When I look back now, everything in Full House land was not quite right.

Like did Joey seriously live in that basement for that long?! Why didn’t Becky insist that her ROCKSTAR husband and their family move out of the attic? I mean, she was a morning show host. I don’t think Meredith Viera is huddled up in some attic right now because the Olsens guilt-tripped her into staying up there for the sake of family.

But even knowing that the Tanners needed some major, major family therapy (and a few lessons in kindness. Really Danny? Kimmy was like 13 and you were harassing her), I still love the show. This video is for all the Tanner fans out there who are still craving a little predictability, a milkman and some evening TV.

This week, the Golden Globes happened along with a lot of other fun stuff! Celebs got pissed, celebs got engaged, celebs broke up, and some celebs even had secret babies! All in all, a well-rounded week, I’d say.

Back To The Semester Parties

1. You’ll probably never see Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes again. Despite the fact that he did a hilarious job of hosting the Golden Globes, which would have been utterly dull without him, Ricky Gervais’s jokes are being slammed by the majority of Hollywood. Why? I guess because he made fun of both Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp within the first five minutes (I guess Hollywood royalty isn’t used to being picked on…), he trashed the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press, and according to some people, he just went ‘too far’ with the jokes he made about Robert Downey Jr., Bruce Willis, and Tom Cruise. There were tons of rumors that he was asked to never return – but apparently, Ricky has made that decision on his own. Can we pull the stick out of Hollywood’s Botox-injected butt, please?

2. Halle Berry is having baby daddy drama. She’s going into a custody battle with her ex, Gabriel Aubry, over their daughter Nahla. He wants to be officially declared the father, and wants joint custody of his daughter. Can’t really blame the guy, can you? Their break-up seemed pretty friendly, but let’s see what happens when the court gets involved.

3. Anne Hathaway had a great week – not only has it been announced that she’ll be making an appearance on Glee, but she was also cast as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. I guess we’ll find out if Anne has the vocal ability to hold her own on Glee, and the body to pull off that catsuit. All that and the fact that she gets to host the Oscars with James Franco AND got to make out with Jake Gyllenhaal for a movie makes me kind of hate her… and want her life.

4. Kanye West is PISSED. Earlier this week, the rapper made a little joke on his Twitter about Britney Spears: “I’mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z single is one of the best songs of all time!” Britney’s manager replied with, “Thanks for letting us be #1. Much appreciated.” The whole thing was obviously a joke, with Kanye kind of making fun of himself. But the media blew the entire thing out of proportion (WHAT? I know, that never happens), and Kanye was not very happy about it. He wrote a little blog about it, saying “This sh*t takes the air out of my lungs sometimes from blogs to news reports… enough already!!” Amen, Kanye. AMEN.

5.  Nicole Kidman had a secret baby. Kind of. She and Keith Urban welcomed a daughter born through a surrogate mother. No one knew it was happening, so it was pretty random. Too bad this didn’t happen last week, when everyone in Hollywood decided to get pregnant.

Back To The Semester Studying

1. Regis Philbin is retiring. He’s leaving his long-standing post as the host of Live! With Regis and Kelly. Everyone is already wondering who will replace him… but no one seems to be too surprised. That dude is OLD.

2. The Coachella 2011 lineup was announced. If you live in California or near this area, just know that I am extremely jealous of you. Set to perform are Kanye West, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Lauryn Hill, Interpol, Neon Trees, Jimmy Eat World, Duran Duran, and soooo many more. Tickets are almost $300 for the 3-day concert, but it’s also an amazing celeb-and-music filled event that everyone should experience. Like I said… jealous, from cold New York.

3. Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted with Camilla Belle, and the dating rumors immediately flooded the Internet. It WAS kind of a weird coincidence that right after he breaks up with Taylor Swift, he was spotted with her reported ‘enemy’. Oh man, I can’t wait to hear this song.

4. Don’t worry, ladies and guys – Pauly D is still single, as is January Jones. January Jones and her boyfriend, SNL star Jason Sudekis, broke up this week. Honestly, I had no idea they were dating (shameful for me to admit as a gossip blogger), but that sucks because she’s beautiful and he’s funny. And if you were hoping to run into Pauly D at a club and make out with him, you still can. He denied that he’s dating both Chloe Sevigny and Brittany Gastineau.

