Is bitchiness contagious, cuz Jordana definitely caught it.
So it’s finally time for Fashion Week. Fashion Week that happened a year ago, but a big moment for those designers who made it through, nonetheless. It’s been a long journey. 12 challenges and ots of lost talent along the way (we’re talking mostly to you, Ra’Mon!). But after last night’s episode, I can honestly say that those judges finally did some good…er…judging.
So let’s give a big thanks to Cindy Crawford. You go, girl. And, DAMN, you look good.
Last night’s challenge was to find some inspiration at L.A.’s Getty Center. I’m not quite sure what that place was or what the purpose of it is, but the mayor was quite proud of it so I went along for the ride. Each designer could choose anything in there to inspire a look and then go to it.
I’m not sure what happened along the way, but it seems that Christopher must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up at a David’s Bridal booth at the Renaissance Fair. The “dress” he put together was heavy, ugly and pretty infuriating if you ask me. And you’re reading this post, so you definitely asked. Read More »

Before anyone calls the police and I wind up on the next episode of Cops, let me clarify. When I say “drugs” I mean marijuana/weed/pot/green/reefer/hemp/buddha/herbage, or whatever else you want to call it. Lots of my friends, especially guys, have touted the effects of weed, and some even smoke it every day as a way to relax from a hard day of boring classes and crazy professors. I’ve never tried it, but lately I’ve wondered why not.
No, I’m not being peer pressured (my guy friends aren’t begging to give me their weed for free…they want it for themselves!); I’m just curious and I sorta want to see what all the fuss is about.
And, yes, I know it’s technically illegal, but we’ll just skip that part and look at it realistically, shall we? Since we’re normally all law-abiding, good college students who would never do anything wrong or illegal, obvi. (Like those 2.5 years in college where we were under 21….)
Love it
Or rather, my friends love it. They always tell me about how good they feel afterward, like “a balloon that has just been released to go float among the clouds.” (Yeah, he was already high. I didn’t really get it, either.) Some claim it even helps them work better, especially for creative writing papers and art class. It relieves stress, helps you sleep better, gives you confidence (for my shy guy friends to ask out girls), and just makes you happier in general. Read More »

It’s been a rough week. Not only did we realize that we’ve suddenly got mountains of reading to do, but we also found out that drinking more doesn’t actually cure a hangover. We’ve also got swine flue worries, toxic friends, and the Kanye West-Joe Wilson battle for Biggest Douche of the Year to deal with.
Most ridiculously of all, Vh1 is trying to convince us that Miley Cyrus is a diva. Come on, guys! Divas don’t sing songs with titles like “Party in the USA” or have a close, personal relationship with Mickey Mouse. No offense, Miley.
There are a few bright spots on the horizon, though. As always, Fashion Week provided us with some grade-A escapism. Whether you’re knocking boots with a special someone or saving up your v-card, we had you covered. (One piece of advice for all the virgins out there—when you do decide to lose it, head over to Washington, D.C. You’re welcome.)
Best of all? If you can prove how much you love College Candy, you might just win a snazzy new laptop. Seriously!
So cheer up, everybody. It’s Friday! Throw on a pair of camouflaged sweat pants, breathe a sigh of relief, and go out and make some bad decisions this weekend. It’s all uphill from here.

Fashion Week, a sort-of welcome week for the rich and stylish, has come to an end. Come tomorrow, a construction crew will be taking the tents at Bryant Park down, models will hop on planes to London and editors will finally get more than three hours of sleep per night. This week’s had it all: appearances by D-List Celebrities (hello, Kelly Bensimon,) crazy parties (Alexander Wang rented out a gas station) and clothes, clothes, clothes. Ready to stock your closet for spring?

This week our usual Fashion Porn was placed on the back burner to make room for the fashion lover’s Christmas: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
As fashion week wraps up, I already have a long shopping list of what I must find once Spring clothes hit the shelves. While I’m aware that this is months away, the collections this year were so beautiful that I’m going to have to start saving up in order to stock my closet with the affordable versions of the designs I saw this week.
And although it’s hard to play favorites with the many diverse collections that walked the runways, there are five fabulous designers that really stood out amongst the prints, sky high heels, and oversized accessories at this year’s NY Fashion Week. Fashion Week MVPs, if you will

This morning, I was extremely lucky to be one of the VIP attendees of Ruffian’s Fashion Week show in NYC, thanks to Lockerz. While I’ve had tons of really cool experiences interning in New York (I mean, it’s NYC, baby!) getting a taste of the socialite life was pretty freaking awesome.
Below is my experience VIPing it up at a real NYC Fashion Week Fashion show. And let me tell you – those shows attract some weirdos. But it’s only a small taste; there’s plenty more coming soon, including some behind-the-scenes fun at the VIP Ruffian After Party. P.S. I’m bringing Su Beyazit as my date.

It’s been a big week—since classes started on Tuesday, I’ve freaked out about my upcoming thesis proposal approximately 3,849 times, eaten tons of free food at our Activities Fair, and seen Rihanna in the flesh (there are perks to going to college in New York City).
My fellow CCers have been busy too, doing everything from getting pumped for Fashion Week to preparing for football season to pruning their Facebook friends list—hey, it’s not as easy as it sounds. We’ve been occupying ourselves by debating whether guys and girls can live together in harmony, and whether it’s a good idea to be in a serious relationship in college, despite the fact that men are stupid. And if they’re not dumb, there’s probably something else wrong with them.
At least we’ll always have these guys to dream about. And hey, since college is a time for experimentation, maybe we should just throw caution to the wind and ditch monogamy altogether: the more the merrier, right? Unless that sexually freewheeling attitude means that you consider buying this for your little niece or cousin. That will never be okay.

Su on the right, Su's dress on the left. Hotness.
CollegeCandy loves lots of things, but two of our favorites? Fashion Week and terrific, creative college girls.
And guess what? There’s one fabulous female who brings our two favorite things together (besides peanut butter and chocolate): student and fashion designer, the lovely Su Beyazit.
Su, who hails from North Carolina and has ties to Turkey, resides in the Lower East Side of NYC and attends the New School (oh hey, Project Runway!) studying Integrated Design. Yes, she’s sick of answering, but indeed she has met Tim Gunn and was in an elevator with Miss Klum.
“She’s tall,” Su said of the encounter with Heidi, “Really tall.”
Su’s most recent design was spotted on “As the World Turns” star, Meredith Hagner on the red carpet for the daytime Emmy awards. Twenty two years old and already designing for the red carpet? Color me impressed.
I met with Su at a vegan cafe in the Lower East Side where we discussed fashion, grafitti and Frida Kahlo over veggie burgers and handmade drawings with the crayons provided for us. Su’s effervescent personality lit up the entire cafe. She demystifies the fashion industry and her personality sits at the opposite end of the spectrum of Rachel Zoe’s; it’s all smiles and no “ba-nanas” with this curly haired pin-up doll of a person.
The Five Questions We Ask Everyone:
1. What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
Back when I lived in Wilmington North Carolina, I had this boyfriend who was wild, and my good friend Anna was a wild child too. So one day my boyfriend at the time goes, “Let’s graffiti downtown!” We didn’t have any spray paint – all we had were these cans of interior paint and these brushes – so we dressed in all black and put on those cowboy neckerchiefs and went downtown to the roof of this brand new fancy parking lot.
So there we were, in all black, painting poetry and words in other languages on this giant white wall. It was everywhere – dark interior paint on this 30 foot tall wall in the parking lot. Read More »
