This month’s Seventeen cover was completely unlike any other I’ve ever seen. You see, normally the covers include one headline about how to look CUTE!, another about how to look NATURALLY PRETTY, and one that’s included to entice scandal-seeking teens (previous examples: “The Real Deal About Porn.” ) All of these headlines are generally splashed in neon colors over the smiling face of a tween celebrity who completely fascinates me (previous examples: Leighton Meester, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez).

This month however, was different.

This month, Seventeen did one article about looking CUTE, one about looking NATURALLY PRETTY, and one about being videotaped topless (my need for scandal is soooo satiated.) Only this time, the cover girl was someone I know very little about: Miranda Cosgrove. So after getting past my disappointment about the lack Gossip Girl cast members in this month’s issue, I started to flip through.

First I saw this cute Material Girl top which I considered buying – until I saw the picture’s caption: “Miley would totally wear this.” Yeah man, I flipped that page reaaaallll quick, at which point I came upon something pleasantly surprising. Despite the fact that I have issues pronouncing her last name, I have a huge girl crush on Hayden Panettiere.

Hayden has been around for awhile – starring in commercials at 11 months old, stealing the show at 11-years-old in Remember the Titans, and making appearances on The Guiding Light and One Life to Live – but my crush developed while watching her as Clare on Heroes, one of the kick-ass female leads. While Hayden may not have the ability to heal herself or run through fire in real life, she has shown herself to be a pretty kick-ass lady.

Hayden is an active animal-rights advocate.  She’s been arrested in Japan for interfering with a dolphin hunt, proving she’s not all talk.  On top of her work for animals, Hayden was also vocal during the 2008 election.  She was a strong supporter of Obama, though she encouraged young people to get out and vote before all else.

Like many celebs these days, Hayden has dealt with a lot of gossip and criticism. Who doesn’t remember when,   shortly after her 18th birthday, Hayden and co-star Milo Ventimiglia (who’s last name I also cannot pronounce), came out as an item? Normally this would have been in the tabloids based on the fact they are co-workers, but Hayden took an even bigger blow seeing as Milo is also 12 years her senior.

I’m suffering from major Gossip Girl withdrawal.  Mainly because it means I don’t get to see the lovely Blake Lively grace the screen each week as the socialite Serena van der Woodsen. I’ll just have to Netflix Season 1 on DVD to get me through the summer months…

I’ve been crushing on Blake long before she was getting herself into trouble (while donning the most delectable duds) as Gossip Girl’s bad-girl-gone-good(ish). My crush developed when Blake played the blonde-bombshell, soccer-playing Bridget in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Back then, Blake was fresh out of high school. She was young and unknown and I found myself wanting to be her.

She’s gotten a little older and has a few new roles under her belt, but my adoration for her has not wavered.

Despite growing up in Hollywood, Blake is a good girl.  You don’t see her out partying it up or doing drugs in the bathroom, and she has yet to be arrested. Though, if Gossip Girl is any indication, she’d have one hot mugshot! The main rumors circulating about her (and there are very few) involve rivalry on the GG set. Anyone who knows me know that I have a weak spot for funny people. Like, really, really ridiculously funny people. If you can’t make me laugh, then I want nothing to do with you. On the flipside, if you can make me ROFL, there’s a place in my bed heart for you.

And if your name is Amy Poehler, I’ll even share dessert with you (and I don’t share dessert with anyone).

I’ve been crushing on Amy hardcore since her early days on SNL. Amy’s quick wit and perfect timing proved once and for all that women don’t have to be ugly or lesbians to be successful comedians, and I tuned in every Saturday night to get my weekly dose of Poehler. She made a name for herself almost immediately, and was probably the only cast member who could fill Tina Fey’s shoes…er…chair on Weekend Update.

But Amy Poehler isn’t just an improv genius; the woman can act and has found herself in some of the best comedies everrr. Remember her infamous role in Mean Girls? How could you not? What about Wet Hot American Summer? Or Deuce Bigalow?  Amy stole the show and put those movies on the top of my “Best Movies to Watch While Stoned” list.  Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I found out about her NBC show, Parks and Recreation. And she didn’t disappoint.

Part of me wants to hate Amy Poehler for stealing my Hollywood boyfriend, Will Arnett, but I can’t. In fact, if I was gonna lose my future hubbie to anyone, I’m glad it was someone as talented, beautiful and effing hilarious as her. I just hope that one day I can get in on that shiz. A threesome with Poehler and Arnett? Probably the only thing better than an Arrested Development marathon.

It’s no secret that I have a soft spot for Aussies, and the lovely Isla Fisher is no exception. Even if she’s a lady.

While the Australian accent is always a turn-on, what really gets me weak in the knees is someone who can make me laugh…and matzoh ball soup.

Isla, then, is perfect for me. The woman has to have a sense of humor – she’s engaged to Sacha Baron Cohen, after all.  And, after three years, she has successfully pulled a “Charlotte” and converted to Judaism for her man.

Oy vay.

But Isla was around long before she started celebrating Hanukkah with her guy. She was a child actor on popular Australian television shows way before she graced us with her presence alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. in Scooby Doo.  Since then, she’s come a long way. Her role as the crazy sex fiend sister in Wedding Crashers won her a Breakthrough Performance award at the MTV Movie Awards and, more recently, she was in Definitely, Maybe and lent her voice to Horton Hears a Who.

A hot Australian who also does cartoons? Be still my heart.

