I decided to go home for Easter weekend because most of my friends at school were dipping out to spend time with their families so I knew it would be a ghost town. My family doesn’t really celebrate Easter, but some of my friends from other schools mentioned they would be home as well. It’s always nice to see old friends. Well I got a text from one that said, “I want to do an adult Easter egg hunt. Somehow also made into a drinking game,” to which I replied, “Jello shots in plastic Easter eggs that we have to find!”

This isn’t the first time I’ve run into a let’s turn a holiday into a drinking game situation. We seem to create drinking games out of everything we can. I once played a Secret Life of the American Teenager drinking game, which didn’t end well for anyone. I love having a good time, and as a senior I seem to have reverted back to my freshman year habits of going out all.the.time and still making it to class. I’m having a lot of fun now because I know it won’t last when I have a real job and am too old to stay up past midnight.

My response to actually make an adult Easter egg hunt surprised me. I don’t want to turn a children’s game into a drinking game! It’s just not right. I remember playing a grown up version of Pretty Pretty Princess freshman year that we called Pretty Drunk Princess. You drank every time you got a piece of jewelry. It was a lot of fun, but it kind of ruined that part of my childhood. Why do we turn everything into a drinking game?

The classics like flip cup, beer pong, quarters, Circle of Death (or Captain Dickhead or Waterfall), etcetera seem to do just fine. Can’t we leave some things in innocence?

For those who know next to nothing about football or how it’s played, this is a great way to learn.

Here’s how it’s done:
Everyone split up into teams (Packers and Steelers are playing, for those who are aren’t in the know). Next, everyone pick a player on the offense that they’ll be representing. I totally call Aaron Rodgers! Yum. Basically, every time your player does something good you take a drink. Every time your player or team screws up, you drink more.

Drink assignments are as follows (and if you don’t know what these things are, ask the least judgmental person at the party to explain it. Or at the very least have that person tell you when to drink):

For the offense:
- Your player catches the ball: 1 swig.

- Your player runs the ball: 1 swig for every 10 yards.

- Your player throws a completion: 1 sip.

- Your team scores: 1 swig for every point
Note: That’s 6 swigs for a touchdown, 1 for a point after, 3 for a field goal, and 2 for a safety or a two-point conversion.

- Your player throws an incomplete: 3 swigs.

- Your player drops the ball: 4 swigs.

- Interception/fumble/sack: everyone on your team takes 6 swig-a-ligs.

For the defense:
- Sack the quarterback: whole team takes 3 swigs.

- Interception: Whole team 4 swigs.

Bonus (if you’re really bored/can handle it):
- Every time there’s a pick-up truck commercial: drink a beer.

- If said truck is towing heavy stuff up a steep cliff: shotgun that beer….with someone on your back.

- For every commercial that involves scantily clad women: sip some beer…with your shirt off.

- Every time someone screams, “Shhhh, I wanna hear the commercials!”: take 6 swigs (and shut up).

- For every commercial makes you LOL: stop drinking so you don’t choke on your beer, breathe, then take 5 sips.

- Every time the announcers mention a troubled past for a specific player: take 3 swigs, cry.

- Take one sip of beer for every crazy/painted/screaming fan they show up close and personal in the stadium. Take two if it’s an kid. Take three if it’s a really old person. Take four if it’s a really old person with no shirt on (because frankly, you’re gonna need it).

Enjoy the game, people! Gooooooooo team!!!

You are only a few hours away from a three day holiday weekend, ladies! Can I get a “what what”?! Memorial Day Weekend is the official kick-off to summer, which means only one thing: it’s time to get a bikini wax the inevitable family BBQ.

Truth: You love hot dogs off the grill.
Truth: Your family is ridiculous and you’d much rather spend the time with people who don’t make inappropriate jokes about hot dogs. Or at least people who make funny inappropriate jokes about hot dogs. And are under the age of 65.
Solution: CollegeCandy’s Memorial Day Family BBQ Drinking Game

Because Great Uncle Bert’s war stories (a war which he was not in) are easier to listen to when you’ve got Bud Light coursing through your veins. The best part? You can play alone and, being that you leave the BBQ with a killer buzz, you always end up the winner.

