I’m not sure what crazy ass women were questioned for this, but a recent survey found that women prefer video games to sex.

Yeah, let that marinate for a second.

Now, don’t get me wrong. There was a 6-month period in there where I did nothing but play Guitar Hero. All the time. Every day. One time in a towel immediately upon stepping out of the shower. (Seriously.) I was addicted and loved the pleasure I felt when I finally mastered Heart’s Barracuda on medium.

But it didn’t make my toes curl. Or my neck tingle. Or my eyes to roll back in my head. Or…give me an orgasm.

I mean, really? How can a stupid video game even compare? (Or, better question, what kind of losers were the women surveyed sleeping with?!)

It is true that there are some things in life that are better than sex, but I’m gonna go ahead and say that video games aren’t on that list. Not even Wii Tennis, which we all know is pretty freaking awesome.

“But Lauren, what IS on that list?” Why, thank you for asking. I do love it when people look to me for answers. And lucky for you, I happen to have that list right here. Although, really, these things should be blatantly obvious.

1. An amazing sale. A few months ago, I fell in love with a Laundry dress at Bloomingdales….that happened to cost nearly $400. I walked out of the store, empty handed and head held low, and dreamed about that dress for weeks. A few weeks later, I was telling a friend about it and hopped on over to Google to send her a pic. And what did I find? That same exact dress on sale for 60% OFF…and FREE SHIPPING. I’ve never felt so good…and I didn’t even have to wash the sheets after.

2. Post-bar pizza. True story: I once turned down an invitation for late-night nookie to get some late-night pizza. There is nothing better on this earth. Nothing.

3. The conquest. You see a guy, you want him, he comes home with you. No matter how good the sex is (or how good he looks naked), it’s nothing compared to the feeling of looking over in the morning and knowing that you got exactly what you wanted. (Cue the sh*t-eating grin.) Hell, he could have merely told you he wanted to come home with you and that would have been enough. You know it’s true.

4. Playing hookie. Sure, a lazy Saturday is one of the best things on earth…lying in bed in front of the TV, ordering in greasy Thai food, not doing anything at all. But you know what’s even better? Doing all that when you know you should be in class or at work or in study groups. Happy sigh.

5. Fitting into your old skinny jeans. I just lost 20 pounds (which, by the way, means I get drunk off of one beer….score!) and finally got back into those $200 Sevens I haven’t been able to wear in 3 years. I’m feeling so good right now (mostly because my jeans aren’t cutting off the circulation to my legs anymore…) that I could probably go a full year without booty and be OK with it.

6. Winning. Whether it’s a game (Bananagrams, anyone?), an argument (“I TOLD YOU Urkel’s sexy alter-ego was Stefan!”) or a job offer, not even a 57-hour sex marathon with with Ryan Gosling can top the nearly-orgasmic feeling of accomplishment that comes with a good win.

Hm…so maybe there is some truth to that video game thing, after all.

God, so much bliss. I need a cigarette.

Move over Guitar Hero – DJ Hero is coming.

[There are some women out there that we just can’t get out of our minds. No, we aren’t switching teams - yet - but we do have some serious crushes on some pretty fierce females. These ladies are all special in their own right and we aren’t ashamed to tell the world we love them.]

When I’m not sitting around being insanely jealous of Heidi Klum, I’m crushing on her.

Obviously, I’m jealous because at 35, and having popped out three kids, Heidi still looks insanely hot naked.  We know her best as one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels.  She’s a supermodel, and always fabulously dressed.

But she’s not just a pretty face.  Heidi is also the host, a judge AND an executive producer for our fave reality show, Project Runway.  And it’s her role on Project Runway that has me crushing.  I mean, you totally want to hate someone as hot as Heidi, but you can’t once you see how cute and fun she is. Hell, I’ll watch PR even if it’s on Lifetime just to see her.

Now that’s devotion.

When she’s not working with Tim Gunn or starring in VS ads, Heidi is a mom.  And she looks damn good doing it, even if she hangs the heels and opts for a more casual look when she’s with the kids.  I love her for this, I mean, stilettos and children = trouble.  Ms. Klum proves that you can look good mommy-ing, which gives me hope for when I pop some out (in 30 years).

Somewhere in between being a mom, on TV, and a supermodel, Heidi found time to launch a line for Jordache (and is probably the only woman on the planet who could revive that 80′s line). She’s also designed shoes for Birkenstock, kidswear for a German company and swimsuits. And, can I just say, she has still made the time to maintain that rockin’ bod. She’s like Super Woman.

