People involved in dangerous professions should have guns. But celebs?

No.

Celebrities can hire bodyguards to protect them, so there is no reason for them to have guns. Do they even know how to use them? Do you feel safer walking around knowing that some celebs are walking around with weapons?

Here are some celebs using guns, and let’s hope some of these guns are fake or we are all in trouble.

Now, I love my fiction, but sometimes I just get a hankering for a real fact-filled, non-fiction book. I was watching MTV Canada one day saw Rodrigo Bascunan, the author of a fantastic book called “Enter the Babylon System,” being interviewed. On a whim, I decided to get it from the library (if MTV likes him, then he must be bad ass, right?) and boy was I impressed!

Now, before you go grab this book yourself and stare blankly at the cover thinking “WTF is this sh*t?” let me explain something: the book is about guns.

Yeah, I know that you probably have no interest in guns, their history, or their evolution, but hear met out; the  book was seriously great.

Even if you have absolutely NO interest in guns, “Enter the Babylon System” will still entertain and inform you. I have no affiliation or opinion on guns and gun culture and was surprised by how easy the book was to understand despite this. Not to mention how interested I was in the topic once I began learning about it.

I learned so much, from the history of guns to their central role in the hip hop and rap industry today. Within this culture, most carry weapons, sometimes illegally, and many fatal shootings occur because of this easy access to firearms. The authors, who look more like the gang members they discuss than the scholarly men that they are, are vehemently opposed to this new gun culture and use their unique access and perspective to share their reasoning with the world.

I found the authors’ point of view the most interesting part of the book. It’s really nice to see two individuals who had many opportunities to immerse themselves in gun culture take a stance and tackle a national and international issue. They know what they are talking about and it shows, forcing many readers to give real thought to a topic they never considered before. It is a mature and thoughtful book, but as I said, one that can benefit even the least interested or knowledgeable in the topic. And I’m proud to say I now know who rappers are talking about when they name-drop Smith & Wesson or Colt.

Anyone who is looking for an informative, smart, yet entertaining summer read should pick up “Enter the Babylon System.” You’ll need something to make you think a bit after 8 hour days answering phones at that summer job and this book will give it to you in a way that isn’t dry or boring. I found it engrossing and unbiased and I highly recommend it for the non-fiction buff like myself.

Action movies aren’t notoriously known as “movies for women,” they typically have a special place in a man’s heart. Hence the whole movie genre known as Chick Flicks, which are made just for the ladies. But, there is something about James Bond movies that cross the gender line. I love Bond movies, I have seen them all, and my anticipation for each new movie’s opening is ridiculous.

Today, after all my waiting and agony, the newest installment of James Bond hits the theatres and I’m ready to sit on the edge of my seat and bite my nails. It isn’t just the action and adventure that I love in these movies (usually I’m not one for stupid, over-the-top action movies) but it is everything that accompanies a Bond movie: the oh-so-hot 007 himself, the music, Bond’s gadgets, his cool cars, the Bond girls and their fashion, the mystery, and all the adventure. They are amazing.

To celebrate the opening of Quantum of Solace, College Candy wanted to recap on the hot men who made us lust after Bond, James Bond.

The first Bond (and quite possibly the sexiest) was Sean Connery. Is it his voice? His gorgeous eyes? His classic look? His ability to pack heat? Sean was the first, and for me, the only Bond. None have lived up to him.

The second Bond and the least popular was George Lazenby. He played 007 for one movie and never returned. Thank God. He just doesn’t cut it, definitely when he is suppose to represent the sexiness of Bond, James Bond. He also wore a pirate shirt, maybe it only bothers me, but it is hard to forget.

Roger Moore held the title of James Bond for 12 years, and was pretty great at it. Roger just may be the second best 007, next to of course Sean. Roger gets the credit of turning Bond into more of a playboy and womanizer.

Timothy Dalton took the way Roger played James Bond and made it slightly more darker and gritty. Tim isn’t my pick for Bond and he wasn’t popular among many of the movie critics of the time either. Perhaps, in real life he is more of a “James Bond” because he performed most of his stunts himself.