What you will need:
A case of domestic beer (we’re celebrating America, aren’t we?)
Various other alcoholic beverages
Your drinking hat

Let’s Play:
- Chug your first beer if you are the only single person there (over the age of 16)/chug your first beer if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, but they are playing this game at their own family BBQ

- Take a shot every time someone asks you if you are dating someone.

- Take another if they don’t at least feign surprise when you say you are not.

- Take a double shot every time someone asks what you’re studying and/or what you plan to do now that you’ve graduated.

- Mix and drink a screwdriver every time your mother nags about your lack of job or job prospects (“What are you going to do with a Communications degree!?”). You’re screwed in this market, anyway.

- Take a Kamikaze shot every time grandpa mentions his time in WW2.

- Pour one for our fallen heroes if anyone even mentions the real purpose of Memorial Day.

- Bring out the beer bong if someone starts talking about ‘Ole Dubya (George W. Bush), John McCain or the “glory days before Obama.”

- Take a drink every time someone says something that could be taken sexually and someone immature (i.e. you) giggles/responds with “that’s what she said.”

- Have a shot of whiskey every time your father/uncle/grandfather/brother almost burns off their eyebrows or arm hair with the grill.

- Take a sip every time your father/uncle/grandfather/brother talks about how he is the master of the grill and no one can grill up meat like him.

- Assign three drinks to anyone who says they are on a diet and only want salad.

- Put down your drink and start crying if someone comments on how much you are eating/how you should be on a diet.

- Polish off whatever is open and not finished if grandma/some other woman in your family leaves a big, wet lipstick print on your cheek when she says goodbye.

By the end of the night, your family should be bearable and your legs should feel like Jell-0. A Memorial Day BBQ victory!

[Everyone’s got a morning after story and we wanna hear yours! Send it over to us and we’ll post it – anonymously, of course – right here!]

Freshman year actually scares me. Like, for real. The things I did make me wonder how I ever survived it. And here is a story that will make you wonder the same thing. This particular tale takes place on a Wednesday. The day before a big Philosophy exam. And after attending a ball game with some close friends (and overdosing on hot dogs and cracker jacks).

I don’t know if it was the extravagant, vibrant atmosphere of a baseball game, but my close knit group of friends and I came back to our dorms and decided the sky was the limit for us. It was time to drink. And the drink of choice?

99 Berries.

I know, the story should maybe end right now. 99 Berries on a Wednesday sounds lethal. But in a freshman mindset, 99 and Strawberry Ocean Spray might be the most beautiful thing known to (fresh)man. Not to mention the cute boys accompanying us on our journey to Drunk-ville. It just seemed right.

Something else seemed right. On account of my Philosophy exam the next day, and my roommate’s Spanish exam, we thought it would be a brilliant idea to study while drinking. Side Note: Never try this at home.  It never works, and when you start playing drinking games based upon how many times you read the word “Aristotle,” count on getting nothing done.

Anyway, the way we were taking shots you would think we had sprung for Grey Goose. And thanks to the combo of our drinking game and my philosophy notes, Aristotle was getting us pretty messed up. Meanwhile, while being located in a upper classman’s basement, there was a convenient pole that influenced some erotic dancing and the next thing I knew, I was in the bathroom with my friend, blood pouring out of her hand. A pole dance gone awry.

The two words to describe these goings on: hot mess. They really sum up the remainder of this evening. The attempted act of studying was blurred out and replaced by taking the role of Jenna Jameson. Between four girls, the 99 Berries emptied. And the last couple minutes of the evening were spent making out with one of my friends…after he had shoved his face in a birthday cake.

8 hours later...

My roommate shook me awake. I was topless. In my own bunk bed on campus. I had no idea where my philosophy notes were, and my test was in 20 minutes.

Later, I found out someone had vomited all over my Philo notebook.
Even later I got news that I received a B+ on the exam.

Work hard, play hard, baby.

Why do we love the Olympics? Is it the patriotism? Is it the two week long parade of international hotties? The never ending supply of Lifetime movie-worthy inspirational stories? The adrenaline rush of nonstop athletic competition?

But in case you’re an Olympic skeptic, we’ve got the perfect drinking game to get you in the spirit and have some fun with the ’round-the-clock coverage soon to take over a television set near you.  (Not like you needed an excuse to party every night for two weeks, right?)

