Except, I do imagine it. I catch myself worrying about non-existent assignments and responsibilities that won’t resume until September. But even more, I constantly find myself spacing out at work, reminiscing about all the good stuff that comes along with college. Mostly the whole not-bored-at-work-9-to-5 thing.

And I miss it!

Meal Plans: While I’m lucky enough not to be taking classes this summer, I do have to work — which means I’m stuck in a college town all summer long without the benefit of visiting home, and therefore the benefit of home cookin’. My freshman year, I ate dining hall food. My sophomore year, my sorority dues included a meal plan. This summer, with my sorority house closed and the dining halls freshmen-infested, I’m armed only with my apartment’s kitchen and whatever the hell I find when I Google “easy, cheap, healthy recipes” and pudding. Do I enjoy learning to cook? Absolutely. Would I prefer a cook to prepare my meals? Uh, hell yes. Plus, there’s no clean up if you’re not the one using all the dishes…

The Gym: As any lady knows, summer is either the best time to flaunt your hard earned bikini-bod, or to berate yourself for spending more of Spring watching The Office than a yoga instructor. So naturally, gym time is a necessary evil (unless you enjoy working out, which I sadly do not). Imagine my disappointment when I arrived at my campus gym early for kickboxing, only to have my student I.D. DENIED at the turnstile. It was almost as embarrassing as having a credit card declined, weirdly enough. Apparently, if you don’t take summer classes at FSU, you can’t use the gym (I guess the tuition I pay during fall and spring doesn’t cut it). Every day as I run outside (instead of on a treadmill with AC and Daisy of Love repeats) I count the days until I’ll be back at the student gym.

The Bar Scene: Never in my life did I think I’d find myself wishing for the bar to be more crowded. There are no lines for the bathroom, the bartenders are almost overly attentive, and I have enough room to extend my arms. All of these are seemingly good things, but when there are no people to watch, no strangers to mingle with, and no one standing between me and unlimited mojitos, things at the bar just don’t end well. When it takes me 20 minutes to fight my way through the crowd to the bar in Fall, I will look back at this time lovingly, but for now, the bar scene just seems kinda boring.

“Academic Expenses”: As I mentioned before, I’m a working woman. But when my parents offer to help out with any school related costs, I definitely don’t turn it down. The beauty of this is that there is always some way to explain a purchase as necessary to my academic career. “Supplies” at Walmart, “Business attire” for those in-class presentations, and my personal favorite “Whatever they sell at the bookstore” because Mom’s credit card is on file there. A random charge on her statement is easily explained during the semester, but trying to convince her that I need money for “road trip supplies” doesn’t go as smoothly.

Overall, I’m not complaining about a long, hot and relaxing summer—but there are definitely a few things I miss about Fall and Spring. What about you guys?

Baby Bio was the last time science was a part of my life, with the exception of a few experimental liquor drinks I’ve concocted along the way.

For those of you who are like me, and haven’t had much science in your life, prepare to be freaked the f*ck out by this list of the most bizarre and crazy-ass experiments in history. These weird scientists went waaaaay beyond memorizing their plant names, and most of the time, they just jumped right into these odd experiments out of pure curiosity.

Check out the list. Learn some things. Freak out your friends. Warning: some of these are pretty disgusting.

Some of the most whacked experiments asked the questions:

What would happen if you give 297 milligrams of LSD (3000 times the level of a typical human dose) to an elephant? Wow, I ask myself that every day. Scientists still don’t know for sure, cause the experiment didn’t go as planned, but I’d say…ummmmm…it’d have one hell of a trip.

What if you put a female prostitute in a room with a gay man after he’s given “heterosexual hormones”? He’ll have sex with her, obvi! He is, after all, still a man. But, in the end, he was still gay. Dammit, science!

