While edgy, “boyfriend,” and boho-chic looks may be super trendy at the moment, sometimes a girl just wants to look girly! There’s no better way to accomplish this than with ruffles.
Ruffles can be super flattering when placed correctly. If you’re flat chested, a ruffled top will add some extra oomph. A ruffled skirt or dress can also emphasize or give the appearance of curves on your bottom half. Ruffled shoulders can also make arms appear slimmer. Here are some ultra feminine yet chic summer looks that incorporate ruffles: Read More »

In attempts to save money, I swore off any sort of shopping for the month of June. I don’t need another dress or another pair of shoes for at least 12 years, but I could definitely use some extra moolah in my bank account. Knowing that I’d cave the moment I stepped foot in a clothing store, I haven’t gotten near one since May. Unfortunately, though, my personal pact did not stop my daily shopping emails from arriving in my inbox.
And that is where I saw this beauty, which makes me super happy that July 1 is just around the corner.
May I introduce you to the perfect summer dress? It’s light and feminine and the cut would be flattering on almost anyone. The flowers are bright and summery, yet delicate. They let you take part in the floral trend of the summer without screaming “I’M TAKING PART IN THE FLORAL TREND OF THE SUMMER!” And those ruffles? Sophisticated and somehow totally girly.
The dress also happens to be half-off, meaning it is summer (and recession) perfectionion. I just hope there is one left in my size when Thursday rolls around. I’d be more than happy to break my shopping fast on this gorgeous frock.

Ah, fall. With its gorgeous colors, crisp air and back-to-school excitement, it’s undoubtedly my favorite season. The only problem with fall is that it leads into my least favorite season, winter. Being a New England gal, I’ve begrudgingly grown used to braving heavy snow and freezing temperatures, but there’s something else about winter that I’m not wild about.
It’s that, well, I get downright…mannish. Read More »

Previously worn only by tattooed biker chicks, leather jackets have become a must-have item for fall. Stylish and comfortable, the leather jacket is the perfect substitute for that tired North Face fleece.
Although they are a little bit pricey, leather jackets are a worthwhile investment since there are so many different ways to rock them. The above crop leather motorcycle jacket from Victoria’s Secret is $198, but it works with so many outfits that it will be a splurge you won’t regret.
Here are four ways to rock the leather jacket: Read More »

I have some mannish tendencies. I am terrible about telling other people my plans, I like to work through problems myself, and I lack that innate thoughtfulness that seems to come so naturally to other women. While I rarely think through any of my decisions (fault of a stubborn impulsiveness inherited from my father), I still have the capacity to be painfully rational.
Apparently, these qualities (among a litany of others including belching, farting, and a healthy sense of competition) put me squarely in the men’s camp of the battle between the sexes.
The funny thing is that I see myself as extremely feminine.
When did women have to start walking the fine line between being prissy and being completely butch? Men shouldn’t be the only ones to have to soul-search and try on high heels.
Come on ladies, it’s time to get in touch with your masculine side. Read More »

DANI CAMPBELL from MTV’s new bisexual dating game and hit show A Shot at Love: With Tila Tequila can be spotted signing autographs and smiling for her lady (and even male) fans at all-woman nightclubs all over the country. The show was based on a B-List celebrity’s quest to figure out her own sexuality, and of course, MTV felt as though this life decision would be idea for thousands of strangers in front of their TV set. To each her own, I suppose, but the show did leave many viewers and fans questioning the sincerity behind the final outcome of show: Tila picked a boy over the perfect girl.
Granted, how much sincerity can really go into reality dating shows, but, the genuineness of one contestant was never questioned: Dani. Her lovable, real, and sweet personality immediately became a viewer favorite all over the country.
The rising just-turned-30 reality star is from Fort Lauderdale. With tomboy looks she thinks of herself as not feminine and not butch, but a little of both: futch. She loves her job as a firefighter but knows how to relax with a movie, a book, camping, playing paintball and softball. A firefighter and paramedic, saving other people’s lives is a big part of her own.
Dani fans are not only devoted, they are starting to take action for their beloved idol. Her fan base is growing and according to an online poll, close to 90% of viewers want to see Dani have her own dating show as a spin-off to Shot of Love. Read More »

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is just rubbing folks the wrong way left and right these days.
This week, it’s America’s Fashion Mavens that the former First Lady has left with bunched panties.
Hillary has turned down a spot on an upcoming cover of Vogue Magazine amidst worries that any affiliation with the fashion mag will make her appear “too feminine” for the role of president.
Hillary Clinton…feminine? You know…somehow, I don’t think that’s going to be a problem!
“We were told by Ms. Clinton’s camp that they were concerned if Clinton appeared in Vogue that she would appear too feminine,” a Vogue spokesman recently said in a statement.
The phrase WTF springs to mind, but what you do think of Hillary’s decision?
Hillary’s Vogue diss has left the Style Bible’s editor, Anna Wintour, tapping her Blahniks in frustation.
Anna briefly addressed the snub in her February editor’s letter, stating: “The notion that a contemporary woman must look mannish in order to be taken seriously as a seeker of power is frankly dismaying.”

Me and manicures, we have a love / hate relationship.
In my mind, the French Manicure represents a woman who has it all together; she’s smart, has things organized in cute little boxes on her desk, doesn’t have clothes strewn around her room, owns outfits that match, and is successful enough to spend $10 a week on nail upkeep. Perfectly painted fingers are the hallmark of chic and classy.
So, why oh why am I hopeless when it comes to keeping them that way?
Not being able to preserve a French mani makes me feel like a loser. A childish idiot who can’t maintain even the simplest womanly fashion. How hard is it to keep one’s nails at a nicely filed length? How difficult is it to keep that pretty white line from chipping off?
If you’re me, very hard. Incredibly hard. Impossible. Read More »

The dudes over at Truckblogs (no, I don’t usually frequent a site dedicated to all things vehicle, I was given the address by a friend) think they’ve discovered the secret behind that Dodge ram symbol.According to these dudes who like cars, the symbol is way more feminine than anyone has ever given it credit for.
I only wish this graphic had been around while I was still in high school, so I could stick it to the dashboard of all those obnoxious guys who revved their engines in the school parking lot at 7:15 AM.
…Nothing strikes more fear into a high school boy than the inner workings of a woman’s vagina.
