1. Justin Timerlake hosting: JT on Saturday Night Live is the best thing since sliced bread. He wasn’t even in The Lonely Island performance! Yeah he won the Emmy for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, but I was expecting him to at least be there. JT was no where to be found. I think Jane Lynch was good, though I’d rather her played the host role as Sue Sylvester instead. You hear that Emmy Academy? JT for 2012 host!

2. Charlie Sheen and Ashton Kutcher throw down: While the MaSheen kept it classy like San Diego, it would have been pretty awesome to see a fight between him and Ashton instead of Jimmy Fallon vs. Jimmy Kimmel. Charlie is trying to clean up his act, but a shirtless Michael Kelso fighting over tiger blood would have been much appreciated.

3. Modern Family wouldn’t have won every.single.thing: I love Modern Family, it’s hilarious. But it was one of those situations where you start to hate that movie that wins all of the Oscars. Same thing. I’m not saying they didn’t deserve their awards, but I wanted to see some other shows get credit where it’s due as well.

4. Kate Winslet would have kissed everyone: I don’t think anyone was shocked when Kate kissed Mildred Pierce costar, Guy Pearce, since she always kisses those in her vicinity. How awesome would it have been for her to go all Britney and Madonna and plant one on Claire Danes and Hugh Laurie?

5. Steve Carrell would have finally won: I can’t get over the fact that Steve Carrell didn’t win an Emmy after his final season on The Office. I’m really bitter about it. He’s been nominated every year, and the man is beyond deserving as I’m pretty sure he actually is Michael Scott in real life.

6. The Lonely Island would replace The Emmytunes: I can’t tell you how much I obsess over Zachary Levi and Colbie Smulders, but the Emmytunes were awkward and totes unnecessary. I really wasn’t sure of the purpose of that song group, but I know if The Lonely Island were singing during those weird moments in the show it would have actually been funny.

7. Entourage would have at least been nominated for something: Where was love for Vince, Drama, Turtle, E, and Ari? With it being the year of their last season, I expected one nomination. Sure, the boys will be back for the movie soon, but this was the end! I loved seeing them walk on stage in true Entourage fashion, though I would have rather them all been holding shiny gold trophies.

8. The Colbert Report would have upset The Daily Show: Do I watch both of these in place of real news? Absolutely. The Daily Show always wins, and if you couldn’t tell it was a running joke throughout the awards. How great would it have been if The Colbert Report actually took a win from The Daily Show? Beyond amazing.

9. There would have been more pageantry: One of my favorite parts of the night was when all of our favorite funny ladies mocked pageants and sauntered on stage, waiting for their crowning moment. Impromptu silliness like that is what separates the Emmys from other awards shows. The Emmys are supposed to be fun and outrageous, which is why that bit was so funny.

10. Christina Hendricks boobs would have been even bigger: Seriously girlfriend, you’re foxy. But I feel like you’re going to crumble under the weight of your ta-tas.

The Emmys are tonight, which means hot TV actors in tuxedos. I don’t really care who wins any of the awards, I just care that Jon Hamm gets more camera time than Ed O’Neill. This year, tons of swoon-worthy guys are nominated for awards, which means we will be glued to our TVs even if the show lasts 10 hours.

So, I guess I’m coping by doing what any 22-year-old would do: dabbling a little bit in this and a little bit in that. Although the LSAT is top priority (yeah you evil logic games, I’m talking to you), I have been on the prowl for an internship. In fact, since I’ve been out in California, I have applied for about a million (ok – probably about 25) different internships. Nearly every one required me to get college credit…which sucks for me since I’m past that stage. One, which I took, ended up being a major joke. However, finally, something perfect came along. For about two weeks now, I have been interning at a major online celebrity/pop culture gossip magazine. Instead of sitting behind a desk all day, I spent my first day at the red carpet premiere of Pirahna 3D. Since then, there has been no turning back when it comes to working celebrity gifting suites and Emmy weekend red carpet charity events.

Really, it’s one of those perfect internships that any girl who reads the tabloids, keeps up with the Kardashians, and obsesses over things such as Snooki’s tan and Lindsay Lohan’s jail time would die for. Like everyone’s favorite Hollywood intern, Lauren Conrad at Teen Vogue, it’s one of those opportunities where the world kinda opens up and sends you running in a million different directions. It’s perfect for me because it’s the perfect side-kick for studying for the LSAT. A lot of hard work, but a lot of fun too. A perfect mixture of pleasure and pain, which constantly keeps me on my toes and motivated (motivation is key when it comes to the LSAT, at least for me).

But boy, do I wish Hollywood came with a guide beyond Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA.” It’s a completely different world than what I’ve ever experienced, even as an intern in New York City. There are stilettos and legs that go on for miles and miles. Plastic surgery is all around me. In fact, a girl at the gifting suite told me if I wanted to fix my thin lips she could recommend a good plastic surgeon that specializes in lip injections (as much as I wanted to cry for the insult, I couldn’t believe people actually say these things). There are actresses, actors, PR people, reporters, photographers, press passes, parties. And since coming from a small school in Virginia, it’s hard not to sing with Miley Cyrus on this one: “This is all so crazy, everybody seems so famous.” While a lot of people get swept up in the limelight of Hollywood, I just want to stay afloat and get the most of the internship that I can.