5. Two more Hollywood engagements: Jodie Sweetin, former Full House star, got engaged. Aw, Stephanie Tanner! But I can’t say I’m happy for these other two – Jesse James and Kat Von D. Ew. You deserve each other. (Sandra, you’re so much better).

And we got some (unexpected) answers back!

Over the past month, we’ve been narrowing down the best of the best of our favorite decade and we’ve had the tough job of saying goodbye to some of our personal favorites: Skip-its, Dunkaroos, Super Nintendo, The Fresh Prince, the Olsen Twins, and every blogger’s original writing tool, the gel pen.

And now, we’re down to the FINAL TWO: Cory and Topanga VS. The Spice Girls. Or more accurately put, the couple that defines the decade and taught us what college marriage really meant vs. the music that had us all yelling GIRL POWER.

This vote will be difficult, it will be challenging, and it will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself. It’s safe to say that it will make Rose’s decision on the Titanic look like child’s play. But that’s why we’re here – to figure out what is the best thing to come from the ’90s.

Here at CollegeCandy we’re really totally digging the ’90s this summer. (And we’re not talking about the temperature.)  With parents invading Facebook and Lindsay Lohan in jail, we yearn for simpler times.  Seriously, who wouldn’t want to travel back to the days of Fruit by the Foot, TGIF, and floppy haired boys?  All this nostalgia got us wondering where our favorite Hollywood mini-hunks of yesteryear are this year.

1. Haley Joel Osment from The Sixth Sense, Pay it Forward and A.I.

He went from seeing dead people to seeing drunk people.  Now 22 and enrolled in college, I wonder if he’s any good at beer pong?  Granted he’s attending NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, but those kids have got to know how to party, too.  Prior to seeking higher education, he made his Broadway debut co-starring in a revival of American Buffalo. Well, that’s nice.

2. Dylan and Cole Sprouse as the little boys (aka Frankenstein) from Big Daddy

Easily the most successful duo of this bunch, Dylan and Cole went on to become the highest paid Disney stars through the show The Suite Life of Zach & Cody.  They must have the Olsen twins’ manager, because not only are they racking up $40, 000 an episode, they’ve also started a clothing line, book series, and magazine.  As if that wasn’t enough for their already sparkling resume, they too are headed to NYU in the fall.

3. Jonathan Lipnicki as the little boy in Jerry Maguire and Stuart Little

He was the cute little brainy kid along side Tom Cruise, now he’s just got a mohawk and an awkward nose.  Within the past few years, he’s done a couple guest performances for shows like Monk and Family Guy.  Nothing major. However, he’s said to mainly be focusing on independent films at the moment.  Is that industry-speak for “bad economy”?

4. Lorenzo and Nikolas Brino as Sam and David Camden as the fraternal twin boys on 7th Heaven

These two have completely dropped off the face of the earth.  Though their public image went the way of 7th Heaven,  they do have a Facebook group, which I recommend everyone “Like”.

5. Ben Savage as Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World

Who didn’t love Cory Matthews?  I dare you to answer that with anything but an uproarious “He was the best!” Apparently this kid had smarts in addition to acting chops, seeing as how he graduated from Stanford with a degree in Political Science.  Sadly, he never ran for president, opting instead to continue pursuing his acting career.  He’s made a bunch of guest appearances in TV shows including, most recently, Without a Trace. Currently, he’s filming Doesn’t Texas Ever End. Here’s hoping his career doesn’t. Do I smell a Boy Meets World movie?!

6. Henry Thomas as Elliott in E.T.

Come on!  He’s the little brother from Brad Pitt’s epic Legends of the Fall!  Just pieced that together, and quite honestly, my mind is blown.  While most of these other actors’ careers took a dip after the ’90s, Mr. Thomas here went on to appear in over 40 films, most recently the blockbuster hit Dear John. (Editor’s Note: Wait, there was someone else in that movie besides Channing Tatum??)

7. Taran Noah Smith as the youngest brother from Home Improvement

Ever heard the phrase, “If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me”?  Well, that applies here.  This guy’s bio is so bizarre and unbelievable, I almost refuse to believe it’s true (but a little sleuthing proved everything to be factual). Here’s the scoop: when he was 17-years-old Taran married a woman 16 years his senior.  Weird, right?   So the new couple moved to Kansas where they opened a non-dairy cheese manufacturing company.  Totally standard, right?  Then, once he gained control of his trust fund from Home Improvement he accused his parents of squandering it.  Pretty par for the course in Hollywood.  Then, to cap it all off, his wife informed him she preferred women to men.  In 2007, the bank foreclosed on Smith’s home.  The marriage was annulled in 2009.  After a messy legal battle over the companies the couple co-owned, the child star is said to have reconciled with his parents. Where’s E! True Hollywood Story when you need them, eh?