Pierce Brosnan could possibly be the second best looking James Bond. He is tall, dark, and handsome. He was so good as 007 he became the star of the James Bond video game. Well done Pierce, well done. I was sorry to see you go.

Our newest James Bond is Daniel Craig, whose movie opens today. And already they are talking about him playing 007 in another Bond movie in 2010. Craig’s first movie as Bond, Casino Royale, had the highest gross amount of any previous Bond film. He has even been made into a wax statue at Madame Tussauds, a true honor. However, the CC jury is still out on whether is will beat Sean Connery as the best or not.

Who Is The Hottest Bond, James Bond?

Today is the Marine Corps’ 233rd birthday and we here at College Candy want to join the celebration. The United States Marine Corps have some of the sexiest men in uniform we’ve ever seen. So in honor of the hottie hot hots who have or are currently serving our country, we want to thank you and let you know why we love you so much! Here are the top five reason you are so amazing…

1. Guys in Uniform:There is something about a man in uniform. The way it hugs that firm and trim butt so well. That hat adds a little something, too.

2. A tattooed marine = a bad ass tough guy (hopefully with a sweet and sensitive inside).

3. These men are disciplined. Self control is a major turn-on. Plus, it makes them kind of mysterious. Also huge turn on.

4. Semper Fi is the Marine’s official moto. It means “Always Faithful” in Latin. We’re hoping they’re Semper Fi to their ladies, too.

5. They have big guns. As in, big muscles and big, well, guns. Which means, they can kick your ex’s while holding your hand. Ugh, so hot.

The mother of four (soon to be six), along with her live-in boytoy Brad Pitt, is currently residing in a palatial French mansion, and preparing to give birth to twins. Despite rumors that Ms. Jolie will not be giving birth until August, word is out that a team of nurses from L.A. have already hopped over the pond to France.

Her protective “instincts” are obviously on high alert, and Angie is definately ready to kick the ass of anyone who tries to tangle with her (seems to be an odd admittance, given her stature as a goodwill ambassador to the UN, don’t you think?).

She told the Daily Mail, “Brad and I are not against having a gun in the house, and we do have one. And yes, I’d be able to use it if I had to. I could handle myself.”

So basically, what she’s doing is telling the world not the f*ck with her.

Besides, Jolie has pretty much made a career out of being a hot action star — and action stars get a lot of practice when it comes to giant weapons of destruction. If I were a thief, I think I’d steer clear of that nice little French mansion and find another family that isn’t so educated in the art of shooting bullets.

Though I’ve only seen a few items from the PH(Squared)T collection, it appears that is will consist of small t-shirts, skinny jeans, hoodies, rubber band bracelets, flip flops, sneakers…basically, all the cheap sh*t that a fifteen-year-old girl or sexually confused boy needs to trick out their wardrobe for the big Fall Out Boy concert.

In an online video promoting the line, Perez calls out Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag on their own overpriced, mundane garbage lines and says that, unlike theirs, his will be very affordable and appealing to the demographic that his website caters to.

That said, I kind of have to give Mr. Hilton props. While I certainly won’t be sprinting in to Hot Topic on that fateful Friday in June, the line’s hot pink patterned pants and cerulean blue t-shirts featuring guns and sparkles and rainbows and hearts (Fact! All on one shirt!) look to be pretty much everything a fine young piece of prepubescent mall trash could hope for.

Though I’ll have to wait until the official release to give my full assessment, my impression of PH(Squared)T is that it’s colorful, fun, and gloriously immature/tacky, not unlike Perez himself. And who doesn’t love the Queen of All Media?

I wanted to impress him so he thought I was adventurous and had an interest in the some of the same things that he did. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I know guys think girls who can shoot guns are sexy. I mean, think of all the movies where hot babes are firing weapons.

I never heard a guy who was turned off when bad-ass assassin Angelina Jolie was taking people out in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But in reality, I could have cared less about firing a gun.

Growing up, even on the mean streets of New Jersey, I had never even seen a gun, fire arm, pistol, or whatever you want to call it except for television and movies. It wasn’t that my family was against weapons or the right to bare arms, we just didn’t bare arms. So when it came time to act interested, I had to do just that, ACT.

