For me, the return of classes, exams, club meetings, and late-night studying leads to the return of something else I could do without—unwanted pounds.
Especially as a commuter, I’m often only home early in the morning and late at night, when all I want is some comfort food and a red bull before I crack open the books.
My gym card sits snugly in my wallet, unused and unwanted, and the Wendy’s drive-thru employees know be my name, and any semblance of a workout routine and healthy eating habits become a fond memory.
This year, however, after many years of trial-and-error, I plan on keeping my waistline in check. Here’s how you can do the same during your busy semester:
Pack your lunch. No Power Rangers lunch box required—Tupperware and a brown paper bag will do. Go grocery shopping when you have a free hour and buy healthy lunch meats, bread, fruit, and granola bars. Sounds easy, right? Well, the trick to making this work is packing as soon as your bring the groceries home, not when you’re guzzling down hot coffee on you way out the door with 7 minutes to spare before class.
Keep snacks handy. Stock up on small plastic Ziploc bags, dried fruits, nuts, pretzels, baby carrots, snack size candy, and other mini snacks. Keep a bunch of these bags at the ready in your fridge so you can throw a few in your purse before heading out the door. Almost anything you bring with you will be healthier than a giant Snickers and bottle of soda from the vending machine when you’re trying to silence your grumbling stomach during class. Read More »

Okay, you have three whole months before returning back to campus in the fall. That is a solid amount of time to get your ass in shape. During my freshman year of college, I definitely took advantage of all the wonderful food that my dining hall had to offer and partook in late night pizza binges.
And it showed…I put on at least ten pounds. But, have no fear if you are in a similar situation, that extra weight is easy to peel off and there’s no better time to do it than summer.
The satisfaction you will feel upon returning to campus and leaving that guy, who you hooked up with regularly but haven’t seen since May, totally speechless and begging to get you back because of your bangin’ body will be amazing. Trust me, it’s worth the pain and effort.
So, what better hot broad to emulate than Jessica Biel? I mean, she was named Esquire’s “Sexiest Woman Alive.” Lucky for us, personal trainers of fit celebrities such as Biel revealed their best diet and fitness advice to US magazine for getting in shape. And I must say that the list, surprisingly enough, is some of the best and sane advice I’ve read in awhile.
1. Change is good!
Jessica Biel’s trainer, Jason Walsh, likes to keep his client mentally stimulated. “I’m a big advocate of recreational sports and stuff. If someone can get out there, even if it’s a hike or something like that, just to break up the monotony of going to the gym…I really like that.” Read More »

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got some big ta-ta’s, and frankly, they can get annoying. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a nice set of breasts, but as the saying goes—the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
Would I trade them for a different pair? Maybe, but not necessarily due to their size. I’ve fluctuated in weight quite a bit since entering college – the freshman +15, the work – your -ass – off – to – lose – it – 20, the I – look – good – again – so – I – can – be – lazy +10, and finally the what – the – hell – was – I – thinking -10; putting me at a comfortable and satisfying weight. (Although I’m sure I could use to lose another 5—how typical and hypocritical of me.)
My point is that with all this weight loss and gain my breasts have taken a beating, and neither I nor “the girls” are happy about it.
For being as large as they are (34D—nothing too crazy, but definitely not small) they’ve always been, shall I say perky? My girlfriends were somewhat amazed, especially since in high school I was always that girl who never wore a bra if there wasn’t a dire need for one. (Oh my goodness, what a hooch! Whatever.) It was great, it was liberating, and I always prided myself on my big, perky boobs. Read More »

I’ll admit it, I’m a compulsive yo-yo dieter. With the ups and downs of college, I don’t think I know a single girl who has remained the same weight all through college. Whether it means gaining the freshman 15 or crash dieting to drop ten pounds for a formal a month away, if you’re anything like me, your weight has been on a roller coaster ride over the past four years.
Although I always knew I was this kind of dieter, my fears were confirmed in a nutrition class last semester when we had to take a test called “what kind of dieter” are you. The title of yo-yo dieter basically means that I try out different diets from time to time, losing weight and then gaining some back. I am sort of a health nut as well and compulsively keep up with new diet, nutrition, and fitness trends.
But, recent research has shown that dieting actually makes you FATTER in the long run.
