Lady Gaga has closed down the fifth floor of the Barneys New York Men’s Shop on Madison Avenue and, in EIGHT days, those doors will reopen to Gaga’s Workshop. She’s reported to sell “jewelry made entirely of rock candy; lipsticks in special Gaga red or pink hues; lip-shaped, hand-painted dark chocolate, and a Rubik’s Cube.” I’m guessing it’s not a normal Rubik’s Cube though—maybe it’s made out of latex or it sings “The Edge of Glory” once you’re super close to solving it. Lady Gaga convincingly cross dresses for the September issue of Japanese Vogue, leaving many wondering if there is yet some fact behind those penis rumors. (Fact: she makes a better looking dude than a lady.) One man who might be interested in sleuthing around Gaga’s intimates for answers is England’s infamous panty thief, Ian Stafford.  The former mayor and hobbit-like creature of a man was nabbed for breaking into women’s homes and stealing their underwear….how charming.

Another upright citizen of note is Anna Chapman, real-life Russian spy.  She’s also heading to jail, though her crimes include stealing information from policymakers, handing off sketchy bags of cash, and bringing back the invisible ink craze of 1998.  Finally, Twilight: Eclipse released this week, reminding everyone that Twi-hards are a scary group of people.  Read as one girl tries to rationalize her obsession with all things pale and sparkly.

I used to be an avid Lady Gaga fan. She was quirky, and her music was catchy. I even loved her strange sense of style, telling my friends how awesome it was to finally have a true performer on the music scene. Her music videos, although weird, I tolerated, saying it was what made her, her.

Now, however, I can’t appreciate Lady Gaga for the artist she is.
And with all the bells, whistles, and the generally over-the-top antics, I don’t see how anyone can.

It always goes like this: A new Gaga song comes out and I love it, dance to it, rock out to it with the windows down in the car. I’ll be excited about the release of a new music video. And then said video comes out… and it’s confusing.

Did you guys tune into the ten minute (already infamous) Lady Gaga and Beyonce video for “Telephone?”  I know I did, and that shiz was cah-razy.  Two days upon debuting on You Tube,  the video has racked in 13 million views, and there are already rumors flying of MTV banning the video from their network.

Too risky for you, MTV? A little too much butt cheek?

Wait a good minute; how is this video any worse than an episode of The Real World? Those crazy kids might not be wrapped in caution tape, but they’ve been getting belligerently drunk/starting brawls/effing in the hot tub for almost 20 years now. And that stuff is reality. The Grammy red carpet is probably my favorite of the season.  Though attendees of the Golden Globes and Oscars are better dressed overall, those at the Grammys bring the good, the bad and the outrageous (and the booze).  The dramatic dressers of the music industry bring out their weird and wonderful performance-esque outfits, blurring the line between stage-worthy and red carpet-appropriate.

If you’ve ever wondered what an acid trip was like, Lady Gaga’s latest music video seems like a pretty close match. Seriously, this thing is freaking me out. It’s like Girl Talk mashed up a Gaga song and a drug-fueled mini-porn… then threw in a little couture fashion product placement (Burberry jacket, Alexander McQueen shoes, Chanel sunglasses…) for a little extra cash on the side.

I’m really not sure what’s going on here, but I do know that the person behind this 5 minutes of freakiness is on something illegal. And it’s really, really good ish.

I mean, no sane and sober person could come up with a bear-skin dress…or Gaga shooting a corpse with her left breast. God, those are words I never thought I’d string together in a single sentence.

Just watch and you’ll understand the madness. Well, not the madness but at least you’ll see what I’m talkin’ about.

The other night my mom called me to ask about some singer (“GooGoo? FaFa?”) that was performing on TV with “panty hose on OVER her thong! I could see her butt!” I kindly explained to my mother that her name is Lady Gaga (“Mother, it’s Gaga. GAGA!!”) and that maybe that was just a costume for that particular performance.

But then I went online to avoid listening to my boring Physics lecture to check out some of Lady Gaga’s jams and realized that this girl really hates wearing pants. I mean, she never wears them. Not just for performances – never. Not on the streets, not at parties… ne-ver. It’s like that bad Britney phase.

I mean, the girl has killer legs, but this is a little O.O.C. (Out of control, people; keep up!) She’s getting dangerously close to camel-toe land. I swear, “Just Dance” should be called “Just (Take Off Your Pants and) Dance,” or “Just Dance With Your Goodies Hanging Out.” Although those wouldn’t have quite the same ring.
