While guys love ranking foreign and domestic beer, I love ranking foreign and domestic men. Which is why the Cannes Film Festival is my favorite time of year. Gorgeous men from near and far come together (in tuxedos!) to look into my soul the camera and look super fine. And even though Carey Mulligan tried to subvert my stalking by standing in front of every. camera. in the country of France (seriously, where did this girl come from?), I was able to round up a few choice shots of Cannes’ finest.
Ryan Gossling has left his Notebook days far behind, but thankfully retained that scruffy, wanna-jump-him-in-the-rain quality we all loved so much. For those of you who prefer your guys tall, dark, and aged to perfection, look no further than Javier Bardem. Though Penelope Cruz has already called dibs, you can still dream. Also on the list are Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, who will woo you in languages you can’t even understand; Shia LaBeouf; French hottie Gaspard Ulliel; Pharrell Williams; and a mustachioed Josh Brolin.
It’s Monday. You’re tired, over-worked and coming down from a Skittles high. So just sit back, relax, and take in a little Cannes culture. [Click on the picture to get some more of that sweet, sweet lovin'.] Read More »

We’re back with another edition of G.W.W.E. (Guys We Wanna Eff)!
Swine flu, the rapidly-spreading illness making headlines across the globe, is probably Mexico’s least popular export at the moment. But let’s talk about my faaaavorite producto de Mexico, Gael Garciá Bernal, whose new film The Limits of Control opens today. Yeow!
The guapo Guadalajaran first caught my attention in Y Tu Mamá También, which is seriously the steamiest movie I’ve ever seen. Gael plays one of two teen boys who have sex with every woman under the sun and eventually take part in a thrilling three-way with a sensual, twenty-something woman (why wasn’t that me!?). While his character was supposed to be young, Gael’s physique alluded to the chiseled heartthrob he would soon become.
Bernal has also starred in the mega-hit biopic The Motorcycle Diaries, about the Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara, whose iconic face adorns many a hipster t-shirt. (Honestly, I’m as enthusiastic for socio-economic reforms as the next gal, but I’d much rather see Gael’s stunning visage on my cotton tee.) But if foreign films aren’t your forte, definitely catch Gael in The Science of Sleep, an indie cult favorite which…okay, it has a bit of French and Spanish in it, too, but accents and foreign tongues are just oh so effable, no? Let’s be honest, there are a plethora of crappy movies out there. “Daddy Day Camp” or “I Know Who Killed Me”, anyone? Thankfully for us, cinema genius Michel Gondry does not produce movies of such low quality. The genius behind the cinematography in Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind has just released a trailer for his upcoming film, “Be Kind Rewind”.
Although “Be Kind Rewind” is aimed at a more mainstream audience than Gondry’s last film, “The Science of Sleep”, the trailer seems to indicate that it will be an inevitable success. In fact, the movie seems to be a complete turnaround from “The Science of Sleep”, a film with relatively unknown actors (besides the lovely Gael Garcia Bernal) and an ambiguous plot. Read More »
