[Besides being the month of St. Patrick's Day and CollegeCandy's editor's birthday, March is Women's History Month. Instead of honoring the great women of our past, however, we at CC want to honor the women they inspired and who now inspire us. Every Wednesday this month we are going to highlight a woman who is currently dominating her field and showing us that we can really do anything. Like Chelsea Handler, the woman of late night comedy. Or Kathryn Bigelow, this year's best director. These women are strong, powerful, famous, and doing their thing even better than their male counterparts, so let's give them the attention they deserve!]

I remember lying in my bedroom and listening to No Doubt’s “Tragic Kingdom” on repeat for days at a time. I remember how excited I was when my dad surprised me with 4 tickets to the show for me and my friends. I remember watching Gwen Stefani rock out on stage in neon pants with suspenders and knowing, at that moment, that I wanted to be just like her. And that was before she became a rock superstar, solo artist, fashion designer and really awesome mom.

Now, 10 years later, I don’t have her voice, her talent, or her ability to wear crop tops (my abs are a little looser than Ms. Stefani’s….yes, even after her two children), but I am even more inspired by this Jack(ie) of all trades. And here are five reasons I salute Ms. Gwen Stefani:

1. She’s Got Staying Power
Gwen Stefani first hit the music scene in No Doubt in 1986 (!!). Together with the band, she’s sold 26 millions albums, won 2 Grammy’s and 5 MTV VMAs. And if that wasn’t enough, she defied the odds and became an instant success as a solo artist (which, as we’ve seen, doesn’t always work – I’m looking at you, Nicole Sherzinger). And 24 years later, she’s still just as popular, relevant, talented and successful as ever.

2. She’s a Savvy Business Woman
These days everyone in Hollywood is trying to start their own clothing line, fragrance line, acting career, etc. But while most fail (remember J-Lo’s designs? No? I prove my point), Gwen Stefani is thriving. She’s got an incredibly successful and respected clothing line (L.A.M.B) that is seen on runways and starlets worldwide and a less expensive but equally successful line of merchandise and perfume (Harajuku Lovers) based on her own style. Oh, and did you know she was nominated for a SAG award for her work in Martin Scorcese’s, The Aviator? Yup, Gwen cannot fail.

3. She’s got a rock solid family.
Even though Gwen Stefani is one busy lady (she’s running multiple empires, after all), she still manages to spend quality time on her family life. She’s been married to uber hottie singer Gavin Rossdale for 8 years, an eternity in the music biz, and is known for putting her kids, Kingston and Zuma, first before anything else.

4. She’s got style.
Gwen Stefani has been setting trends since she rocked the bindi and bikini top in her No Doubt days. And now, a busy mom of two, she’s perfected her rocker-chic personal style and proves that there’s always time to look good. Girlfriend’s got it going on whether she’s performing, working the red carpet or playing at the park with the kiddies. If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is.

5. She’s grounded.
Don’t tell me you wouldn’t want to spend a day hanging out with Gwen Stefani. She’s just such a cool chick. Even after all this time in “the business” and her tremendous success, she’s still just a girl (sorry, had to do it). Stefani has worked hard for everything she’s gotten in life and that simple fact keeps her feet on the ground.

Since Tragic Kingdom, my girl crush on Gwen has only grown.  She’s rocked steady alongside No Doubt since 1986, despite her relationship with band mate Tony Kanal ending, proving that you can remain friends with your exes.  No Doubt continued to pump out hits, until they hit a rough patch with their fourth album, Return of Saturn.  Between this and recording Rock Steady, Gwen appeared on tracks for Moby and Eve – the beginning of her career separate from No Doubt.

With the help of band mate and former flame, Gwen decided to release a solo, dance record.  The result was bananas (b-a-n-a-n-a-s) – Love. Angel. Music. Baby. was a hit, selling over 300,000 copies in it’s first week out.  With the launch of her music career, came the arrival of Gwen’s Harajuku Girls.  While their inability to talk in public is a little odd, these ladies are very talented dancers.

Gwen has won awards for both her work with No Doubt, and her solo career.  She’s won three Grammys; two with No Doubt for Underneath it All and Hey Baby; one for her first collaboration with Eve – Let Me Blow Ya Mind. She’s also won numerous MTV Video Music Awards and Teen Choice Awards – proving this women has talent.

And not just with music.

Drawing from her unique style as inspiration, Gwen has produced two clothing lines.  The first, L.A.M.B., is a high fashion line that can be seen on the runways during New York fashion week.  Her lower-end line, Harajuku Lovers, is  more casual, and often features cartoon pictures of Gwen and her Harajuku girls. I love them both almost as much as the woman herself. Hell, if I can’t actually be Gwen Stefani, at least I can dress like her.

Happy (almost) Father’s Day! We know you guys aren’t dads (and if there are any dads reading this, well, that’s just sorta icky), but you are most likely celebrating one. Just because you’re showering your dad with gifts of bacon and neckties, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a little somethin’ somethin’ for yourself.

So we’re bringing you the hottest celebrity dads around. Because while it may be gross to think of your dad as a hottie (OMG…can’t….get…that…image….out…of….my….head….), it’s totally fine to celebrate the hotness that is the Celebrity DILF.

What we wouldn’t give to have these guys bounce us on their knee for a few. Come to mama!

Celebrity parents are just like the rest of our parents… except of course they’re famous, loaded (have fun with that wordplay), and gasp, even more likely to give their kids a complex. Particulary if, say, your mommy is famous because your grandpa could croon with the best of them in the ’80s, and she and Lindsay Lohan had matching ankle bracelets.

Sure, socially aware Brangelina are collecting children like Britney is psych evaluations, but the rest of celebdom is keeping to moderation and handling themselves as gracefully as the paparazzi allow them. Since growing up in the spotlight seems to be a little intense, it’s impressive that Nicole and Joel Madden have delved into parenthood without causing too big a scene. “Harlow Winter Kate” is only moderately ridiculous, and will surely get less taunting than the Apple of Gwyneth’s eye.

Let’s just hope Paris doesn’t catch on to the pregnancy trend anytime soon…

But lately, ever since No Doubt as all-but-confirmed a full-blown reunion, Gwen has committed a mighty fashion crime that I hope does not catch on (which is exactly how I feel about the Cloggens).

The Boyfriend Jeans.

First defined by the girls at Go Fug Yourself, Boyfriend Jeans are five sizes larger than they should be, ratty, torn-up and unflattering. Maybe they’re supposed to be all “weathered” and trendy, but the difference between Distressed Jeans and Boyfriend Jeans is that these babies look like your man should be wearing them instead of you.

It seems that Gwen has not one, but two pairs of Boyfriend Jeans, or, in her case, Husband Jeans. And what goes better with your husband’s pants, then a shirt with his face on it? NOTHING!

We all get it, Gwen. Gavin is hot. Your baby is adorable. It’s soooo cute that you’re wearing Gavin’s pants, while holding your baby, while wearing Gavin’s face on your shirt, but please – you lost your pregnancy weight for a reason. Plus, are the Boyfriend Underwears necessary? Do the jeans have to be so ill-fitting that they have to peek out from the waist and get all bunchy? What’s up with that!?!

Show off that body so girls don’t copy this look, don’t sell Boyfriend Jeans at L.A.M.B and please don’t leave boyfriends across the country pantsless.

Hmmm….on second thought, maybe that wouldn’t be so bad….if they happen to look like Gavin, that is.
