Whether it’s Girl Scout Cookie off-season, you’re against preservatives or you just feel like baking something delicious and new, having homemade Girl Scout Cookie recipes on hand is always a good idea. Since I’m only a freshman, I don’t have a kitchen so I can’t yet get my Martha on. However, the second I move into a dorm for upperclassmen, I’m going to be all over these recipes. Watch out, future roommates: I’m coining the term Sophomore-15. If you are lucky enough to have an oven (or you’re going home at any time soon) I highly suggest you try out these recipes. Make them for your friends, crush, boyfriend, etc. and have them all fall in love with you instantly. Just don’t burn them, please. Read More »

Fall semester is in full swing and it’s starting to feel like you’re doing the same thing every week. Class. Study. Drink. Hangover. Poor Theme Party Costume Choice. Homework. Switch things up by taking advantage of a long weekend or your fall break (if you’re that lucky) by checking out our Weekend Getaway guides. We’ve already covered Boston, Toronto and Austin. Now, we wanna take you on a road less traveled (unless you’re Paula Deen)…to Savannah, Georgia.
To the young, curious child version of myself, Savannah, Georgia was synonymous with Girl Scouts —the scratchy uniform I hated, the vest that always seemed to have less badges than the rest of the other Brownie Scouts, and, of course, Girl Scout Cookies! Yum, I love those things!
However, that’s only one part of Savannah. Yes, Girl Scouts of America was founded there by Juliette Gordon Low and I’m sure visiting brings back many fond memories to the to former Girl Scout tourists. But, Savannah is filled with centuries of history, charm, and even some ghosts! If you’re looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of your college campus for a long weekend, head down to the ol’ South and check out quaint Savannah, Georgia!

I am usually not one to hate an entire group of people for the mistakes of one (except OSU students…I really do strongly dislike them all), but this time it’s different.
This time it involves food. And not just any food, peanut butter.
Peanut butter has been the one constant in my life over the past 4 years. When boys upset me, I turned to peanut butter on a spoon. When friends upset me, I turned to peanut butter mixed with vanilla ice cream. When my jeans got too tight from all that PB on a spoon/in ice cream, I turned to peanut butter Power Bars to fuel my workouts. And when I got sick of working out and instead wanted to numb the pain, I smoked some pot and then turned to PB and Cheese crackers.
Peanut butter was my friend when I was feeling lonely, and my support base when I needed it most.
And now those f**kers in Blakely, Georgia have gone and ruined it for me. According to news reports, the people of Blakely are behind this whole peanut butter emergency; their factory was full of bacteria (not to mention roaches) and they knew their products were testing positive for Salmonella…but shipped them out anyway. OMFG! Did you hear that it’s Girl Scout Cookie season!? Hell yeah! I walked past a table of those delectable little cookies cute little troopers yesterday on my way to class. And let’s just say I enjoyed a few (Ok, an entire box of) Tagalongs during a 2 hour lecture.
I don’t know who came up with these treats, but my hat is off to you!
There is something for everyone – even the health conscious out there. And you don’t even have to feel bad about eating them, because you are doing a good deed just by buying them! There are so many different kinds that I feel bad choosing a favorite (kinda like my parents…who obviously chose me), but I definitely have a soft spot in my heart – and on my ass – for the Peanut Butter Tagalongs. So. effing. good.
Which ones are your favorites? Read More »