What do you get when you try to breed an ape and a human? Gross! Dr. Il’ya Ivanov was clearly a psycho for attempting to artificially inseminate female chimpanzees with human sperm. He was unsuccessful, but even more disturbing is how he found an orangutan named Tarzan and tried to recruit female volunteers to carry Tarzan’s child.

And even MORE disturbing? There were women who said YES! But Tarzan died before any orangutan baby mammas were created and Ivanov was sent off to a prison camp for a couple of years. Aw. Too bad.

What happens when you drink disease-induced puke? Stubbins Ffirth wanted to prove that yellow fever wasn’t contagious back in the 19th century. So he poured “fresh black vomit” obtained from a yellow-fever patient into cuts in his arms, put it in his eyes, smeared it on his body and DRANK IT. Didn’t get sick. Hey…I think we have a new Shot of the Week!

Why are turkeys so horny? Again, a question I ask myself everyday. Apparently, male turkeys are really horny. So, a couple of scientists removed parts of a turkey model one by one, to see how a live turkey would react to it. What did they learn? “It preferred a head on a stick over a headless body.” Turkeys love head! The scientists went on to do the same experiment, but with chickens, and I’m not kidding you when I tell you that the outcome began the scientific title: “Effects of morphological variations of chicken models on sexual responses of cocks.” Almost too easy.

What happens when you ask a stranger to have sex with you? This one is most near and dear to my heart, because it took place on my alma mater’s campus. FSU baby!

Back in the 70′s, pretty college girls from a social psychology class went up to random college guys across campus and asked them, “Would you go to bed with me?” to find out if girls or guys would be more receptive to the proposition.

“Seventy-five percent of guys were happy to oblige an attractive female stranger (and those who said no typically offered an excuse such as, “I’m married”). But not a single woman accepted the identical offer of an attractive male. In fact, most of them demanded the guy leave her alone.”

Not surprising in the least.

And there’s your science lesson for the day. I hope you’ve all learned something. If nothing else, you now know that elephants like LSD, turkeys are horny, even after having heterosexual sex, a homosexual is still a homosexual, there are women out there who would birth a monkey’s baby, you can, in fact, drink yellow fever vomit and not contract yellow fever, and, above all, a college guy would jump into bed with a female stranger faster than a girl would.

Um, you’re welcome?

There’s nothing better than possessing college pride. No matter where we go, from sporting events to keg parties to our grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, us college students revel in screaming out the names of our mascots, singing our alma maters, and making it known, loud and clear, exactly where we go to school, whether we’re shiny new freshmen or forty-year-old alumni.

Unfortunately for some students, there just aren’t enough bragging rights to go around.

Radaronline.com has compiled the nine worst accredited four-year colleges in the country. If you attend one of these colleges, we’re very sorry to do this to you. But for every college that’s known for its superior eliteness or exclusivity, or its hell-of-a-good time, or its drop-dead beautiful men and women, there has to be one that is….well….lack luster.

The list is based on “statistics on academic offerings, admissions, and student life from the Princeton Review, U.S. News and World Report, and the U.S. Department of Education, criteria like low SAT scores, incompetent professors, rock-bottom admissions standards, unbridled alcohol and drug consumption, rampant criminal activity, dubious alumni, and reviews from online outlets like Students Review, Campus Dirt, and College Prowler.” Whew. Pretty extensive.

From the most out-of-control school, California’s Chico, where a mere 15 percent graduate in four years and also where the family-friendly game, “pussy ring toss” was first established, to the worst Ivy Leage school, New York’s Cornell, where suicide rates are high and the girls are considered the most unattractive of the Ivy League bunch, this list provides disses, dirt and fun facts for everyone.

For those of you who call one of these nine campuses your home away from home, I’m sorry for outing you, and I’m also sorry you chose these schools. Haha!! Just kidding. You should be….proud? And for those of you who are lucky enough to go to a school that didn’t make the cut – this calls for a victory dance! WOOHOOOOO!!! Go FSU! IN YO FACE!