One thing’s for sure on this post-grad journey, I will take you guys along for the ride. Who knows if Hollywood is going to pick me up and spit me out, or if I will manage to survive and feel at home doing celebrity interviews (to be honest, it’s kinda weird asking questions that seem a little too blunt) and rocking some major pumps. I’m hoping, since L.C. did it – I can too. And even though a guide to surviving as a post-grad intern in Hollywood doesn’t exist, I’m hoping I can learn the ropes of the red carpet just as fast as I was able to learn how to be the best damn college kid around, and as fast as I became used to the constant surprise factor of being a post-grad.

The big tragedy of moving back into my apartment today was realizing that since I decided to save money by nixing the cable TV, I could not watch the Emmy Red Carpet show. It was traumatic. Watching the stars arrive and chat with Ryan Seacrest, Giuliana Rancic and the other annoying people they usually bring in is the highlight of my night and way more exciting than watching people ramble off a list of thank yous before they are kindly escorted off the stage.

Though, to be fair, Jimmy Fallon did have some really good moments.

Anyways, thank god for the Internet, right? I spent the evening scouring the World Wide Web to find out what all my favorite TV stars were wearing to the big event. And, much like Modern Family’s “Best Comedy Series” win, I wasn’t surprised to see a lot of good, a lot of bad and some major WTF.

The Gorge:

Tina Fey has become a red carpet all star, proving time and again that funny and beautiful can coexist. I LOVED the beading on this form fitting gown; it was full of personality, just like the lovely lady workin’ it. Somewhat new to the award show circuit, Nina Dobrev has come along way from the teen-mom she played on Degrassi.  My fellow Canuck looked like a Greek goddess in this Zuhair Murad dress. And what can anyone say about Glee bombshell, Dianna Agron? The girl looks stunning in a Cheerios uniform, so it’s no surprise she shined on the red carpet in this lace Carolina Herrera gown.

The Anti-Gorge:

Every year, with all the new designers and celebrity stylists out there, I wonder if there will be any bad fashion walking the award show red carpets. And every year, without fail, there are many. But how? How did anyone let Lauren Graham (who I absolutely adore) leave the house in a dress like that? The white bit makes the dress too bulky on the side, and she definitely could have used the “less is more” policy with her accessories. But that’s nothing compared to Carrie Preston. While her hair and makeup are both stunning, they aren’t enough to combat what she’s got going on below the neckline. Just look at the back! No on in their right mind should willingly add all that bulk to their badonk. And Eva La Rue? Are you going for the “sluttiest girl at the show” award? Between the slit, the cut-out and the one shoulder, this looks like something even Audrina Patridge wouldn’t wear. Also, can I point out that she is almost the color as the red carpet?

Uh….WTF?

While Ricky Gervais complained that there was no booze at the Emmys, it seems that at least a few TV starlets got their drink on before they even got dressed in the morning. Mindy Kaling‘s dress made her look like on of Willy Wonka’s Munchkins.  And there are no words to explain what is going on with top of her dress.  Or the bottom of the dress. Or that hair. I wonder who had their updo appointment first – Mindy or Naya Rivera.  Do you think their stylist offered a 10% discount on the Bump-its? Of course, Naya’s hair wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t pair it with that poofy ’80s-prom-meets-pageant-queen thing. Thank god she wasn’t wearing a corsage. And really, what can you say about Sarah Hyland’s dress? Homegirl had wings.  That is all.

Big night ahead of you tomorrow, huh? You’ve really made it in the entertainment world now. You slipped into the spotlight when no one was looking and you almost made everyone forget about the Taxi movie.

And now you’re hosting the Emmys. The Mother-effin Emmys. The Oscar’s slightly awkward younger sister. With such a great title comes even greater responsibility. You’ve got to do your best to keep the show to 45 minutes, an hour max.  Oh, and make it funny. You’re young and you’re hip and it’s time we rewrite some of the hosting rules to keep this whole thing exciting and fresh. Fresh is a Hollywood buzzword, right?

No one wants to listen to winners spend 35 minutes thanking people with careers that most people don’t even know exist (I owe this all to my agent, my mistress, my assistant dressing room decorator who showed me that those banana yellow chairs really do help me learn my lines).

So break the rules, ignore the music cues, and make sure everyone keeps their acceptance speeches to 10 seconds. On second thought, skip the acceptance speeches. Have them wave from their seats and Tweet out anything they want to say. If LiLo can run through a therapy-session of Tweets about her Dad while high on coke prescription Adderall, then Tina Fey can do a decently witty acceptance speech in 140 characters.

Cut off the presenters when their intro speeches start sounding extra-staged. With the exception of my AOL-using Grandmother, we all know that awkwardly playful banter is scripted. I mean does anyone really believe that Sofia Vergara and that overgrown kid from Two-and-a-half Men really have that great of chemistry?