What you’ll need:
A television set
A few copies of these rules
A bevy of your closest/rowdiest friends
Your drink of choice!

The Rules:
There are three categories for the game, which are self-explanatory and are as follows: Take a Drink, Take Two Drinks, and Finish Your Drink.

Take A Drink when:

* A competitor from your country takes the ice/slopes.
* Bob Costas appears.
* You hear the phrase, “[Insert athlete name here] is a superstar in his/her homeland.”
* You hear the phrase, “a truly inspirational story.”
* The camera pans to an athlete’s family members in the crowd.
* You hear the words “determination,” “focus,” “stamina,” “speed,” or “grace”
* Scenery from Vancouver is shown.
* There are flashbacks to Olympics of years past.
* It’s snowing.

Take Two Drinks when:

* A national anthem is played.
* A male figure skater’s costume has as much, if not more, sparkle than his female partner.
* A competitor scores a new record for his or her country.
* An athlete wins his or her second (or third, or fourth, etc.) Olympic medal. Take a third drink if it’s a multiple within this Olympiad.
* Any segment on Canadian/Vancouver culture is shown.
* Someone younger than you wins a medal.
* There’s a crash!
* There is a video montage of an athlete’s story of overcoming adversity (poverty, an injury, etc.)
* Any final is decided by less than a second (i.e. if a speedskater wins by 0.35 seconds) or less than a point.
* A skater lands a quadruple jump.

Finish Your Drink when:

* A world record is set.
* A competitor from your country wins gold.
* Anyone representing a “non-wintery” country (think: Jamaican bobsled team) wins a medal.
* Someone receives a perfect score.
* Curling is on (it’s the only way to get through it, really)

Most importantly, remember to drink responsibly!

Maybe it will be a friendly game after all.

It’s been almost a month since Iowa dominated the Orange Bowl the college bowl games, and I am already going through fits of withdrawal. Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night on my couch, wearing a jersey, with my hand in a bag of pretzels and have no idea how I got there. Sighh, it’s going to be a long seven months until next season.

But lucky for me, the Super Bowl is here to take my mind off that so I can enjoy day-drinking and eating obscene amounts of nine-layer taco dip and wings once again.

After the nail-biter championship game last Sunday, the Super Bowl will be sure to not disappoint. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints beat out Brett Favre’s Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings in overtime to become the NFC champions and move on to face Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. And there is no better way to celebrate this great coming together of teams than with a lot of beer…

Yes, it’s time for another CollegeCandy drinking game!

Now, there are plenty of football drinking games out there, but this one has been specially created with you lovely ladies in mind. So break out the beer bong and add some Super Bowl decorations to your plot on FarmVille (okay, maybe that’s just me), because here we bring you the CollegeCandy’s Official Super Bowl Drinking Game!

First, it’s crucial that you pick a team to drink to, unless you woke up feeling like P. Diddy and are ready to take on drinking for both. So pick your favorite team (or whichever you deem has the hottest players), your favorite beer–I don’t recommend mixed drinks for this!–and get ready for some sweaty man-on-man action FOOTBALL! (For reference, I usually judge one drink as one sip, not one huge gulp!)

Whenever your team…

Gets a First Down: drink 5
Intercepts the ball: drink 10
Sacks the Quarterback: drink 10
Kicks a field goal: drink half of your beer
Gets a safety: drink half of someone from the opposing team’s beer
Scores a touchdown: chug half of your drink while you do your best celebration dance
Scores a touchdown off a punt return: chug a full beer and run around the room with your arms in the air

But it can’t all be good.

Whenever your team…

Misses a field goal: scream at the TV, then drink 10
Throws an interception: scream obscenities at the TV, then drink 15
Fumbles: drink 5 (but don’t drop your beer on the floor)
Gets a penalty called: push someone from the opposing team, then drink 5
Quarterback gets sacked: Cry, then drink 5

So those are the basic rules. If you’re planning to drink with guys, they might just stick to that. But if the drinking solely revolved around the game, you’d only be drinking 1/3 of the time (seriously, how does an hour long game last for over three?). Here are a few extras to help liven up the in-between play time.