8. Danny Tamberelli as Little Pete in The Adventures of Pete & Pete

Not only is the theme song from Pete and Pete stored safely in my iTunes library (it’s “Hey Sandy” by Polaris, if you were wondering), but this show will forever be in my heart.  They were brothers with the same name, the mom had a metal plate in her head, there were amazing guest stars (Selma Blair, LL Cool J, Iggy Pop).  What’s not to love!?  The younger ginger brother, Danny Tamberelli, starred in a commercial for Wendy’s hamburgers in 2006.  He’s also a bassist/vocalist for a couple obscure bands and a member of the sketch comedy group “Man Boobs: Sketchy Comedy,” which is fitting currently working on a pilot intended for television.  Fingers crossed that that comes to fruition.  Seeing his all-grown-up face alone drives me to pee my pants, I can’t imagine what would happen if he started cracking jokes.

9. Tahj Mowry as Teddy, or Michelle’s best friend, on Full House

I always feared that he’d never emerge from the shadow of a double dose of twins- his older sisters, Tia and Tamara; and those crazy Olsens.  Tahj proved that, like Cher and cockroaches, he can make it through anything.  He has been largely involved with the Disney Channel since his Full House days, most notably as the voice of Wade in the animated series Kim Possible. Most recently, he’s been seen in the film Are We Done Yet?, in an episode of Desperate Housewives, and in a few episodes of The Game. Here’s hoping we can see him in even bigger rolls.  Like a Full House revival… Dare to dream.

10. Jason James Richter as Jesse from Free Willy

Let me just say, of all these cool little dudes, Jesse made my heart beat faster than a junkie’s.  Maybe it was his brief streak as a juvenile delinquent, maybe it was his sad orphan story, maybe it was his pet killer whale…I really couldn’t tell you.  All I know is that Free Willy played at least three times a day in my house.  Regarding Jason James Richter’s current whereabouts, as recently as 2009 Richter played “Clown # 2″ in an episode of Bones. Currently, he devotes his time as a bassist for a band called “Fermata.”  And he’s totally ugly.  Just throwin’ that out there.

Our elementary school days were filled with lazy after-school sessions of TV surfing; all those wholesome family shows chock full of life lessons, physical comedy and a happy ending. We were addicted to the Full House family and all the hilarious mishaps of Tim the Tool Man Taylor. We couldn’t wait to see who Joey Potter chose each week on Dawson’s Creek and, though we’d never admit it, we even tuned in to see what crazy villain the Power Rangers took down every Saturday.

We were innocent little children soaking up the entertainment.

But we’re not so innocent anymore. Now we’re hormone raging college girls and, looking back, our favorite childhood shows were overflowing with serious male hotness. Hotness that we’d like to go back in time and get naughty with… if we had a DeLorean.

If I had these sort of inappropriate thoughts back in the day, my mother never would have let me watch Family Matters alone in my room.

Ryder Strong on Boy Meets World

He is the quintessential bad boy. Rocky childhood, from the “other side of the tracks,” rebelling all through school. How can we resist? We love his unpredictable antics and how he cleaned up his act and made his way to college. We’d throw a couple spitballs at Feeney to land a spot right under him in after school detention.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas on Home Improvement

That raspy voice, the almost too-perfect-to-be-true dreamboat face of his, the long rugged (almost mullet-y) blonde hair, and that freakin’ smile that melts us into a puddle in front of the TV set. If I knew then what I know now, I’d totally have shacked up with this one in his scary basement bedroom.

Stephan (Steve Urkels smokin’ alter ego on Family Matters)

We’re not going to lie – when Urkel stepped into that machine and came out Stephan we might have wet ourselves a little. It was pee pee back then, but I can’t say the same thing for now.

Steve on Full House

He was so dopey, we were embarrassed for him. But as long as he keeps his mouth shut, I’m all for that voluminous, wavy hair and strong chin. When we watch the big break up scene now (yeah, we watch the reruns every day), we are screaming for him to rebound right into our wide-open legs arms.

