While hoodies don’t exactly have a rep for being fashionable, every girl has a few in her closet. They are pretty much THE staple in every college wardrobe since they are comfy, warm, and easily slip on over whatever you wore to bed last night. Even hardcore fashionistas have lazy days!

Since you most definitely have one (or 6) zip-ups in your closet, I’ll give you a few different ways to wear them so you look more casual cute and less “Holy sh*t I just woke up in my boyfriend’s room and I’m 20 minutes late for class so I’ll just borrow his clothes and run out of the door.”

Contrary to popular belief, that is not cute.

Hoodies are extremely versatile and as long as you get the fit right (read: fitted!), you can wear them with just about anything.

Try pairing a hoodie with skinny jeans and flats to keep it stylish. When comfort is your goal, look past the sweats and throw on a roomy pair of boyfriend jeans or gaucho pants instead. Swap slides, sandals or casual flats in for sneakers so you don’t look like you should be at the gym.

Yes, it’s that easy. Looking good in college doesn’t take time – you just need to pay attention to the way your stuff fits. And if you have a few good hoodies around, you’ll always be one pair of jeans away from a cute ‘fit for class.

This spring, fashion is all about variety in your wardrobe. Although bright colors are a must-have trend this year, mixing in some neutrals is also a fashion “do.” Instead of donning black, like you have been all winter, rock a nude garment instead. It is a lot fresher for the warm weather months, plus painfully chic and sexy. Showing a little skin without really showing any skin? H-O-T.

Afraid your skin will look washed out? Pair something nude with bright accessories, like the hot pink shoes and bag in the outfit below. And pass up things that are super tight for clothes that drape loosely – you don’t want to look like you’re actually nude.

If you’re not ready to go au naturale just yet, incorporate the trend with your accessories. Nude-colored heels and bags are also a popular trend this spring. Not only do they match practically everything, but a nude pump will elongate your legs giving you some Heidi Klum gams.

Here’s another tip for wearing nude: slather an illuminating moisturizing lotion, like Nivea Silky Shimmer, all over your arms and legs. This will keep your clothes from blending in with your skin completely.

Jumper dresses and jumpers are going to be go-to pieces for many fashionistas this fall. The trend is sweeping the nation from runways to hallways. It combines playfulness (remember how you used to wear the little kid versions in grade school?) with high fashion to create a perfect look for the new season.

Since layering is always big in the cold weather months, and they are so perfect for layering, this is definitely a piece you will want to incorporate into your wardrobe.

But what on earth do you wear with this trendy piece? Here are seven ways you can rock this look. You can work em alone, or try combining them for the ultimate in fall fashion:

1. Layer with a Turtleneck. Perfect for chilly days (or covering up a hickey), this look is very chic yet understated. The model wearing this Calvin Klein jumper (available at Nordstrom) pulls the look off perfectly.

2. Layer with a collared shirt: Adding a simple collared shirt under a jumper dress makes it look very mature and sophisticated without looking old lady-ish. Copy these looks from Urban Outfitters (left) and Guess (right).

3. Layer with a plain t-shirt: Pair a jumper, like this Sonia Rykiel dress from Nordstrom, with a plain t-shirt and you’ve got the perfect laid back yet fashion forward outfit to wear to class.

4. Layer with Black Tights: Keep your legs warm and dress up your jumper like the model in this ITW by Claude Brown dress from Bloomingdales. Perfect for a cold walk to class or night on the town.

5. Layer with Bright Tights: If you want to make a bolder statement, wear colored tights under a solid black jumper. My favorite colors for this look are blue and pink, but red or green tights also look awesome. This jumper and the tights are from Delia’s.

6. Pair it with the Perfect Shoe: Sophisticated pumps or flat boots complete this ensemble. Pumps look great with all styles, but boots should only be worn with the non-suspender styles. I love these lace up black pumps from Aldo, as well as these brown boots.

7. Layer with a Sweater: If you need something to layer over a jumper for extra warmth, a cardigan is definitely the way to go. It should be worn unbuttoned and it should be long enough to reach the top to middle of your thighs. This cardigan from American Eagle would be perfect.

If you love all of these looks but need something a little cheaper, this jumper from Charlotte Russe is only $26.99. Pick up a plain white t-shirt from H&M and black tights from your local CVS/Rite Aid/etc. and you’ve got the look! Or for a more wintery look, check out this adorable sweater jumper dress from Victoria’s Secret, which is only $45.

In high school, I went through the, “I’m too cool for a backpack” phase and I carried my books everywhere, stopping at my locker in between every class. But that wasn’t really feasible in college. Walking across campus to class, it was impossible to juggle my books, laptop, cell phone, snacks, Venti Latte and various other staples.

Unable to carry it all – and completely unwilling to pick up another LL Bean monstrsity – I needed something cute and functional.

I searched high and low. The good news is: there are tons of cute bags out there. The bad news is: I bought them all.

1) Kate Spade Belle Meade Cana Tote- Kate Spade will have you actually feeling excited to gather your books and head to class. The Belle Meade Cana Tote is made from tumbled cowhide, which pretty much just sounds awesomely luxurious. Of course, the tote packs a pretty price tag at $425, so you may not be able to afford your books after purchasing it. But hey, you can always throw in a few sheets of loose-leaf paper and borrow a pen from the kid who sits next to you. This tote is worth it.

2) LeSportsac Travel Tote- The travel tote by LeSportsac is sure to fit all your books. And look at all the fun patterns you can choose from! My friend’s classmate told her that her LeSportsac tote kept him from getting bored in class because it was so fun to look at. So, the tote is multifunctional- carry your books,prevent boredom…and flirt with boys! And for $88, I would say that’s worth it. Plus, the bags are made with nylon, so they are completely durable and washable, which will be necessary after carrying it around to all those classes you’ll be attending.

3) Lacoste New Classic Horizontal Shopping Bag- This is another extremely cute and durable bag that is just perfect for your textbooks. If you’re feeling super preppy, you can even match your polo shirt to the bag. Trendy, classic, and always stylish, I love Lacoste. At only $140, I’d say it’s a steal…especially for this brand.

4) Guess Sorority Tote- It’s called the sorority tote, so you obviously need to get this one if you’re in, or are planning on joining, a sorority. It’s not exactly discrete with its shiny leather finish, but since when have you ever wanted to be discrete? Guess is always pretty affordable and stylish and this tote is only $85; not even close to the fees you’ll be paying for your sorority membership.

5) North Face Jester Backpack- Sometimes backpacks are the most convenient for carrying books to class. They can comfortably hold all your books and have multiple purposes, like bringing on weekend camping trips, or toting beer to a frat house party (What? Not like I’ve ever done that!). But if you’re going to carry a backpack, it needs to be a fashionable one. And, please be extra careful if you take public transportation. There’s nothing worse than a clueless backpack carrier on the train, swinging that thing loaded with biology books back and forth. My favorite backpack is the Jester from North Face. It’s only $49 and is much cooler than that old LL Bean business.