5 Drinks every time:
A lame car commercial takes up 30-seconds that could have been filled with something far more entertaining.
A cute puppy scores a touchdown during the Puppy Bowl (on Animal Planet during halftime!).
A Peyton Manning commercial comes on.
You ask a guy in the room to explain what just happened.
You secretly wish you had a Cosmo instead of Busch Light.

10 Drinks every time:
The camera zooms in on Kim Kardashian (15 if they mention her badonk, 20 if they mention her potential engagement).
Brett Favre retirement is mentioned.
A member of Peyton’s family is talked about (Archie or Eli).
The camera flashes a cute little kid is holding a sign.
You switch over the the Law and Order: SVU marathon.
The Janet/Justin boob-slip is brought up.

And if you want to get especially saucy and don’t feel like going to class until Thursday, drink 1:
When the quarterback throws a pass.
The Who says the word “who” during the halftime show.
For every yard Reggie Bush runs.
For every yard Peyton Manning throws.

Alright ladies, you have the rules and now the only thing left to do is wait until 6pm EST this Sunday, February 7th to tune into CBS for the showdown! And if drinking, good commercials and some really great football don’t excite you, maybe the best butts in the NFL will.

This Sunday, January 31st, the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will air on CBS. And you must know what we’re thinking: it’s the perfect excuse to drink on a Sunday! (Until the Super Bowl, that is.)

Nothing goes better with good music than an ice cold beer (or 12), so we at CollegeCandy have come up with the perfect drinking game to accompany the big night. So go brush your teeth with a bottle of Jack, put on your Poker Face and see who takes home the big awards… and which of your friends will make it to the end of the show.

Now that winter break is here, we all have some much needed time on our hands. And if watching this week’s episode of Jersey Shore for the bazillionth time isn’t really doing it for you, Bananagrams can be your go-to for continuing to be a waste of space without feeling guilty about it. Hey, you’re building words after all! Even if your game vernacular consists of spelling out only the most complex words like vodka and fart.

I was introduced to this game on a freezing night with a few too many glasses of wine in me and was quickly hooked. It’s like Scrabble meets Go Fish meets crack. Seriously. Before I knew it the group of five players had dwindled down to two, it was 5:30 am and I was suddenly way more worried that platitudinous was spelled correctly than if my fellow Bananagrams player would finally make a move on me instead of on the game…and show me his own banana. Ha! I kid (er, sort of).

Trust me when I say its a must-have for your apartment. You can play it with your roomies and even make a drinking game out of it. Or take it on vacation and show your parents just how much you are learning in school (“look mom, I can spell Gonorrhea!”). Hell, you can even be totally cool and play it by yourself. But take it from me, if you’re trying to have any game (as in the late-night booty kind) don’t play it drunk on a Friday night with a cute boy. Unless you plan to spell out (Let’s) “Makeout.” Better yet, “fornicate” uses a whopping nine tiles, which would be a major win/win.

Banana (Bread and) Republic
All this talk of bananas makes me think of what else I love that involves this delightfully yellow wonder fruit. And aside from the obvious, chocolate chip banana bread (click here for an all natural recipe that involves peanut butter), I’m a big fan of Banana Republic, especially their jewelry. Like these earrings.

They are a statement without being overpowering and their hint of turquoise makes me feel like I should be sporting a sun dress and a pina colada instead of freezing my ass off in a winter coat with my space heater. Not to mention they take your jeans-and-solid-color-t-shirt uniform to a whole other level. Yeah it’s that serious.

Aren’t you glad you know?

You know that really annoying friend of yours who feels the incessant need to point out that they were the first to know about a now really popular band? Every. single. time. it comes on the radio?

“I knew about them before they were famous – like way back in the day. Like, I had to listen to their music on a cassette tape – no, scratch that – I came out of the womb listening to their music. That’s how far I go back with them.” (Let me pause here to say I would like to vomit all over these people. Obviously SOMEONE listened to them back in the day before they were hugely famous. That is how they got famous, genius. Because people like their music. Tough new concept to grasp, I know.)

However, there is something exciting about the knowing of a new band, new clothing brand, great sale, awesome book or recipe, and sharing it with the ones you love. And by ones you love, I mean the ones you go back and forth with right here on the CollegeCandy message boards.