Pacey from Dawson’s Creek

No matter how hard he tried, things never seemed to go his way; we feel for Pacey and would like to console him by gifting him our bodies. The caring, sensitive guy, masked under a tough, sarcastic exterior gets us every time. Joey’s a wet noodle, Pacey; your perfect woman is right over here.

Tommy Oliver, aka The Green Ranger

He looked damn good in that green spandex and he would kick ass for his woman anytime. Those broad shoulders, the slicked back pony tail…I’d like to do a little Mighty Morphing with him. Go Go Power Rangers!

Full House reunion!!

Dear PMS:

Why?
Just why?

Who do you think you are? I mean really. You come around once a month like that annoying friend you don’t really want to hear from, yet every month, without fail, she asks you for plans and you feel sort of obligated. So you give in, but then coffee turns into an all day shopping ordeal and by the end you want to tear your hair out because now not only did you learn that you can’t stand the person you are with, but  – bonus lesson! – you learned that eating cookies DOES in fact equal having to buy a size up in your jeans.

Well that’s how I feel with you. Only instead of a day, it’s 5 and the only person I can’t stand to be around is myself. (The part of the too-tight jeans rings true thanks to you making me feel the urge to eat a bag of something salty, which of course leads me to want something sweet, which then of course leads me to want a tuna sandwich. I know! I don’t get it either!)

You make me weepy. I cry at Disney commercials (true story) and when the cheesy music comes on as the lesson is learned at the end of Full House. Strike that – you make me actually want to watch Full House.

You make my boobs hurt so much that I have to wear two sports bras to workout…and one to sleep. I can’t even put a shirt on without wincing in pain; forget sleeping on my stomach. Or, I don’t know, letting a boy anywhere near them.

You make my skin revert back to its 13 year old ways. Do you remember what its like to be 13, PMS? Do you? I don’t think you do, because if you did then you would vividly remember the time that cute boy Josh Schwartz asked me why Mount Everest decide to relocate to my face because, in his opinion, Mt. Everest was doing just fine where it was and that I should be in an advertisement for Clearasil. That would be reason enough to never ever give me a pimple again. But noooo – even in my young adult life, every month you feel the need to sprout a pimple right in the center of my face. And not just any pimple – you prefer the special giant kind that starts from underneath and is more painful than any period cramp in the history of cramps.  (Don’t even get me started on those.)

You make me moody – probabaly because I look like sh*t and my pants don’t button – but either way I’m a total bitch to the rest of the world. And the worst part is: I realize I’m doing it. Inside my head I say, “Jill stop being such a moody bitch,” but then word vomit – the bitch version – takes over and everything mean and insensitive and downright bitchy just comes out.

I mean, I get it – they (my mother) say you are really a gift because not only do I know for sure that I’m not popping one out in 9 months, but you are also preparing me for childbirth. That the cramps are really a blessing because they are preparing me for contractions. That I should embrace mother nature and say “No means NO” to Advil and instead say “Hollerrrr!” to an amazing experience that will one day be a baby’s head coming out of my Vagina.

But I. don’t. care. I saw Knocked Up and I am already in therapy for it, so give me a freaking break. Much like the annoying drunk, the needy girl and the chick who always ditches her friends for her boyfriend, you are one friend I can definitely do without.

They are always exciting and romantic and make me weak in the knees. Well, the ones with people I like, at least. I’m not counting those drunken makeout sessions with some creeper who attacks you out of nowhere while you’re enjoying a night out with the girls.

The first kiss is a pivotal moment in any relationship. After waiting forever (be it weeks, days, minutes…), wondering if he/she wants to kiss you as much as you want to kiss him/her, your lips finally meet and it’s all fireworks and passionate background music.

….Or slobbering sounds and teeth knocking into eachother.

Yeah, we may all want that romantic first kiss scene that we’ve seen in all our favorite movies (Slumdog Millionaire) and TV shows (Full House…with the “ooooo”s coming from the fake live audience), but there are a lot of really bad kissers out there. And somehow we keep finding them.

The question is: is a bad kiss enough to turn you off completely? Does a little (ok, a lot of) drool cancel out the great conversation, cute eyes and fact that he actually brought you flowers? Or is that something that can be worked on?