But being familiar with fire arms and pistols is something that is very important and every woman should know. Not only can it be thrilling to fire a gun but it is also very empowering. I think the hardest part for me was that I didn’t know what to expect. I hate to admit it but I tried to do some research online, in hopes that it would help me better.

I went here and I was able to see how gun works but still needed much practice before improving my ability to aim and shoot one. When I finally wrapped my hands around the gun, I was really starting to sweat bullets (pun intended). After I fired the first round though…it all changed.

It wasn’t as scary as I had anticipated. I was afraid that I was going to fall over from the kickback (the pressure that is released when a gun is fired), but actually it wasn’t terrifying at all. It took at least a dozen rounds until I realized that I have to start aiming. I had no idea all the things that go into shooting like shot picture, and breath control. Shot picture is when you look down the sights. It’s difficult but you want to be consistent when you fire and have a routine that works for you.

For me it was easy, I was consistently bad.

However, each time my SNIPER of a boyfriend took me shooting and explained why each step was important, I was able to greatly improve. He stressed breath control, which I thought was ridiculous, but he proved it wasn’t by letting me fire five rounds MY WAY, the wrong way as he called it. Then he made me fire his way, exhaling slowly as I fired and although I hated to admit it, his way was the right way.

Together, we’ve gone to the range often. To find a range near you look here. Honestly, it surprises me to say, but I am even considering buying a gun myself. To see the laws in your state look here. In some states it takes a long time to buy a gun, which can be good or bad.

Something probably needs to change since there are so many nut cases carrying guns on college campuses these days. Still, as much as the government wants us to feel safe, I think I would definitely feel safer if I had a gun like Dirty Harry. I sit in my classes, and in the back of my mind, I think of how I am going to get out of the room if I hear shots from the hallway.

I’ve actually contemplated taking classes only on the first floor so I have a quick getaway. I’m not saying that I would want to carry a gun with me to class but at least if the campus security carried something other then a flashlight and a cup of coffee, I might feel safer. I don’t think I’m alone or crazy in my thoughts, but even if I am so what, I don’t think it is too much to have an expectation of making it safely through my classes each day.

So whether you are comfortable at the idea of firing a weapon or not, at least give it a try.

I was extremely nervous the first time I fired, but now I feel like one of the characters in the movies. I also appreciate the fact that shooting is not as easy as actors make it look. I mean, I bet in reality Angelina Jolie couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. So if you can’t shoot well, I guess my advice would be to at least dress hot when you go firing with your man.

Remember your Sniper may talk a big game but if he doesn’t appreciate you taking an interest in his hobby…he could very well end up alone that night with his Halo 3.

So, okay. It’s sorta funny.

But not really. I mean, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa? A first aid kit with bullet-wound care bear? I’m all for bashing stereotypes, but what exactly are we saying here? Girls like violence? Girls have weird taste? Mother Teresa makes a perfect icon for a rocket launcher?

Whether one can actually buy the fake weapons isn’t clear, but you gotta hope the designs are purely on paper. Nothing good can come out of fake guns that look real. Even if there is a Hello Kitty attached to it.

Here in Texas, now the site of the second-and-third most deadly mass shootings on American soil, people from students to doctors are arguing passionately for their right to carry a gun. Many conservative pundits (check out nationalreview.com for coverage of the pro-gun debate) are suggesting that it may be essential for every student to carry a gun in order to protect themselves should something happen in a classroom, or anywhere, for that matter.

I never really consider if anyone around me is carrying a gun; I don’t think I’ve even ever seen a real gun up close, besides on a police officer. But it is frightening to think that more people than I could imagine have weapons in their homes, their cars or actually on them.

And the thought of guns in the classroom, well, it makes me not want to go to class. Ever. I value safety and security, but not to the point where the pursuit of it causes me to live in fear of my lab partner’s semi-automatic going off in class.

I’ve never heard a positive story about a gun “saving” someone’s life or acting in a heroic manner. To be a hero you have to use your brain, not a gun– the two don’t mix, especially in a school setting. What do you think– would you carry a gun to class?
