Ask a Dude: How Do I Make Him Trust Me Again?

Dear Dude,

I need the perspective of a man. Please help. My boyfriend and I have in a LDR for the past year because he’s studying abroad. Four months ago, I broke up with him for stupid reasons and I thought he would never take me back so I got drunk out of my mind and ended up hooking up with his best friend. I know, that’s the most horrible thing I could do and I felt like sh*t.

My boyfriend did try to get back together with me, however, we’re now going through a rough patch because he says he can’t get over the fact that I hooked up with his friend. I told him that it wasn’t because I liked his best friend – I was drunk and I emotionally messed up. I told him that I did it because I regretted breaking up with him and that I tried to fill that void by giving pleasure to someone else, and that it was a mistake. He said it didn’t matter; I hooked up with his best friend and he doesn’t know if he can ever get over it.

Dude, I don’t know what to do. I can’t take back what I did, and no reason I give my boyfriend will make him feel better. I love him and I know that if it wasn’t his best friend, he wouldn’t feel this hurt and I wouldn’t regret it so much. My boyfriend says he loves me and wants to stay together but doesn’t believe we can work out because it haunts him. Is there any hope for us?

Please help,

Ask a Dude: Should I Wait Around for My Ex?

Hey Dude,

I just broke up with my boyfriend of more than 6 months (who keeps count these days anyway?), and it’s been a rough time. Mostly, I think, neither one of us wanted to break up but we had been growing apart for sometime. New changes in his life prompted him to cut the cord, and we went our separate ways…kind of. In reality, as soon as things were officially over (I’m talking next day here), he and I went back to normal. We started texting nonstop again, calling a few times a day just “because this song reminded me of you,” or because “you’re going to die of laughter when you hear about my dinner mishap.”

Aside from the fact that we were no longer together absolutely NOTHING had changed… It’s as though all of the pressure of a formal relationship was suddenly off and we were that fun and exciting couple again…minus the couple.

I think you should know that we haven’t had to face the issue of hooking up yet because he lives in a land far far away (but really only like an hour and some change) so I don’t know how that little taboo will work out when we next see each other.

Now, I never wanted us to break up, I just wanted us to take some time to cool off and reconnect. So, as you can imagine after how well things have been going, I want us to be together again. Is this silly, is it time to start getting over him or should I continue to cling to the hope that it’s all going to work out?

Tuffy Luv Says: Take Two On That Relationship

woman-thinking

Got a question? Email Tuffy Luv at TuffyLuv@collegecandy.com and get that shiz answered right.

Dear Tuffy Luv,

I dated this guy who I thought was it for 2 years, but I ultimately ended it because he moved away and our relationship became strained and our communications broke down. We planned on seeing where things would go when he came back, but before that happened, we got into a big fight about past things that I thought were non-issues.

We stopped talking for almost a year, but then right before the summer started I began thinking about him more and more. and then ran into him while at his neighbor’s place. We texted each other that day and said that we’re both over all the issues that started the fight. It has been a week since then, and I can’t stop thinking about him. It has caused me to have a lack of sleep, and a lot of stress.

What should I do?

Thanks,
