-“Easy A” premiered and, though it wasn’t what we were expecting, we’re kinda obsessed.

-We got to experience the UT shooting through the eyes of a CollegeCandy writer who was present (and thankfully safe and sound).

-The high school vs. college homecoming debate carried on strong.  Over-the-top “Will you go to homecoming with me?” gestures rivaled the low-budge face paint and a beer approach of university life.  But which won out?  That’s for you to decide.

-Our resident sorority girl took a break this week and let the CC Panhel board tell you why you should consider- and perhaps reconsider- going through rush.

-We found a new favorite show on television.  Helllloooo, James Wolk! But boo. It got canceled already.

-The CollegeCandy guide to surviving senior year made its debut.  Savor each one of those dollar beers, get your picture taken with the mascot, and always RSVP yes to Wino Wednesday…but don’t forget to balance work in there, too.

And that’s not all—we’re living in a world where wearing a miniskirt to class can get you expelled, for Pete’s sake. It’s enough to make you want to abandon college altogether. Here are some of the other things that have been worrying CC writers this week:

-       Gossip Girl’s ill-advised threesome. Was anyone else hoping that the ménage would turn out to be between Chuck, Blair, and a clone of Chuck?

-       What exactly is Google Wave, and does it mean that the robot revolution is coming sooner than we thought?

-       How long it’ll take to get off the waitlist at Rent the Runway, a website that promises to make all your fantasies come true.

-       You don’t have New Year’s Eve plans yet? What are you, some kind of social leper? It’s already a few weeks before Thanksgiving!

-       How to get out of oral without bruising his fragile male ego.

-       The “Bad Romance” video. What is Lady Gaga on?

-       How many beers you’ll have to drink before you can make this awesome bottle-cap table. Then again, maybe that’s actually something to be excited about.

Between homework, studying, group projects and partying, I really had a tough time managing my time in college. I was always looking for ways to make my life easier, and it always backfired on me. No matter what anyone says, Sparknotes is not an acceptable substitute for reading the book. You’re still not going to know the main character’s sister’s dog’s name. And your professor is always going to ask you for it.

But the good people at Microsoft must have heard my cries of pain and despair when they took it upon themselves to create their new program, Office Live Workspace. Not only does it let me store my documents and information online and let met access them anywhere from the Internet, but also, it’s FREE. So, when you’ve got a paper due in 12 minutes and your printer is out of ink, all you have to do is save that puppy to your personal online space, haul ass to the ‘brary, print it out and turn it in. Phew.

Even more amazing, Workspace takes the headache out of group projects because it has simplified the sharing process. Everyone in a group can access the latest edition of the document in a glorified, virtual “workspace” where they can collaborate, comment on and edit the same document. Without coordinating their super busy (or super “I don’t want to go to the library in the dead of winter to meet up with these losers”) schedules. Lord knows that’s the most annoying part of any group assignment (besides the a-hole who does nothing and gets the good grade…)

Microsoft’s new program inspired me to search for other ways to smooth out my path toward academic success. Along the way, I found a website dedicated to tips for the college student. CollegeTips.com is a survival guide that answers your questions from studying to managing money and managing time (so you can make it to that toga party Saturday night and get that paper done). CollegeTips supplies students with tips on how to get to know your professors, handle a double major, as well as test-taking strategies and exam tips. Not only that, though, CollegeTips will also advise you on the best way to do your laundry and how to find student ID discounts. And not to be forgotten, there are also tips on how best to pre-game parties and avoid hangovers. It’s a one-stop source for the best way to go about your complete college experience.

Lastly, I think everyone should become a member of Wiggio.com. Exciting features to take advantage of on the site are a shared calendar; ability to send mass messages via email, text or voice note; polling to get group members opinions; and a shared task list and document folder. Wiggio is a management tool that can help the busy and unorganized student get their life in order in one simple program.

While I can’t guarantee that these websites will keep you out of the library forever, they will cut down on the amount of all-nighters and shots of espresso. And if you get in a few more extra hours of sleep a night too, well I wouldn’t be surprised.

I’ve started preparing for my post graduation depression/emo stage. I’ve bought the tissue boxes and I’ve prepared the soundtrack (Seasons of Love on repeat). But I also made a proactive step of creating a list of things that I know I absolutely won’t miss- that way when I’m putting on my fifth layer of black eyeliner and tattooing tears on my face I’ll remember that there were some bad things about college.

STUDYING

I always start my studying with a lot of energy and excitement. I have blank flashcards stacked next to fresh pens and my unwrapped books. I put on my fake glasses and start poring over the material faster than I can highlight. Three minutes into this invigorating “studying” process I’m bored. I only have two more tests left and then I will never ever have to study ever again. Never again will I have to eat breakfast, check my e-mail, and simultaneously flip flashcards and mumble answers to myself.

GROUP PROJECTS

I’m currently in the process of making a student film with three of my (soon to be former) friends. It’s a disaster. Nothing is worse than four creative unorganized people who always think they’re right. I’m a control freak so I like to do things my own way and get things done on my own schedule. Whenever I complain to people about how much I hate group projects they always bring up that I will have to work “well” with people for the rest of my life. I disagree. Hermits never do group projects. And hermit is a new profession that I’m currently researching.

MY FURNITURE FROM THE PAST FOUR YEARS

When I did my Bed, Bath, and Beyond shopping spree four years ago my Mom kept saying, “I hope you love this stuff because you’re going to have it for the next four years.” I rolled my eyes at her and was like duh I’ll always want a neon pink trash can and a Hawaiian print bed spread. And now four years later I still do have all the same things that I came to college with so long ago (except for the whiteboard that someone drew a permanent marker penis on the 2nd night of college). I’m so sick of staring at my lime green shoe organizer and high school pictures (don’t even recognize those people anymore) and I’m insanely excited to start throwing all that stuff away.

MY LONG COAT

Syracuse is downright freezing and I’ve never regretted buying my floor-length coat that’s big enough to not only serve as my winter jacket but also as a well-insulated hour for four. However I now can’t stand the sight of it. I’m not sure what exactly I’m going to with it yet. I’m debating between turning it into a comforter for a king-sized bed or ripping it open and taking out all the down-feathers to make myself real wings. Either way I never want to see it ever again.

So while my list isn’t exactly complete yet (I still have to add a few people’s names) it’s definitely a start for my post-graduation-recovery.