Do call out celebrities on any major scandals going on in their lives. You’ve got the mike and you’ve got total control. Use your time wisely by skipping the lame hosting jokes and pointing out all and any celebs who have landed magazine covers this year for cheating, rehab, or any combination of the two.

Don’t be shy when it comes to making fashion critiques. You’re a dude and ladies respect your opinion. No actress should get away with a horrendous excuse for a dress just because she’s an Emmy nominee.

Start rumors and have some fun. Get the camera men in on the joke by making sure that when they do the obligatory shots of Brangelina, followed by a lonely, childless Jen, that they end it with a dramatic pan over to Abigail Breslin. You’ll have all the home viewers going, “whoa, wait, is Abigail Breslin part of this love mess? Is it a love rectangle?”

Skip the miniseries segment. Feel free to post a Facebook note about it, but no one is on the edge of their seats waiting to see which PBS special brings home the trophy.

Force Glee to perform. It’s what America wants. And you don’t want to disappoint us, do you?
Stick to these ideas, Jimbo, and you most definitely will not.

This week, in light of the ever-riveting Emmys, I’ve decided to countdown the ten primetime ladies that I wish I could be in real life. Most of them are from currently aired shows, but of course I had to let some of my canceled favorites slip by.

10. Cuddy – House
Who wouldn’t love to work with the ever lovable Dr. House? Cuddy is a complete non-pushover HBIC (look it up) who always looks fierce. And her hair is never out of place! Unlike that awful Cameron. Barf.

9. Lucille Bluth – Arrested Development
Why did this show get canceled? Why? I hope one day to be Lucille when I’m a “Gangy,” dirty martini in hand and Chanel skirt suits never out of place. Hopefully I’ll be slightly less mentally damaging to my family, though. Slightly.

8. Heidi Klum – Project Runway
The only non-fictional character on the list. This one’s a no brainer. Except I’m not sure how I’d go home to Seal every night.

7. Pam – The Office
I’m not a huge Pam fan. In fact, I was totally Team Karen while she was on the show. But, she has Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and that’s all I need.

6. Buffy – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I don’t watch True Blood, I don’t care for that Twilight nonsense and I will never, ever believe that there are vampires comparable to Spike or Angel out there. Here’s to the original ass-kicking, vampire slaying valley girl that everyone knows and loves. Without her, this vampire craze probably wouldn’t exist.

5. Blair Waldorf – Gossip Girl
If I can’t be Blair, just let me have her wardrobe. Or her love life.

4. Liz Lemon – 30 Rock
While I adore Toni Collette in the new series, “U.S. of Tara,” Tina Fey was robbed last night. Robbed! I heart Liz Lemon and it would be such a treat to try and wrangle Tracy, Jack and Kenneth on a weekly basis in 30 Rockerfeller Center, no matter how pathetic Liz’s personal life is.

Who doesn’t love stoned suburbia? Best show ever.

Like I said, don’t watch the show. However, that hottie Bill that I see hanging around the cast pictures? Yeah, okay, maybe I’ll Netflix it.

While the stars strut their stuff down the red carpet in haute couture dresses, we’re resting comfortably in our bed wearing nothing but an old t-shirt and a pair of VS undies shoving Pad Thai in our face. Because nothing goes better with an award show than drowning our fashion-envy sorrows in a bowl of greasy noodles.

We’ve got two full hours of designer goodness (and – fingers crossed – total disaster) coming our way, so let’s get to the show!

6:50 PM:I spotted David Boreanaz. I love. Is it just me or does everyone look kinda plain? I want some wild fashion! Oh, apparently Mr. Jay agrees. Not fierce. Sandra Oh creeps me out. Am I alone in this?

6:52: I’m so over Twilight and all these new sparkly vampires. And this unfunny sketch. Is it wrong that I’m looking more forward to the new episode of Khloe and Kourtney than the actual Emmy’s?

6:55 PM: Amy Pohler, coolest mommy ever. I really like Katrina Bowden’s dress! Rainn Wilson, creepy.

7:00 PM: Vanessa Williams has some fantastic knockers. Her doorknocker earrings, people.

7:05 PM: Kate Walsh looks incredible! Favorite dress thus far. Props for the Aldo clutch and the Vuitton shoes. Nene says she’s, “not impressed” with anyone and hasn’t seen the “bam!” Mr. Jay is loving on Sandra Oh. Something about Sandra just unsettles me. ALEC BALDWIN AHHHH I SEE HIM!

First the MTV VMAs and now the Primetime Emmys!

While the actual show is sorta boring, the Emmy red carpet is one of the best of the year. We love to see what Jenna Fischer looks like when she’s not donning dowdy Pam Beasly clothes. And who doesn’t want to see Patrick Dempsey in a tux? Mmmm mmmm good.

Since we’ve got nothing else to do on a Sunday night (besides that 175 pages of reading for history), we thought we’d watch the Red Carpet show with you. Starting at 6pm EST we’ll be live-blogging it all with Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic on the E! Emmy preshow.

So order some Thai delivery, grab your laptop and watch with us! We’re sure there won’t be any Kanye moments, but we can guarantee someone will be wearing something equally as scandalous.