Isla Fisher is as hot as her fiery red hair.  In 2008 she was #61 on Maxim’s Hot 100. And despite being near naked in that little photo spread, the woman’s fashion sense is what gets me riled up.  I’m jealous of all the fashion-forward outfits created for her character in Confessions of a Shopaholic, not that I could afford them. But what I can afford is Isla’s laid back style that’s easy to  imitate (even on a starving student’s budget). Now if only I could get my hair that color…

Isla is living proof that you can have it all.  She has a successful career, a fiance who she obviously hearts (she spent 3 years converting for him!), and an adorable daughter – not to mention she looks stunning while doing it all. I’m totally crushing on Isla Fisher.

I have been following Beyonce (and by “following,” I mean, “covering my wall/locker with her posters”) ever since I heard her song “Say My Name.” From the days of Destiny’s Child in the late 1990s to her new hot hit “Single Ladies,” she has been sharing her talent for more than fifteen years!

Talent that is clearly recognized. Over the course of her career, Beyonce has been nominated for a total of 186 awards, and received 78.  From the Teen Choice Awards to the Glamour Magazine Woman of the Year to the Grammys, she has won it all. Including my heart.

My love has been strong for Lady B forever, but after seeing her new movie, Obsessed, I am, well, obsessed. Now, not only is she my favorite singer, famous female, and person in general, she is on the top of my list of actresses. Her performance was intense and believable, proving that, unlike so many people in Hollywood, Beyonce really can do it all.  And it turns me on (in a non sexual way, of course…).

But talent can really only take you so far, and it is the person Beyonce is on the inside that totally has me crushing. We all know that she’s gorgeous -  her perfect complexion, big beautiful hair, long lanky legs and eyes that pop out at you instantly draw everyone in. Since her debut on the ridiculous reality series The Simple Life in 2003, Nicole Richie has been one of the most intriguing socialites to watch. Soon after entering the celebrity sphere, she was arrested for possession of heroin while driving with a suspended license. Three years later, she was detained for driving down a California highway in the wrong direction (high on Vicodin and marijuana… oops?) and slammed with a DUI.

Now, she is the mother of one (and expecting a second), the designer of a vintage jewelry line, and longtime girlfriend to Good Charlotte rocker, Joel Madden. With a loosely autobiographical novel under her belt and a small role in the recent hit movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Richie seems to have made it big.

Talk about a turnaround.

Who was voted “The Sexiest Woman Alive?” Oh yes, that would be my new girl crush, Jessica Biel. And for good reason. Not only is Ms. Biel really freaking sexy, but she plays it up with her uncanny ability to pull off any fashion look, from  “cute and casual” to “sexy in style.”

But the thing is, it never really looks like she’s trying. She’s got a very laid-back approach to fashion and always makes it look so easy. Jessica would much rather be wearing jeans and a t-shirt then get all dressed up in couture designs, but when she does, she still manages to make it all look so relaxed. Like she just rolled out of bed, smeared on a little lip gloss and slipped into the designer dress she just had hanging in the closet.

And she still looks breathtaking.

Maybe it’s because of that perfect body of hers. A body I think about when I’m lying on the ground avoiding my ab workout. A body that she works her booty off for instead of hopping on the Hollywood“I think I’ll just stop eating and sip a Venti Latte” bandwagon. When I’m not sitting around being insanely jealous of Heidi Klum, I’m crushing on her.

Obviously, I’m jealous because at 35, and having popped out three kids, Heidi still looks insanely hot naked.  We know her best as one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels.  She’s a supermodel, and always fabulously dressed.

But she’s not just a pretty face.  Heidi is also the host, a judge AND an executive producer for our fave reality show, Project Runway.  And it’s her role on Project Runway that has me crushing.  I mean, you totally want to hate someone as hot as Heidi, but you can’t once you see how cute and fun she is. Hell, I’ll watch PR even if it’s on Lifetime just to see her.

Now that’s devotion.

When she’s not working with Tim Gunn or starring in VS ads, Heidi is a mom.  And she looks damn good doing it, even if she hangs the heels and opts for a more casual look when she’s with the kids.  I love her for this, I mean, stilettos and children = trouble.  Ms. Klum proves that you can look good mommy-ing, which gives me hope for when I pop some out (in 30 years). Ever since her role in Juno, I’ve had an unhealthy crush on Ellen Page.

While she’s not as mainstream as our past girl crushes, this doesn’t make her any less deserving of the title.  In fact, it makes me love her more. My fellow Canuck obviously has talent – she was, after all, nominated for an Oscar.  She may not have won, but she was the fourth youngest actress to be nominated for the role, and that in itself is pretty darn impressive.

And the movie was awesome. I don’t know one person who can say they saw Juno and didn’t fall instantly in love with it. Ellen played the main character perfectly and even showcased her vocal skills on the soundtrack, which is as good (if not better) than the movie. Sure, the movie sparked controversy – being all pro-teen pregnancy and all – but that’s not Ellen’s fault. Maybe people should teach their kids about sex before they let them watch movies like this. Or watch Bristol Palin on TV.

But I digress. Back to my love, Ellen Page.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first or only movie Ellen has been in.  She totally kicked ass AND saved the day in X-Men: The Last Stand before she took on her dad’s new girlfriend while acing her SATs in Smart People.  She’s also been in Hard Candy, The Tracey Fragments, and An American Crime.