And can I just say that there is no cuter family than the Heidi/Seal family? The media may call them a “patchwork family,” but I just see a happy and totally good-looking one.  There’s even rumors around the net that she might be pregnant with a fourth child.  And if this rumor is true, I am sure this child will be just as adorable as her others — though I hope she cuts down on the number of middle names, I mean Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo are quite the mouthfuls.

Heidi just personifies adorable.  She’s rocked out like Tom Cruise in Risky Business for a Guitar Hero ad, and danced while extremely preggers with Ellen.  Watching anything with her just shows she is super cute, and even though I secretly hate how fabulous she looks all the time, she still makes me smile.

I wouldn’t kick this lady out of my bed.
Er…I mean…I’m crushing.

We’ve been good this year. No, really. Stop laughing! The sporadic nights of binge drinking/copying those Stats problems/”borrowing” a few rolls of toilet paper from the university bathrooms are nothing worthy of lumps of coal, right? I mean, we went to class, we worked really hard and we got ourselves one step closer to being real adults! That must mean something.

Like, I don’t know, that our holiday wish lists might be fulfilled this year? That we won’t have to suffer through more socks from Grandma, and more educational DVDs from the aunts and uncles? That we won’t have to fight the tears as everyone else gets Mario Kart for the Wii and we are stuck with a pair of ugly light wash jeans?

We don’t want much and we laid it all out below. You know, so there are no mistakes. (Oh, and some of us are celebrating Hanukkah, which starts Sunday night, so you may want to get on the shopping ASAP. Don’t worry, though; you have 8 days to get it right.) Thanksmuchbye!

What’s on your wish list this year?

Like this game, which, unlike Guitar Hero, teaches boys an actually useful skill: pleasuring a woman.

Giving this is a gift is a total win/win. Your guy – who is obsessed with video games – gets a new toy to play with and a girlfriend who encourages him to do so. You get some much needed satisfaction in the bedroom.

Ok, so it’s not real, but how amazing would it be if it were? Just imagine coming home from class to find your guy and his friends playing in the living room; who cares if he just wasted six hours playing the game? He’s practicing for you! And instead of some dumb game where he lives out his fantasies of being a rock star, your man would be spending his time practicing a skill that is actually necessary in his day to day life!

Guys need some help when it comes to our nether regions; guiding them doesn’t seem to work and watching porn just makes everything worse. An instructional (and entertaining) video game seems like the best solution. This is definitely on my wish list this season.

You can be a Guitar Hero…for real!

In case you need a little push to get out and vote.

The election is gonna require some heavy drinking.

You’re in a relationship. Obviously, there’s something compatible between you and your partner. But once the break-up hits, BAM! Everything changes. It’s very difficult to get back to the friendship level, if possible at all.

Breaking up doesn’t just mean you’ve lost a mate, but a really good friend as well. In fact, you’ve probably lost several friends, because now it’s taboo for either of your own friends to associate with the other’s ex. It could also mean you’ve lost a confidante, a study pal, a Guitar Hero partner (or the entire game, if it was his!), a personal chef, or whatever your now-ex used to do that made the relationship special.

It also means a definite disturbance in many, most, or all of your daily routines. Whether you called each other every day to talk through your commutes to school, or you were living together, suddenly, there’s something missing. And even if the break-up was necessary or inevitable, that void is a gaping hole in your life. That keeps getting bigger. And just won’t go away.

If you think about it, breaking up is kind of like quitting a job: when you quit your job, you find yourself alone in a sea of opportunities. But which one is right for you? You might stay unemployed for a while, or you might bounce around from job to job for a little bit because you can’t find another decent job. If you’re lucky, you might fall right into a perfect new career. In either case, when you leave the first job, you change your routine, you see less of your former coworker-friends, and you have to actually quit.

But, sometimes leaving a job isn’t so bad. If you leave on good terms, you get to put in your two weeks notice. Everyone knows it’s coming. Suddenly, the irritating bits aren’t so bad because you know it’s almost over, and you can reminisce about the good times you had over the years. On the final day, you get to hug everyone and promise to keep in touch, and maybe even go out and celebrate by drinking your face off. The best part? Leaving a job on good terms might leave the doors open; you might be able to saunter back in and say, “I made a mistake, and I’m ready to come back.” Or get a glowing reference for the future.

Is it possible for the breakup to go the same way?

If only we could give two-weeks’ notice to our mate. Get in fourteen more days of the good stuff, hell, maybe squeeze in a lusty goodbye screw, and then leave with a clear conscience. We’d have plenty of time to clean out our metaphorical office– i.e. the drawer he cleaned out for you in his dresser– and say the things you really want to say before you go back into the dating scene. Plus, if we can call our former employers for networking, references, or career advice, maybe there would be hope to dial our exes when we need the sage advice only a former bedmate can give. Or, just maybe, some cute friends we might be able to meet?
