship, unless you spend time relating?  And that’s been completely removed from the equation.

4. What do you think students should be most worried about right now in terms of this lifestyle?  Is it STDs, emotional problems?

Yeah, it’s really the emotional consequences.  To deny your emotions is not a healthy thing, and so “listen to your instincts,” is what I always tell college kids.  Let your instincts prevail; don’t do what you think you’re supposed to do, don’t necessarily  do what is arousing and fun—I mean, go ahead and do that, but also learn to listen to your instincts, they will not fail you.

5. With all the shows you’ve done – Loveline, Sex with Mom and Dad – you’ve interacted with a lot of people, especially on topics that are very taboo.  So what’s one of the weirdest or strangest or most outrageous things that you’ve ever come across in your time in the field?

You know, there’s no way for me to answer that question, because every night, there’s a new call, a new question that’s bizarre and makes me blush.

Well, that is all grand, but Adrienne’s got a new project in the works and it’s a biggie: she’s hosting MTV’s New Afternoons, a giant afternoon block of shows to keep you entertained between class and… primetime TV. You know, those few hours when you are too tired to work and too lazy to get up and order dinner…

5 Questions We Ask Everyone

1.  What is the most hysterical or ridiculous college memory that you have?

I have never been to college, but my sister’s fiancé just graduated from Duke Law this year.  I went and took a tour of the school, and I remember being on campus dressed from head to toe in Duke gear.  I had on a Duke jacket, hat, and pin.  I went to the store where you can buy everything and I totally OD’d and walked around campus like a Duke Christmas tree.  It was always my dream to go to college and maybe is something that I will do in the future, but I just think the whole idea of college campus life seems like so much fun.

2.  What are the five things that you can’t live without?

My phone, my laptop, my mom, chapstick, and an eyelash curler.  I also love perfume; I even carry it in my purse.

3.  What is your motto or advice that you live by?

The motto or advice that I live by is that nothing is impossible.  I  think that if you really set your heart into something and you really believe in yourself you can make anything happen.

4.  What is your favorite song to belt out? 

“Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.  It’s the one song that puts me in a good mood after I hear it.

5.  In ten years from now, where do you think you will be?

Hopefully in ten years I can be like Gloria Estefan and have both English and Spanish albums, as well as a family.  I admire Gloria Estefan because she is a family woman but at the same time has a career.

5 Questions Just For Adrienne

1.  What is it like growing up in the spotlight?

I feel like I had a really normal childhood and didn’t grow up in the spotlight.  I started doing 3LW when I was 16 and didn’t even start  doing the Cheetah Girls until I was 19.  I appreciate the fact that I  had a normal childhood, and by 16 I knew what was going on and I didn’t get jaded by the industry.  It was a lot better for me that I started later on in life, and I love that.

2.  Tell us about your new gig hosting New Afternoons?

I am thrilled about being the new host of New Afternoons on MTV.  I get to work in Times Square at the MTV Studios where TRL was (!), and it has been so much fun.  It’s a really cool show.  We get to host the entire afternoon where they play three shows, which are Parental Control,  Room Raiders and Sex… With Mom and Dad.  We also have celebrities that  stop by and hang out with us, watch the shows and promote their upcoming projects.

3.  Do you like the show Sex… With Mom and Dad?

It’s my favorite!  I think what I love so much about it is that it’s so taboo.  It’s something that I feel a lot of kids had wanted to do but have never gotten the opportunity to be open with their parents  about their experiences.  I’m also a huge fan of Dr. Drew.  I think it’s an educational show and is also really entertaining.

4.  Do you think that you will ever return to music?

Definitely! It is still my dream.

10.  What advice do you have for girls who want to break into the entertainment business?

Believe in yourself.  I think that if you believe in yourself, no one can stop you.  Confidence is also important.  Be a hard worker, and practice makes perfect.  The sky’s the limit.

The media has been buzzin’ about this relationship for-e-ver and no one knows quite what to believe. Especially a very opinionated CollegeCandy blogger who was sure this whole thing was a sham.

Well, according to the happy couple, it is not a sham, but that doesn’t mean everyone understands how this whole thing…works.
